OWON P4305 Lab Power Supply (30V/5A) Unboxing and First Impressions

So I ended up ordering an OWON P4305 laboratory power supply for about 175 € including shipping. At least on paper it checked all my boxes: 30 volts, 5 amps, three decimals for volts and amps, digital control and real binding posts.
And now it’s here! After unboxing and playing around with it for a while (far too long for an unboxing video) I’m quite happy. I also talk about why I didn’t go for the KORAD K3005D (to chincy) or the RIGOL DP711 (too expensive).

Yes, so far I like it very much. But we'll definitely have to wait until I come around to make a detailed review (including noise and transient measurement) until we can pass final judgement.
sir i am looking to control stepper motor(12v ,1.5 amp) ,can i use bench power suplly for the power source ,and what is main differece between bench power supply and programmable power supply
Of course you can use a suitable (enough voltage and amperage) bench power supply as power source for stepper motors. And there is no electrical difference (but for the programming interface) between a bench and a programmable power supply. My OWON lab (bench) power supply for example is programmable via RS-232. So it's a programmable bench power supply. Programmable is just an attribute any power supply can have - or not.

Very nice looking power supply. Only reason i may not purchase this is that the color LCD and its funtion is difficult to repair. In most Chinese power supply, the front end gets some issue. The main equipment may still continue to work. Very nice review.
It is indeed very nice looking :-) I'm not too worried about having to repair the user frontend with the LCD myself. I bought it from a European source, and so (I hope) I'll probably can get some service if anything goes wrong with the unit. BTW this was not a review. A review will be coming up early 2021 (with noise and transient measurements - the works).

Looks like a nice power supply. I have a pair of the Korad and I really don't like them. Yes they work but they have their problem and the why the outputs are set up makes it a pain to jump them when you want a + - dual rail. I see the Owon has the earth ground between the pos and neg with standard 18 mil spacing,,, makes it nice for jumping for earth reference to ground.

so far you have not faced any issue? what about warranty---i saw it has 1 year waarnty but i want to know whether you are getting support from your country for tis product?
To be honest, I haven't come around yet to sent it back. I bought it from a company in the Netherlands and I'm in Germany. So it's within the EU and I don't expect any problems. I'll keep everybody updated about the state of the affair.
I received this power supply today and it's a good product overall but there's something annoying, it emits a buzzing sound coming from the transformer. Do you have the same problem?
Nope, no 50Hz transformer buzz coming from my unit. The only noise is coming from the fan.

@@davidgmos I know the feeling. You're almost happy with a buy, but there's one thing about it that's ticking you off :-( Guess you have two options: A) Try to get a replacement unit from whoever you bought it. B) Open the unit, fasten the bolts that hold the transformer core together a bit more, and/or put more transformer lacquer on the core. I haven't opened mine yet, so I don't really know how feasible option B) is.
You should check the OVP, apparently it overshoots for 0.5s (at least the 60V model does) :(
I'll keep that in mind and do an appropriate test.
it looks good for hobbyists nice display and user friendly for the price but it would be a beast if it had sensing also :-D
It looks very nice indeed. And up to now I've no regrets buying it. Remote sensing would be a nice feature. But the cheapest ones with remote sensing I know of are the AIM-TTI, starting with the EL301R (30V, 1A, analogue) for about 200€. However, if you want something comparable to the OWON P4304 you'll have to go for the QL355SII (35V, 5A, digital) for over 500€.
Warum macht man so ein Video nicht in seiner Muttersprache ? Sollen doch die anderen sich das übersetzen . So nun aber zu diesem Netzteil, ich habe das auch jedoch unter einem anderen Namen , die mitgelieferte PC Software kann man sich getrost sparen diese auf den PC zu laden , 1. funktioniert nur die hälfte, bei jedem Start muss man erst umständlich das Bild mal in die Position bringen damit man den COM Port einstellen kann , die Software speichert rein gar nichts , nach jedem Start alles wieder von vorne , wenn die Software läuft lässt sich am Gerät rein gar nichts mehr einstellen oder mal den Ausgang schnell abschalten , schließt man die PC Software blockiert das Gerät immer noch , man muss es erst komplett aus und wieder einschalten um Zugriff auf die Tasten zu bekommen . Kurz um , das Netzteil ist sehr gut , die PC Software aber aller unterste Schublade um es mal ganz kurz zu machen. Wer ein intuitive bedienbares Netzgerät sucht ist mit diesem bestens beraten, wer aber auf die Programmierung über den PC angewiesen ist Finger weg weil hier eben nichts funktioniert.
Und lieber Robert , mach deine Videos in Deutsch, alles immer auf englisch ? für welche Personen machst Du das , muss der deutsche jetzt englisch können nur um das verstehen zu können ? bekommst das doch nicht gesponsert warum also alles in Englisch ?

bezüglich der Verwendung der deutschen Sprache: Wo soll ich Anfangen? A) Deutsch ist die Sprache der Philosophie (bis zum heutigen Tage), aber Englisch ist die Sprache der Technik (jedenfalls spätestens seit Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts). B) Neben Spanisch ist English die meistverbreitete Sprache und ich möchte tatsächlich ein möglichst großes Publikum erreichen. C) Automatische Übersetzer für gesprochenes Deutsch sind immer noch einfach schlecht (wg. "Sollen doch die anderen sich das übersetzen."). D) Ich bin über meine englischsprachigen (!) Videos tatsächlich in Kontakt zu einer US amerikanischen gekommen (nicht OWON), und bekomme von dieser jetzt immer wieder Geräte zur Rezension gestellt (wg. "bekommst das doch nicht gesponsert"). Und schließlich, E) ich möchte mein gesprochenes English trainieren ;-)
Aber jetzt mal zum Gerät selber: Ja, mein erster Eindruck zu dem Netzteil war sehr gut, aber es hat auch ein paar Schwächen. Siehe dazu den 1. Teil der eigentlichen Rezension - in Englisch: czcams.com/video/IbGax79w-RQ/video.html . Der eigentliche 2. und letzte Teil der Rezension (es gab nach dem 1. noch vier weitere, die sich aber alle mit dem defekten Bildschirm an meinem Gerät befasst haben) sollte in den nächsten Wochen oder so veröffentlicht werden.
Und zur Software: Ich wusste gar nicht, dass es eine Software für das OWON gibt. Bisher habe ich die RS-232 Schnittstelle nur dazu genutzt um via Terminalprogramm Kommandos an das Gerät zu schicken bzw. Daten vom Gerät abzufragen.
