Because Skar King is on his old age, not on his prime, but considering how many creatures we saw dead on the trailer, his fightning style and how he managed to seal Shimo, then Skar King on his prime must have been a HECK OF A APE, maybe even greater than Kong.
I feel like they wasted his potential. But yeah i jist realized hes an old man. He did beat kong in their fight in hollow earth. He landed more hits and kong couldn't really touch him. He did seal shimu as well who supposedly froze ghidora. I also noticed how skar king handle godzilla breath by easily dodging it even when caught off gaurd and when he got grazed he was still fine. Yeah he mustve been a beast when he was younger

Shimo is pretty powerful herself, if she can tank Atomic Breaths from a powered up Godzilla, just like that. Good thing that despite all that power and without Skar King's cruel treatment, she's actually quite docile.
It did no damage to Ghidorah too. He dodged it in the Antarctic fight and tanked it comfortably in Boston even before he tapped into the power grid, against a nuke amped Godzilla.
