    Hi Tim. One point you didn't bring up that I would like to mention is the homesteader trend of the last 3 years. Alot of people purchased new homes/ homesteads and bought small tractors to do their projects. With the real estate market being very slow and the lack of homes being bought and sold there is naturally a decline in demand for compact tractors.

    I look on Facebook market place and people who are selling tractors must think they really have something to sell. Their prices are more than some of them were back in the day when they were new. Zero turn mower on their last night supposedly had only 29 hours on it. They were selling it because they were moving and didn't need it anymore. I think more than likely the hour meter didn't work. When part of the deck was missing covers over the spindles and have bad scratches all over i know something is putting out a red flag. I personally don't buy used equipment, i want something to last and at least a warranty. I bought an old Ford tractor at an auction and we didn't know much about it and later found out the loader was actually too big for the tractor. Couple of days after owning it the water pump went out and the radiator was almost totally plugged up. It was fairly easy to fix it.

      I take my guards off of all my mowers, easier to keep it clean from around the spindles. . . Grass clippings and / or leaves like to collect around the spindle but under the spindle covers. Or always a red flag 🚩 buddy. But hey, if you don’t feel comfortable or know what you’re lookin’ at then I can’t blame you for being cautious! I’m just saying not everything is a red flag if you KNOW what to look for & know what you’re looking AT! For me, it’s I don’t want clippings and stuff to collect around my spindles so I allow it to “breathe” freely! I’m not doing anything to damage my spindles but grass collecting under the spindle covers / guards WILL damage those spindles!

    I have a 4052r and a 1025r and I was considering selling my 1025r in the spring. You have convinced me to keep it! It is a 2022 TLB with only 90 hrs on it and for such a huge hit on used prices, I can keep it in my business and make a lot more than that monthly payment! No reason to lose $15k after only 1 year of use with 0% financing! Another great video that I appreciate a-lot! Thanks Tim & Christy!

    In my area, south Georgia, I see more construction equipment on the auction lot than a year ago. I also see more campers for sale. Inflation is hitting everyone and if it was financed, people are needing to get out under the payment. I do not see the economy getting any better so I expect prices to drop on used and new since demand seems to be going down (I do not have any data to back this up, just understand there is less discreationary spending available)

    There is a huge difference now in these prices for sure. We had no choice but to buy new and got true zero percent financing with Kubota for 84 months. There is no upcharge to do that as it is sometimes done at the larger brands. We also opted in for the insurance and extended warranty. Both Kubota and JD have a track record of being good at honoring these agreements.
    I totally agree about 2 tractors at 2 different sizes if you can do it. It is great flexibility and helpful if one is down and work needs to get done.

    I am one of those COVID buyers. Left the big city in 2021 to where I am going to retire. Bought 4 acres in Nov 2020 and a 1025R in April 2021. The things were just going nuts on price and inventory at the time was a bit slim. The best I remember without looking it up I paid about $22K for the 1025R with loader, 60D mowing deck and a box blade. Seems retail was around $24K+. I took the 72 months no interest (lost a $250 incentive to finance) instead of paying cash. Looks like a smart move now as that cash sitting there is drawing 5-6%. My only thing is I have no plans to sell my tractor even as I could probably use a zero turn to mow now. It is handy for all kinds of things other than mowing. 🙂

    I'm pretty convinced how smart you are has little to do with following any "market" trend in any industry lately. It seems the general trend is to keep everyone stepping, fetching and guessing as a distraction from who knows what is actually going on behind the scenes. Stay safe and sane everyone, and don't let other people choose your friends or enemies for you.

    Hi guys. I purchased both my 3033R and 2025R during the heart of COVID and was able to get good deals and I’m glad I did. New sales seems to be in the dealers favor right now in most cases across the board no matter what your buying. We have put major purchases like vehicles and equipment on hold until we see where the economy is headed. I enjoy equipment auctions but I always tell people that most of the time farmers in our area don’t sell equipment because they want the next latest and greatest it’s because they have fixed the equipment so much
    it was time to move on. And a lot of the time you will see that same piece of equipment in the next auction a year later.

    Interesting content. I bought a subcompact this time last year. I could have paid cash for it but I did the zero percent loan. I might as well use their money. I am currently considering buying a new F450 as a tow vehicle to replace my 12 year old F250. Used F450s now cost MORE than new! That is because a used one can be taken home immediately, and new ones basically have to be ordered with a 3 to 6 month wait. There is a used 2023 F450 near me that sold NEW for $80,500. It has 3700 miles. The dealer wants $93,000 for it used. Ridiculous. Sure wish the used super duty market was following the subcompact tractor experience.

    From my experience at auctions when multiples of a single thing exist the first usually sets the price for the rest in the lineup. Condition will always affect price regardless. My point of reference is single farm and household auctions with the vast majority having less than 10% consigned items.

    Prices likely reflect the fact that if you ever had to have a Deere tractor serviced or repaired it is a nightmare (certainly here in CT). The privately owned franchises were all bought out by some kind of conglomerate and customer service is no longer what it was.
    Also Mahindra and Kioti prices are much more affordable and you can actually deal with the owner of the dealership.

    From what I've seen the used market has been directly affected by the finance rates at the dealers. A used tractor I buy for resale at $15k I'll mark for sale at 17K. When it sells, current used dealer rates are from 6-9%. If 17k is finance for 60 month at 6% the monthly payment is 328.66. A new machine sold at $19899 at 0% for 60 month is 331.65. With the payments for these machines practically the same which makes selling the used tractor at a 2 thousand dollar profit practically impossible. The only time that the used markets wins right now over the new machine is when its something special. Thank you for all your great videos.

    Tim: really enjoy your channel! Need advice. I own a small 6.3-acre farm that has been in the family for 45 years. I am slowly trying to restore it both dwellings and land. Last year, I purchased a new X590 JD Lawn Tractor ($15k). Been great and hours are low.
    I do know I eventually need a compact. First, some folks trade up; others hold onto original mower as a backup. Thoughts? I know some state it is difficult to add / remove cutting deck.
    Second, I see a ton of 1025r on the secondary market and fewer 2025r. I believe this reason is twofold; first more of the smaller have been sold, and fewer of the 2025r respectfully. One of my big needs is an auger as I have a boatload of fencing that needs to be replaced. Finally, I do not have a local mechanic to service whatever I might purchase, so I will need to purchase new due to warranty life and that the dealer will provide maintenance. I know the two models are very similar, but the constant shaking of augur use makes me believe that the more weight of the tractor, the better. Any advice across the board that you can offer would be great. Thanks.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Auger really needs larger than even 2025r. …but will work on 1025r. I would choose 1025r or 2032r/2038r. Totally skip the 2025r.

    Tim - where do auction houses get the tractors?
    In this case, somehow they got four (4) 1025R tractors.
    Are they repossessions? Estate sales? Private individuals?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Likely trade ins at a dealer. Dealer doesn’t want those ‘nearly new’ ones on the lot, as they would hinder new sales. So they sell to the auction.
      One dealer chain (multiple locations) would easily get 4 low hour 1025r trades like that.

    Thank you. Good video. I am now that person seriously looking at selling my 2032R. I am just not using it for anything besides some light brush hogging and plowing snow. Last Winter I plowed our driveway 4 times. I'm in Mid Michigan. It has 105 hours on it. Just the tractor, 66" front blade, brush hog and R14T tires. NO front bucket. 105 hours. It's just sits in my barn. I haven't started it since September. I have 0% interest on it. Do I keep it? It's tough like you mention about keeping them or not fo some.

      I dunno Bob. Do you think you would use it more if it had a loader? We find that loader and pallet forks is the most used configuration. Lifted several different things just this morning.
      It really isn't "dropping" much in value now. It will continue to hold value.
      I would recommend adding a battery maintainer if you haven't. Other than that, it should be fine.

    Equipment, trucks, and related business products are easily double the price they should be. It's all tax write offs making prices go sky high. Why not make massive 400% profits as a company when most of the sales are tax write offs? Small equipment is insane for what you're getting. It's a joke the price you pay.
