Suzuki GSXR 04 05 750 Throttle Body Cleaning

  • Make sure to take your time polishing the walls of the throttle body especially around the area where the butterflies close. The primary flies don't ever seal closed but rely on smooth airflow when closed for a clean idle. You also want to clean the edges of the butterflies thoroughly taking caution not to add to much pressure as to bend the rod holding it in place. This job can be done without removing the secondary flies just as i did but it takes a bit longer to get your rag and finger down in there. Make sure to use throttle body cleaner and NOT carb clean, each is made for its own job and you don't want to damage parts because you were to cheap or lazy to get the right stuff.

      I've never had the opportunity to dive into a Haynes manual but I'm pretty sure its a lot clear on the procedural process then the OEM manual. I've read my book in and out and even now at times I find myself scratching my head thinking "did they miss a step"..lol. Now, I only generally go back to the book for a refresher as I have pretty much gone through everything aside from cracking the engine open.

      Christopher Llorca take a look at the video starting from 3:45 - 5:38. After removing all connectors and hoses your going to losen these two gold bolts which clamp the TB in place. Once there lose you grab the TB Stack and pull up.. It's a snug fit so it's going to requir a good amount of upward force. And that's it.. they just pop out of the rubber boots.

I did Google the crap out of that issue and there alot of mix feelings some say it doesn't affect anything nither give u more hp some say it does screw up ur performance either way just wanted to mention it out here and see if anybody has any knowledge on it.. i didn't upload a vid since i had no budy to record and video was crappy

      blkblky I was beginning to wonder what happen to you. yes removing the the secondary butterflies won't do much for HP. Not sure where you live but with them gone you might have a hard time starting in cold mornings with them gone. I noticed you said you were new to riding and have a 600. what is it or how do you know your losing power. Is your power loss from a stop (1st gear) or is it in a specific gear or maybe a certain range of gears. the only thing you have really said was a guy told you the flies weren't opening as they should. give us some details brothers so we can help you out.

After reviewing my extra main harness I keep for reasons such as this I was able to see the wire colors beneath the black sheathing (Black/White trace and Orange/Red trace). I took this info to the GSXR 750 service repair manual and found out that they connect to cooling fan for the radiator. • @bradskis81
      @bradskis81 Před 7 lety +1

      They're not carbs.. stop calling them carbs. This is an electronic fuel injected fuel system. No carburetor. You have throttle body ports and fuel injectors. No carbs... No carbs.

    • @TheChemistDIY
      @TheChemistDIY  Před 6 lety

      Idle speed is controlled with an adjuster nut on the left hand side of the TB's. As far a build up, well mostly on the inner walls and butterflies. Kind of resembles the inside of a smoking pipe with all the carbon residue, nothing was inside any of the tubing but its always good to clean out since your in there.

    Hey man! Question. I have an 07 gsxr 600 and I have a problem with my throttle bodies closing all the way. I took the cables off the wheel that holds them to the throttle body and when the bike is running if I Rev it it stays at that rpm until I manually close them. Or when the cables are connected I have to roll the throttle tube forward to get it to come back down to idle. It feels like the throttle body is hard to open initially and then won't close all the way

    • @TheChemistDIY

    • @TheChemistDIY
      @TheChemistDIY  Před 7 lety

      blkblky, .. o..OK. That's an easy fix. we just need to adjust the TPS so that needle floats in the middle at idle (bike running) and while in dealer mode. so if you didn't know the GSXR has two TPS's one that controls the top set of butterflies, which you have removed.. movement of this set of butterflies is controlled by your STPS and STVA. The main butterflies are controlled by the TPS (if you didnt know one sits in front of the other respectively). so let me ask, do you know the procedure on how to perform the adjustment of the TPS? would you like me to give you an ordered breakdown of this procedure?

      @TheChemistDIY  Před 7 lety +1

      blkblky- sorry I'm getting back to you so late, long week for me. Just a quick FYI the C00 code is a good thing. It means their is no errors, hence the 00. if you see any other number then your having issues. As for the TPS adjust ment. Losen (DON'T REMOVE) the adjustment bolt that hold the TPS in place. From cold start,
      start the bike and watch the gauge. move the TPS up or down till the line is in the MIDDLE position of the -C. One thing to remember. each positing (high,middle,low) actually has two points. So take middle -C for instance, it has a point where it's going to tip high and the point where it's going to fall to low, and then there is a sweet spot where it rides in the middle. this is important because when you tighten the bolt YOU WILL MOVE IT OUT OF POSITION SLIGHTLY. you will most likely have to do this a few times till you nail it dead center, I've never been able to get it on the first try. It's a small space to work in and i have a heavy torqing hand. After when you have set it, take the bike for a ride and leave it in dealer mode so you can watch the needle float. when you give it gas it should float up ^C and return to -C, don't think it should ever float down... also remember your Idle should always be around 1300-1400 rpms, if its not then you need to adjust that too...hope this helps

      Grab some starter fluid and give a few sprays to the throttle bodies.. fire her up.
      If she fires and stalls out then you know it's a fuel issue..
      If she doesn't, then you know to pivot it in the opposite direction and check your spark.
