  • Founding member of US rockers KANSAS, Rich Williams, explains why, out of thousands of amazing guitar players, he believes that JEFF BECK is the greatest guitar player there has ever been.
As a man who play songs such as 'Carry On Wayward Son' and 'Dust in the Wind' Rich knows a thing or two about the guitar, but admits he would be a quivering wreck if he'd ever had got the chance to meet Jeff. Jeff was a legendary guitarist for sure, creating some of the finest guitar sounds of all time.

I'm 70 years of age and I have seen Jeff in concert somewhere between 25 and 30 times in my lifetime. It wasn't until Oct. 2022 I finally met him. He was full of life, funny as hell and really nice to me. I thanked him for 55 years of pure joy. We spoke ,took pictures and he signed my Les Paul. Never could I imagine when we said goodbye that Jeff had 3 more months to the day on this earth. I always felt he would be here and playing just as good at 90. Bad Luck took him from us and the world of music will never be the same. There was only one and there will never be another Jeff Beck.

I've seen him 3 times. Once with Terry Bozio ( whom I also heard with Zappa) and various other other members of bands he made albums with. He was excellent in every concert.

Saw Jeff at the Hollywood bowl a few years ago with Buddy guy opening. Was a great concert until the brought out Gibbons from ZZ top and Steven Tyler....I was so pissed because those shouldnt have been on the same stage as Jeff...ruined the show for me

Beck is swelling the volume button, while having unnatural control over the whammy bar.

I think Tommy Bolin made a an impact on Jeff Beck.

Are you aware the last picture taken of Tommy was backstage with Jeff? On December 6th 1976 Tommy was the opening act for Jeff Beck. After his set, Bolin was back stage partaking in some illegal pharmaceuticals and overdosed and died. JB was not told until the next morning. Jeff would watch Tommy from backstage do his set. That was something Jeff rarely did. JB accompanied Tommy’s body on the trip home.

He wasn't the best. That accolade goes to Steve Morse.

Steve Morse & Jeff Beck were mutual admirers. I know this because I had talked to Steve Morse about this. IMO Jeff Beck was the GOATGuitarist with Steve Morse right behind him. Matteo Mancuso, Joe Bonnamassa, & Derek Trucks are the future of guitar IMO. Great choice mentioning Steve Morse, one of the nicest guitar gods you could ever meet.👍✌️🙂

Rich had said in an interview from 2021 that Jeff Beck was his favourite guitarist. Given Jeff's sad passing, I simply asked him why he was so special to him. But thanks anyway.

Back in '93, I took Rich and his son out on a fishing charter in Key West.
Nice guy. Unfortunately, he wanted to talk about fishing 😕.

Jeff Beck was the GOATGuitarist IMO. Now I think Steve Morse is the best alive but Matteo Mancuso or Derek Trucks are right there as well.
