Only once Iðunn returned did the golden apples grow again and the norse gods became young and immortal. Greek gods rely on worship to stay immortal and powerful which is why they had mortals construct temples dedicated to each specific God.

Nope nope nope lol, Demeter is a vindictive goddess, exhibit A robbing the world of its fertility and causing an ice age because Zeus gave away Persephone. Exhibit B is that one time when a king killed one of her favored nymphs, and in retaliation, she inflicted Limos, the goddess of starvation upon him to make him so hungry he eventually ate himself.

They basically had to call Hephaestus to release him, as the chains were made to be indestructible.
They were supposed to be reflections of Ancient Greek social conventions. That’s why Hera goes after the women and men Zeus gets with; because she couldn’t retaliate directly against him. People forget that Demeter in some of the Greek myths is Zeus aunt and is closer to the Titans in power and cruelty. She also ruled over winter, and that is not a kind season.

Rewatching this....like I just have to say I'm glad they had such a good depiction of Demeter. Yea she screwed up but I feel of all adaptations, she is heavily underused and seeing her shown to this extent has been great.

Honestly, between the two I'd say Demeter here is much worse than Hera ever was. Hera focused her rage mostly on Zeus (rightfully so, considering how often he cheated on her) and his affair partners/bastard children. Sure she released the titans, but still she kept her rage pointed *mostly* at one target. Demeter on the other hand is actively punishing Humanity over and over again (who mind you had little to nothing to do with her daughter being "taken" away from her) in increasingly cruel ways both as an outlet for her rage/sorrow and as a way to get back at Hades for the perceived slight of taking her child away when her daughter made it CLEAR that she had chosen to be with Hades of her own free will

Rewatching this....like I just have to say I'm glad they had such a good depiction of Demeter. Yea she screwed up but I feel of all adaptations, she is heavily underused and seeing her shown to this extent has been great.
I agree that she should be used more but I really don’t like how they went with the trend of making Demeter a helicopter parent since it goes so far against her characterisation in the mythos

She’s not an overprotective controlling abuser, she’s a grieving mother who’s daughter got taken from her. The act of creating winter is a result of Demeter’s depression not an active choice she made
