- Today we will be disassembling a Honda EU2000i generator to check and adjust the valve lash. This will be set to the factory specification as dictated in the manual. The generator will then be reassembled and tested.

5 star goat rope. Remove exhaust end panel, 4 main screws on electric end maiin panel. Leave it there, do not disconnect any thing. Remove red side panels and valve cover. Remove spark plug and using good flashlight stop piston at TDC compression stroke. Finger tighten adjustment screws on to feeler gauge and tighten lock nut. RTV silicone very thin on valve cover and reassemble in reverse order. I schedule 30 minutes for eu2000 if nothing else wrong. Eu1000 are a pain in the butt and take an hour. To decarburize, load generator to capacity using heaters and run for about an hour. After about a thousand hours valves don't change much and intervals can be bumped up to 600 hours no problem. They wear loose so not a panic.
Finally a person who knows how to do the job well! Greetings from Italy!
EXCELLENT JOB! (Won’t mention the forgotten replacement of the 8mm bolt behind the air filter that helps hold the filter box to the engine…oops 😮)
Thanks for showing how to adjust the valve clearance,
Good day fella 👍
No problem 👍
One of the best Honda EU videos I’ve seen. Thank you.
You’re welcome
wow very cool to see a complete tear down video of one of these hondas thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Truly amazing video - thanks for this. I actually learnt so much about how to do Engineering properly, let alone how to work on this engine specifically.
Great video ! Thank you 👍
Glad you liked it!
You should of checked the timing belt for worn wear or cracks my friend and the timing marks on the pulley foo
Sounds like another video.
Just to adjust the valves, do you need to disassemble the entire generator?
I'm from Brazil, I don't understand English.
Does this need to be done every 200 hours as the manual recommends (check/adjust valve clearances)? Or should it really only be done if the generator wont run? I'm hoping it's the latter as this is quite the teardown compared to all of the other maintenance suggested on my EU2200i.
Your awesome
So are you.
Great video. Is there a torque spec for the valve cover bolts?
Not specified in the manual/
Dismantle of the front panel has nothing to do with valve adjustment. There is no reason for it
He said he was also going to repair the structural damage numb nuts.
He also showed an extensive amount of other things he did which nothing to do with either valve adjustment or correcting structural damage. This should have been titled Ultimate tear down guide, not ultimate valve adjustment guide.
If I send my Honda 2000 to you, how much to do mine?
More than it’s worth.
@@delorean1 😉
Wtf....you absolutely do not need to completely disassembled the generator to adjust the valves I'm sorry but don't drink the Kool-Aid are you kidding me who taught you that you obviously have too much time on your hands that is definitely not the way to do it trust me
Thanks for watching.
