    It´s crazy how you can hear the ICE from 5 km away in a tunnel! It booms and then the rumbling builds up until the ICE comes out!

  • @pascalcoole2725

    Boom at 0.18, train exits tunnel at 1.25 => 67 Sec = 1.12kM/Min
    Speed is 300kmh = 300/60 = 5km/min
    So Tunnel length is 5 *1.12 = 5.6 kM in length

      @MegaKopfschmerzen Před 3 lety +60

      But you forget that the train travels 1/4 the speed of sound, so the train has already travelled through 1/4 of the tunnel when you hear the sound.

    entering the tunnel causes air to build up infront of the train. Pressured air. The compressed air escapes when exiting the tunnel, creating a sonic boom able to shatter windows from far away. Atleast that was the case with old japanese bullet trains. I have no idea how that isn’t the case with this one

    How can a train brake the sound barrier?

    • @ruhri0411
      @ruhri0411 Před 3 lety +25

      The train didn’t brake the sound barrier: However, unlike a sonic boom, tunnel boom is not caused by trains exceeding the speed of sound. Instead, tunnel boom results from the structure of the tunnel preventing the air around the train from escaping in all directions. As a train passes through a tunnel, it creates compression waves in front of it. These waves coalesce into a shock wave that generates a loud boom when it reaches the tunnel exit. The strength of this wave is proportional to the cube of the train's speed, so the effect is much more pronounced with faster trains.

    This is no sonic boom. It is just roar of the engine of high speed train. This train was near around 320-350 kmph where as sonic boom happens when speed crosses 1235 kmph which was clearly not of this train and not been done by any train yet in the world. Don't use misleading words for getting views and click bait. Be honest with science, public and humanity.

    • @badethics7542
      @badethics7542 Před 4 lety +15

      The train creates a pressure wave in the tunnel as it enters. When this pressure wave exits the tunnel (ahead of the train) it creates the sonic boom.
