The distance between the start and finish points is approx. 680 km and they took about 10.4 hours to drive it. This equates to an average speed of about 65kmh or 40mph.
They had to climb sanddunes though... so that's a good pace.

When you say first recorded crossing by a standard production car - are you meaning recorded by video etc... because otherwise, I think that might be inaccurate. That said, Land Rover products, standard and equipped have crossed it several times, and with a few Toyota's too.
In fact, if you dig up info around 2000, There was a bit of a deal made regarding 110 rear axles bending due to extreme 64C+ temps in the EQ and a report was asked for and looked into why Range Rovers weren't (at that time) selling in the KSA.
However, Land Rover took this info and started extensive desert testing and have done a great job.
But standard production Land Rover products have been crossing the EQ since the 70s :)
TW Brit A few Toyota ?! I think a lot of Toyota, even more than any other brands. In real life land rover its full of mecanics problems. Thats mostly in arabs countries they go and buy Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol. Or some very expensives 4WD/6WD as the Marauder etc ...

So a shovel was used to get it out of the sand. Nit as fantastic as i thought. However a land cruiser has a crawl option to get u out of that without you having to get out of your car.

No doubt the Range Rover Sport looks AWESOME to me, I'm just sooo sceptical bout the Reliability Issues, just wanna know if that has been sorted out, cos to spend that kinda money on a vehicle n there's no Reliability, I mean that's just NOT ON AT ALL.

Absolutely not, It's called a gulf citizen, We're basically living in one country and treated as one citizens. My neighbor next door has a Dubai license plate and my other neighbor has a Kuwait license plate. It's totally common.
