  • Hai....welcome to JP ROCK METAL WORLD
in this video, i want to talk about two of my favourites female guitarists from Japan.
    They are Kanami and Miyako....
Both of them have a big name, have a lot of fans and they have a great guitar technique.
But first..this video doesn't mean to compare who is better, because Kanami and Miyako are both great and amazing guitar players with their band... Lovebites and Band Maid

I envy Japan for every one of these female guitarists 🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘:
Miyako Watanabe + Midori Tatematsu (Lovebites)
    Saki + Hazuki (Nemophila)
    Kanami Tono (Band Maid)
    Yashiro (Mary's Blood)
    Narumi Suzuki (Destrose)
    Yoshi + Toki (Aldious)
    Illuminata + Ika (ArkRoyal)
    Sakura Yoshida + Mayto (Hagane)
    Mina Nakamura (Fate Gear)
    Tomo-zo (DOLL$BOXX)
    Haruka Noma (Asterism)
    Li-sa-X (Li-sa-X BAND)
The metal band Bridear even had 5 outstanding guitarists over the years: Mitsuru + Misa + Misaki + Ayumi + Moe.
Also very admirable is Miku Kobato, Band Maid's rhythm guitarist. She couldn't play an instrument at first and learned to play the guitar at a decent level in just a few years.
Only a few get it that way. Respect for Miku.😃

Technically it's difficult to be better than Miyako, her solos and duets (Midori, another guitar monster) are top notch. Creatively it's Kanami the best rock writer I've listen in a long time, she can make a classic rock song or overload your senses with a wall of sounds and you'll be smiling all the time. Don't need any competition, both fit perfectly in their bands as the other members.

The best Band-Maid songs were written by 50 plus year old males. Tōno is not even close to quality song writer guitarists such as Serina, Fern Planet / ex-Rick Rack.
Hentai weeaboos have let stellar lolicon marketing by putting tiny East Asian females in sexualized maid costumes cloud their discernment as to what is good and what is not.
Narumi (Lonesome Blue, ex-Destrose, ex-Disqualia) blows away Kanami in song writing from riffs to melodies.
Please just stop it already with the infatuation with maid costumes. It is cringy.

@@drogonr9318 OK Clown. Thanks for the advice. Ignore you.
      1. Band-Maid's first written song was Alone. ALL songs before that were written by 50 something males, professionals.
      2. After Alone, there was a mix of songs written by the band and written by pros.
      3. Only the last few LPs have songs only written by the band and that shows as all of the songs sound alike and are of poor quality compared to the early years and the band's peak in 2019.
      4. Band-Maid plays their own instruments. That has been clear from the start, except for Miku Kobato. Kobato fake played guitar.
In the beginning she did not even appear on stage with one.
These days, Kobato can barely play.
Here is Li-Sa-X at 12. Already, she could play with skill that shows how mediocre Kanami Tōno is right now, over 30.

This is an apples and oranges thing, as both guitarists are so talented, accomplished and special that they should just be rightfully celebrated. They generally play diff genres, and have diff styles and sounds, but neither are just shredders, and both have that rare genius needed to not just play but also create brilliant music. My personal fav is Kanami, as I just happen to enjoy rock more than metal. Something to note about Kanami is that she to my knowledge writes all of her band's music, and has done so for many years now (she does have an exceptional bassist she relies upon for the bass lines). She is not only rare in the brilliance of her songcraft, but unreal in how prolific her creativity churns out new music. Songwriting for Lovebites and other prominent Japanese bands appears to be a much more shared endeavor, as many of the songs are written and arranged by multiple members and even outside talent. Not so Band-Maid, as over the past 6-7 years the band has been blessed with a veritable rainfall of incredible music pouring out of the imagination of one Kanami Tono. Let's hope both of these amazing musicians (and bands) find a wider audience around the world.

There are more similarities between them than differences. When you see them offstage they both look like they're already writing their next composition. They both studied piano from an early age so they both have some understanding of music theory. They both started playing guitar in their late teens. They mostly write their music on piano first. Kanami's writing style is centered around melody, and her solo's follow the same theme. Miyako's solo's also have a lot of melody. When you have a shredder guitarist as your guitar partner, you need something to make you sound different. It works well for their band. I'm impressed by both of them and refuse to chose one over the other. And yes, seeing them play together would be magical.

As a Band, Mincho as a Band-Maid member is invincible.

Love both. Kanamis build up and solo in Puzzle give me goosebumps. Her Blooming solos are incredible. Miyako and Midori are technical shredders. Miyako has more emotion in her solos. Saki, and Hazuki are right there with them. These guitarists for me, are all right there with my all time favorites: EVH, Petrucci, Rhoades, Cris Olivia, Paige, Takayoshi Ohmura, Mikio, Leda.

Something they have in common, I understand they both impose on the Piano. Stopped "ranking" bands their members many years ago. Kanami and Miyako are both superb and who I would like to comment on them is my Guitar Hero, Jeff Beck!! I'm Old!!!

I'm SURE that this won't devolve into a slap fight simp war in the comments. I'm SURE of it.
They're both exceptional musicians - much better than the simps going to war for them in the comments, by far - who have different influences and different approaches. So arguing who is "better" is pure ignorance. Which is why I am sure that the simp wars will go on - there's no shortage of ignorance in the simp ranks.

    You can't compare the two.
Both are really great guitar players.
However, the technical stuff doesn't make any sense in the end.
Sadly something has to be destroyed.
You need the power to destroy the genre too.
You will see the truth if you dare to destroy it.

Two of the greats, for sure. There are a ton of Japanese ladies on the same level, like Saki, Hazuki, Midori, Narumi, Tomo-Zo, etc. They all make solid claims for the #2 spot.
But Hal-Ca is #1. It's like she's from another universe. she puts a ton of emotion and natural technique into every note she plays. She's the pinch harmonics master. She is peerless in Japan with her whammy-bar technique and is almost as good as Steve Vai and Jeff Beck with it. She's soulful enough to colab with Bootsy Collins and also go to Texas and cover SRV, and she's shreddy enough to hold her own with Buckethead. She fronts a band with two other virtuosos, playing more technical progressive stuff than the other ladies. On top of all that, turns out she is a pretty good lead vocalist too, on songs like "Metal" and "Risky".

Miyako has off the charts technical ability, she is Eddie Van Halen, piano player that picks up a guitar and just dominates it. She probably can't write awesome catchy hard rock songs like Kanami though (who can?).

    • @powertothebauer296

Miyako is 10 times better you. see it comes down to taste, but it seems you have not listen much lovebites so you don't know what both ladies from lovebites can do. Kanami is a force. I like what she is putting to table. I don't know why she plays PRS absolute bad sounding Guitar what this video is proof about. And Miyakos musical Arrangements are Top notch, as her Guitar tone is unique , she even mods her Guitars and build a Guitar herself from Kit also modified. She knows exactly what she is doing to get her the tone she wants, and the 2 Ladys can play every style. So are Kanami , as I sad it comes down to taste .Oh btw I don't care who is better ,but I am sure I am piss off some folks with what I have written above .

Why do people say things like this. All the incredible riffs and transitions in lovebites songs? Miyako. Incredible bridges and solos? Miyako. Plays heart melting Melody’s that can make grown men cry? Miyako. I have listened to nearly ever Band maid song that they have produced. They are a part of my daily playlist, and I would never dream of disrespecting their members by implying their lacked the ability to write music. I would highly suggest actually listening to lovebites music not snips of it, branch out from the band maid bubble enjoy other music.

@@christopherlidster3918 True. Also there are tons of people that can write catchy rock songs. I don't see what's supposedly so unique about that. It's a songwriting basic.

2 Japanise guitar queen .... I agree with this title. For me, however, this is an incomplete title. For me it should be: 2 Japanise guitar queen and Empress. Saki is definitely not inferior to KaMi technically and in terms of workshop. As a composer, it is enough to see who composed most of the well-known compositions by Mary's Blood. So why is Saki supposed to be the empress and not the third queen? Neither Myako nor Kanami, and I don't think anyone else has played such an important role in all of this All femal playing. I don't think anyone collaborated with as many artists as Saki. In addition, various music projects and promoting young talents (Li-sa-X, HAL-CA, Sakura). Incredibly modest, kind with great respect for other musicians. In Herman's Li show, spoke very warmly about Myako and Band-Maid.
The guitarist who started this wave of All femall should also be mentioned here. Guitarist Captain Mina founded the first band Destroya in 2005.
Concert like Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras. Like Di Meola, McLaughlin, de Lucía. Saki, Kanami, Miyako together on one stage, it would be beautiful ...
