    Great review! I also traded in my 2020 Model Y Performance for the 2023 MYP - it was a no-brainer! The comfort suspension is Awesome! Other benefits, 16-volt lithium-ion battery, heated steering wheel, better build quality, alcantara door panels, double-paned windowss (front), cargo cover and much quieter in the cabin. I also was able to transfer my FSD at no-cost since I took delivery by Sep 30th :)

    @HandyDadTV - I just purchased a brand new 2023 Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range instead of waiting like you mentioned in this video. I chose not to wait for the very same reasons you did. The incentives can change in a minute and I didn't want to take that chance. Plus, you now know what it's like to buy a first year model. It has a lot work out when it comes to build quality, fit and finish. If the newer model turns out to be THAT much better, I'll consider upgrading my Tesla in a couple of years. Also, thanks for posting up videos on installing the NEMA 14-50 outlet. I will installing mine this weekend since I chose the mobile charger over the Tesla wall charger the was 3x the price! I may consider a third party charger in the future.
    BTW, This is my first Tesla and OMG, I love the acceleration!!!!!

    Thanks for being honest abt the rough ride. We had a MY and everyone in the family hated the ride. Even as I driver, I get nauseous from the suspension. And it’s not from the one pedal driving as we have other EVs in the family.

    I have a 2020 Model Y and a 2019 Model 3 and absolutely love them both just how they are. To each their own, but I think it's great how it is. I do think the direction Tesla is going in is good, up to times, and I approve of it.
    Firstly the 2020 Model Y. A white Long-Range with the 19" Gemini rims & white interior. The family car. Kids love it and can't get enough of it. Wife loves it, mainly drives it. I like how it looks in white and I like the Gemini hub caps, they look cool, although, the 20" and performance rims are very nice but I don't regret the Gemini. I really like the black trim on the white paint, big fan of it. The white interior obviously extremely nice.
    Then the 2019 Model 3. A black Long-Range AWD with the 19" stiletto rims & black interior. The car is exactly what I've been looking for, for myself. I love the chrome trim combo with the black paint and the 19" stiletto rims make it look like such a nice elegant car. Got the black interior because I liked it more for the car. Really wouldn't change a thing, my personal ride.
    Awesome to see Tesla continuing to improve & update their cars, I know most people like the changes for 2023 & 2024 so they are going in the right direction. It'd be weird to see them continue producing chrome trim, piano black interiors, like it is less of the norm now in terms of *new*, but it is nice to know that - if you are just content with what you currently have, these vehicles are amazing and age well. Despite what certain bias critics say, they are all built well. Mother in law has a 2017 Model X 100D, anyone that sees it for the first time automatically assumes she just purchased it right off the lot, it's solid. So great vehicles either way, happy to be apart of the Tesla fam.

    You know few things in this brief life beat that wonderful combination of knowledge and experience. You mastered both very well with your Tesla. Like you, I’ve considered waiting for a “ highland” version of the Model Y, but also like you, I thought about the state and Federal tax incentives in place right now. Well Done, Sir.! As much as I love those 20” induction wheels, I think I’m going to go with the 19’s like you did on the 2023.

      I *love* the new one. The ride is so much better. And the heated steering wheel is life changing. My _only_ complaint is the auto wipers randomly activating on a dry windshield in cruise control or autopilot, but that’s a software issue with Tesla Vision. Just waiting for the fix.

    You made the right choice. I did the same choice too. It is better to get the incentives now rather than waiting and maybe losing them. Besides with Tesla you never know, the new modelY refresh could take another 2 years despide the rumors. Look at FSD and still not ready.

      FSD was never a consideration for me, but I am SO GLAD I didn’t pay for enhanced autopilot. Otherwise the math wouldn’t have been as attractive and I’d likely stick with the old one.

    Question. My State doesnt offer any additional incentives. So for the $7500 federal tax credit, you still finance full MSRP amount minus trade/down payment, but the government just gives you back $7500 at some point? I wish you could take that and apply it to lower monthly payments.

    Had a 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited equal in Canada, 2 weeks after purchase I tried the fast DC charging, it failed, tok 6 service visits multiple parts ordered and finally after 7 months it was fixed so I coudl sell it, got $4,500.00 more than what I paid, ordered a Tesla Model y Long Range AWD, it was available the next day and that delivery experience was perfect, not a panel gap, interior trim issue to be found even teh doors closed a lot better than earlier models and the ride and quite interior was similar to my Ioniq 5, but what really worked was the long distance road trips, soo much better than any CCS car I have ever drove, this is my 4th electric car, we still have our 2020 Kia Soul EV limited for my wife's run about. So after 3 years Tesla has improved the model Y by a substantial amount so well worth trading up your model! Another luxury is our summer road trips in the smoke are much more comfortable with that huge heppa filter and bio-defence cabin air mode!

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  Před 11 měsíci

      It’s a tax credit, not an income credit. So it comes back in your pocket by raising your tax refund.

    • @TheJLMDT
      @TheJLMDT Před 11 měsíci +2

      It’s important to note the requirements to utilize the credit. In a simplified description, you must fall be low the income limits for your filing status (150k single, etc) AND it crucially is a “non refundable” credit which means if your total tax for 2023 is below $7,500, the credit is capped at your lower actual tax number. As a prerequisite, you must review your 2022 taxes or have a good idea of what your 2023 taxes will look like before assuming you’ll get an additional $7,500 refund.
