- Beaches in Lima, Peru, may not be awe-inspiring, although the city still has some gems if you know where to look. With more than 2,000km of Pacific coastline, you can venture a little outside Lima to stumble across the best beaches in Peru.
Peru’s beaches cater to sunbathers, swimmers, surfers, and fishermen. From fine golden sand to pebble beaches. From populated hotspots to natural reserves. If you’re set on adding beach time to the itinerary, Peru’s got you covered.
Beaches in Miraflores and Barranco are the most concentrated in Lima as they’re close to where you'll be staying, and there are many restaurants, bars, shops, and other attractions nearby. Only 40 minutes away, you’ll find more options in the Sur Chico area and Punta Hermosa. But some of the best beaches in Peru are in the north, between Tumbes and Piura.

The beaches in Peru, are good, just depends on the specific ones. Agua Dulce, is in Chorrillos. La Herradura, is there too, and are pretty popular with the locals. There is an area a little distance from Lima called Asia, which is a popular spot in the summer. The beach in Miraflores, like La Punta, in El Callao, are not sandy, it has mostly stones, and are good for surfing. Mancora, in Piura, and the beaches in Tumbes, are like you describe them, very nice.

Great info for beach goers in less than 6 mins. Definitely agree the best beaches in Peru are in Piura and Tumbes besides being warmer than the rest of the coast of Peru.

Great question! It’s a little on the nippy side due to the Humboldt current, so we’re talking around 17C in the winter and 24C in the summer. Let’s call it refreshing 😊
