Been a Ford guy for a long time but now we own a 22 Denali Yukon and a 21 carbon pro Sierra AT4. Both have the 6.2 and just the sound of that v8 makes me smile every time. I love the vehicles so far and probably won’t go back to ford unless they really impress me.
So even though the Expedition is older I would still pick it over the Yukon. We have a 2018 platinum Expedition and it’s an awesome ride! We had a Yukon before the Expedition and and I hated the cylinder deactivation and the seats were not near as comfortable as the Expedition.
Have a 22 Platinum Max 4x4 on order, build date just got pushed back from 2/21 to 3/21, hopefully it doesn't get pushed back again.
JD, how large of a travel trailer would you feel comfortable towing with each of these SUVs? They don't have the towing maximums of half ton pick ups but weigh more than half tons so I guess that is in their favor to some degree.
I have a 2020 Silverado with the same front profile. It takes a couple of days to get used to then you're fine. The other plus is you have a great front end and side view camera system
We are looking at the 2022 Expedition. The Denali is very nice but I’m staying away from GM. They are having too many lifter failure problems with the 5.3 and 6.2 engines.
The bad batch of lifters was in a few months of production vehicles which was over a year ago they have pretty much all been recalled and fixed.
Would stay away from China backed GM!
100% a problem with my 2019 expedition on the lift gate closing due to the sensor underneath. I am shorter, so if I get really close to bumper to reach in, it triggers the sensor to close the door. Wish it only worked to open the back door. Great video, thanks for also showing a bit of the 2022 expedition as well.
Makes me wanna grab a sleeping bag a couple pillows and the dog and head out on a LONG roadtrip......
I’m a fan of the Expedition, but the GMC is incredible!
You can turn the handsfree lift gate off in the settings menu. I love my platinum expedition.
Based off looks the Gmc is more pleasant to look at, ive always thought the fords were a lower quality in appearance and inside. But in the end it comes down to personal preference. Lastly i absolutely hate too big of a screen. Give me 10 or so inch and actual knobs.
My biggest question is, which one will tow better and get the best mpgs while towing.
Wouldn't a fair fight be the Lincoln navigator vs Gmc Yukon xl?
JD how do you think the new Sequioa Capstone compares to these two SUV’s?
I believe the expedition max is 12in longer.
I am a ,GM buyer through and through. My only item of concern with the new GM truck platform is that the seats are rock hard compared to my 2014 LTZ Silverado. Just plain not as comfortable. I will need to check out the SUV line, but usually the seats are the same in both the pickups and SUVs.
Trying to talk my wife into trading in her 2019 Limited Max Expedition for the 2022 Platinum. They are fantastic and she can get top trade in value for her car right now.
Remember the dealership is gonna get top dollar for that 2022 Platinum and you’ll probably have to wait for one.
@@Back_door_bandit_98 They'll get top dollar for anything on the lot for sure but that's why we would order one. I'm a business owner and I think it's ok to pay MSRP on any product but we refuse to pay more than MSRP.
Unless you can buy the one in cash, don’t unnecessarily go into car debt. Btw with proper maintenance. These cars could last for a long time.

Not being comfortable seeing over hood in Denali is a deal breaker IMO. Also, since it does not fit in garage, that is another consideration for looking at something else.
Can't imagine your wife does great deal of traveling. Get her the new Lightning ⚡🌩️. 250 miles around town should be plenty.
And you tow the H19 to the beach ⛱️.
I like the 90s SUV
My personal problem with the Yukon is that it's used and looks like a hearse.
Based simply on looks the ford looks like a toy and the Denali looks like a high class fancy vehicle.

I have an 05 Yukon Denali xl. What a massive improvement since that monster came out.
Expedition all day Fords never let me down never been a fan of GM SUVs; however, the 2022 Escalade looks impressive. I don’t like the yukon or Tahoe however
Take the expedition
The Max or EL expedition is comparable to the Yukon. I could get full 4x8 sheets of plywood in the back of an expedition.
If you really want SUV you also need to look at the Grand Wagoneer. For me it would be the Lightning ⚡ or Grand Wagoneer.
Took the Yukon 2019 compare to Expedition 2019 and expedition going to be wiener 150%

IMHO: Straight away the Ford is the better looking of the two. Perhaps it's because of the lower Dash level and the shorter grill. I like the rear better as well, maybe it because its more like the F150. I'm not sure. And I despise the Tesla style 15" inch display that is being put in many of the new Fords.
Ford is better JD. Probably if not for just quality but for resale also.
The Chevy is pretty but down the road Ford has it.
