They may have been small in stature but, they were big on vocals. Even one of the biggest names in the industry at the time, who would go on to have a profound impact on their career, couldn’t deny their talent. When you sign to vanity labels and not directly to the major label, you place an expiry date on your head. If the main artist/producer leaves or doesn't like you any more, you're finished.

What happened to R&B in general? I know I'm in my 40s now, but it seems like either the good R&B stayed in the 90s, or lots of artists aren't being promoted. I love Kut Klose, and can't wait to blast their album later tonight.
Theres still really good RnB out today its just not being promoted as much but there are still amazing modern artist like SZA and Shea Butter Baby by Ari Lennox is one of the best Soul/RnB albums to ever come out that year in my opinion. Its definitely worth a listen

Same here. R and B kinda died with a lack of talented artists to actually sing the sultry vocals that defined 90s r and b. Now it's all autotune. The only talent still left around in the r and b world is Chris Brown. It's a lost era and the music scene hasnt been the same.

@@moyo6606 yeah, I've looked and not really found much. Chris brown is probably the closest thing left to that rich flow, and not all autotuned like many artists are nowadays. I did like Jeremih, August Alsina, Miguel , but still, that was some years back.

all i can say kut klose was the shit. I saw them maybe. Wen i got grown. 18-19 yrs old. I was amazed. Then saw them perform on soultrain. Wen they was out i was in 3rd grade. Keith Sweat is one of my favorite singers but he flat out did Kut Klose wrong. The only reason why they split up the first time is because he was sleeping with Athena ( that's why his wife left him). Besides, you can hear their connection clearly on their duet that they recorded 2gether ( Nobody)
