Starter kit is a GREAT IDEA!!! I have 5 granddaughters who all want Nana to gift them their starter kits.
I’m 63 and some of my friends want to get back into makeup without looking scary different. A year ago I helped a friend my age transition back into makeup. As a recent widow she has an extremely tight budget.
My 34 year old daughter in law and I have been working on her neutral look just this last week. She’s moving away from just fun colours and glitter stuff for parties & date night and she wanted reliable neutrals she could do on a daily basis.
My 36 year old daughter is the mum of 5 & hasn’t the time or budget for a big fancy kit.
I think the silent majority need and want these kinds of videos to break into makeup or pick their skills back up after years of other priorities.
Kamloops Cruise You are so very right!! I’m 62 and whilst I’ve always worn a little bit of makeup I find these videos so informative and valuable I learn something new from each one. I only have one granddaughter (7 grandsons) she has loved makeup from the day she learned to walk so I will definitely be buying her a starter kit (perhaps she’ll leave my makeup alone😉) It’s reassuring to know that women our age are wanting to wear makeup and learn new skills.
Wish I had this video a few months back before I want shopping for makeup. Spent hours being confused at the drugstore, looking at all the brands trying to put a starter kit together. I’m not happy with my purchases. Thanks for a very useful video.
I don't know why i felt comfortable reading your comment 💙
Zaineb cc Yes me too!
You couldn't have said it any better!!!!!!
For all of you who say this is still a lot of makeup:
"Natural" makeup is still wearing makeup lol. The point of it is to make it seem like youre not wearing much and just enhance natural features without being dramatic for everyday routines.
If you dont want to wear anything then work on skincare routines rather than makeup routines. Then you'll get to a point where you can use a light bb cream, tinted lipbalm, and maybe mascara. Or maybe no makeup at all.
being Ayushi watch Matilda on video for true minimal make up
@@aireyverse I would say you're too young to wear makeup at all. You're probably hormonal rn so you might have acne. Covering acne up with makeup just makes it worse. Focus on getting your skin clear and really soft and nice looking. Get into good self care habits now that you're in your teens. Look up videos on self care. I would also suggest starting to exercise.
@@aireyverse 🌻🌻czcams.com/video/_Mujr76xSdA/video.html🌻🌻
Anne I’m 13 and wear makeup almost everyday for school, I only wear concealer mascara and things like that but 13 is not too young for makeup it’s when most people start experimenting more, it’s everyone’s personal decision and not yours to make for them by saying their too young and also don’t call people who you don’t even know hormonal it’s rude
@@AnnieNugget I do skincare but it makes it worst, I figured everyone is better off without skincare, skincare gave me acne. I don't recommend skincare, haven't you seen those CZcams videos where they don't do skincare for a month and their skin is way better?!
I love that this video catches the essence of original beauty guru videos back in the day...When beauty gurus didn’t primarily use high end makeup and still gave tips and advice on makeup and application of it in a way that is beneficial to beginners 😊 idk this video makes me feel like I time traveled a few years back and I love it!!
Oh and when it doesn't depend on money and disgusting attitude
I know what you mean but I don't think we can buy that Neutrogena foundation here in Sydney and I'm not sure if they even make it anymore. It looks good though.
Can we take a minute to applaud her colormatching foundation
I just discovered your amazing videos and can't get enough of them. Going on 64, I had brain surgery 22 months ago and sort of forgot how to apply makeup. I've had to learn again and love your tips!
good luck!! 😙💗
Hope all is well!
Good luck 🤗
Holly Appel
Oh my lord! I wish you all the best after the surgery! I _just know_ you’ll learn even faster!
god bless you! sending my love🥰
I want to be a natural makeup girl but I have acne so :(
Edit: thank you everyone for the sweet and thoughtful comments! ❤️ I went to the dermatologist recently so hopefully I’m on the road to clear skin :)
we faced the same problem . and hope yours getting better !!
same girl
check out raimi reyes she does really nice acne prone make up
and flex your acne, it's yours! don't be ashamed or embarrassed of it :)
Same. If I try to go natural on the face, I might as well not bother because the redness and zits just poke through anyway, and if I cover them up completely I have to do full glam everywhere else as well because it looks unbalanced.
Cora Vukosich have you tried a little bronzer on the eyes and a tinted lip balm or something simple like that that doesn’t take as long as a full glam look?
Why does America get all of the good natural makeup? I don't get it. Let Canada have some too!
Gillian Ash in my opinion, asian countries like korea and japan have better natural makeup. try and give it a shot !
- milky dreams agreed! I only use korean products! Theyre a lot more natural
I know right!
- milky dreams I can't get it in my province!
Gillian Ash why not?
this is an og type of video! alleluia! thank you. i have been waiting for someone to go back to the basics with affordable makeup. thanks :)
I love the RT brushes not only for how well they perform but how amazingly well they hold up over time. Many lower cost brushes don’t hold up to repeated washing. I wash my brushes after every use, so I especially appreciate a brush that holds up well.
Ginny Burley dannggggg I only wash my brushes once every blue moon😂😂
Are they cruelty free? TY.
@@susanvirginia6037 All Real Techniques brushes and sponges are cruelty-free, vegan, and PETA certified.
Real techniques brushes come clean so easily and quickly. They also dry faster than any other brand I've tried. I can wash them when I go to bed or wake up, and they're ready to use within a few hours.
Hopefully i can find some of these products in my shade. I've been loving simple and durable makeup. But sometimes all natural makeup for WOC is so hard to find. 😧😣
I’m not a WOC but I am extremely pale (like the lightest shade in the fenty line) so I feel your struggle. Most drugstore foundations only cater to light to medium skin tones, not pale or dark 😕 hopefully that changes but I don’t see that happening 😔 you’re gorgeous btw 💗💗
you should check out jackie aina’s videos, she is pretty dark and in some videos she talked about this type of makeup, you might find something :)
AVELINE same 🤠😔
You can find the Neutrogena and the L'Oreal products in your shade, the powder and bronzer no, unfortunately. I recommend Black Radiance as a replacement for both of those. They have a contour kit that has a good bronzer color in it and good powder foundations that if used sparingly doesn't cake up. Good luck!!
@@zackitachi1 thank you! And i like Black Radiance powders and blushes. 😊
Neutrogena Hydroboost has been my go-to light coverage product for a a few years now. It's lovely on my mature skin (52) and lasts longer if you powder. Great choice for all ages!
this has become my #1 channel... each video I take away something that I personally can use... TY🙏
So kind - thank you!
Agreed!
Carmella B Yep I agree 100%
Carmella B after reading your comment I realize the same thing!
I like how well she explains why she recommends the product, why she likes it, and care enough to give some advices if we have different skin tones
Well time to take notes before I head to Walgreens!
Haha! Love it
Lol yeah same I have tried many but I want to try this foundation.
If someone wants to skip the shimmery look for their lips, the Burt's Bees tinted lip balms are great too.
I love seeing women doing these soft back to basics looks. Absolutely beautiful!
Do a video on how to get a good skin match from the drugstore foundations.
Get yourself matched at a Sephora or Ulta (they have professionals). If you're at Sephora you can ask for a sample and try to find a similar drugstore brand at Ulta (they have testers). I don't see anything wrong with using high end foundation because it sits on your face for hours at a time and your skin is absorbing it all. The MOST you'll find yourself spending is about 60 dollars for a really, really high end one you'd find only at Blooming Dale's or something. Makeup takes a little investing. Everything you can use drugstore.
@Asligne Cullen Well you should should do your research to see what brand you're interested in. You might need to mix two foundations to get the right shade.
Asligne Cullen
Some foundations oxidize and the only way to really know is by having it fail on your face an hour later 🤣 the struggle is real
My best suggestion is experimenting with undertones and swatching shades on the jaw and blending into the neck. You can see the difference in undertones better when it's on your face without makeup on. It's easier than the jewellery or vein methods.
I love these kind of makeups because with a few products you can get a perfect natural healthy look!
Most of the beauty youtubers use lots of products building them on and on layer by layer... takes a lot of time and the result is often fake-looking.
Your videos are stunning, like you 🤗
This is the only video I’ve watched in the last few years where I took notes and plan on buying every single product! (I appreciate that you included options for darker skin tones!!) I work in a high end clothing boutique and I’m expected to have a full face glam look everyday. Even though I’m a self confessed makeup junkie, I like to go more “natural” when I’m not “on”. This video is absolutely perfect!! Thank you! Thank you!!!!
Here where I live, REAL TECHNIQUE's sponge alone costs 15-20 $ and brushes are even more expensive 😞
Samee
That's unreasonable, have you tried eco tools or buying from Ulta when the sales room around? They have coupons for Ulta.
@@dianagarcia6017 we don't have Ulta here in the Balkans and ordering the brushes from the US is very costly cause the shipment is expensive
Don't be sad, where i live they cost like 30. Maybe she lives in Latin America
You could use disposable makeup sponges as an alternative to a real techniques sponge. Where I live the price for 1 is 10$ and two is 15-20$ but that’s considered the average price for those types. Disposable makeup sponges/ a simple beauty brush can do the same thing and are significantly cheaper. Elf has really nice brushes and they’re really affordable. Though I’m not sure how affordable they would be where you live
I loooovee the real techniques blush brush. Def a great multi-purpose brush to have in any makeup collection
Hands down Shelby you’re my favourite CZcamsr you’re just so natural and real.
Thanks so much!
probably the most realistic makeup tutorial where most people can afford all of the products + the tips are actually REALLY helpful!!
Love the layout in the thumbnail 👍👍
The tutorial ends and the minimalist in me says out loud- i love it!
I love how you multitasked with brushes and products, and also how easy and non time consuming this was.
i really like the brown eyeliner smudging
I’ve tried so many brow products and have found the nyx micro brow pencil is the best! It’s pretty precise and I love it! I get so many compliments all the time on my brows and it stays a good while. Highly recommend it! I get mine at target or on amazon
Madelyn Leonard LA girl has a really good brow pencil only like 3.99
Madelyn Leonard This is my fave brow product, too! And love the price! I think it and other NYX Professional products are on sale at Ulta right now based on an email I got.
M Rod I will definitely try that one
netcatzpj I’ve tried other pencils and I feel it works the best for me and it stays all day
Wet n Wild has a micro brow pencil which is really great and affordable as well!
I remember buying my first Burt's Bees lip shimmer and absolutely loved it! I continued to buy color after color and didn't care if it was a past trend. My local store stopped carrying it, and for a long time I couldn't find it and thought it was discontinued. Shelbey to the rescue with a link, and now I have several again. Thank you so much and great video! 💋
Melissa Leuice Their tinted balm in Rose and hibiscus are beautiful my lip but better shades. They double as sheer cream blush too!
@@katherinemargeson8082 thank you! I hadn't thought to use them as blush! Have a wonderful day 😘
I'm still wearing Burts Bees lip stick/gloss, in Watermelon. Ity had adv bigger light pink color not strong just a hint of color. Also, send the Pomegranate clear lip balm to my little granddaughter (it appears to be a vibrant berry color in the tube) , and has a faint Pomegranate taste ;) which she likes.
I love a natural look....and I wish there were more makeup artists who would review ‘natural’ makeup products. Many of the ingredients in makeup and personal care products are carcinogenic.
@blingmama610 some chemicals are good for us, not all chemicals are bad for us
Do you know of any good natural makeup brands with great ingredients list? I'm especially concerned with lip products, because we eat whatever we put on our lips.
4booky this. Also just because an ingredient is natural doesn’t necessarily make it good for us.
@@lanasa265 What I meant is what are some brands that don't contain harmful substances that can be detrimental to my health? I want to get into makeup, but all of this information makes my head explode.
@@usernameisunavailable8270 try Pacifica brand at Ulta and Target. Also Target has a section for clean beauty. There is a few channels on CZcams that does green/clean beauty make up.
Very pretty. It's nice to see a pretty, fresh look that's not too over the top crazy.
Wet & Wild photo focus pressed powder is a really good powder..as well as maybelline fit me!!
The burt's bee cream highlighter stick is amazing!!!
Essence make me brow Is awesome!
I love the Neutrogena hydro boost water gel moisturizer. It feels really refreshing and soaks into the skin without feeling heavy.
Okay let me tell you, it's my first video of your channel but i have to say: girl your camera and image quality are bomb af.
Thank you! ❤️
I love how that bronzer really livened up your face without looking like it was makeup. I don't know if that even made sense lol also I'm trying that eyeliner trick next time. Got a new subscriber here now.
Please do the same with high end makeup too. This was a really good informative video thank you🌹
Thank you! So many videos for starter kits have been high end makeup in them. Nice to see something basic..easy..and simple for everyday..from the drugstore! This was so needed!
The L'Oréal brow stylist Boost and Set brow gel is fantastic. It fills in a bit and keeps things soft and natural
your skin is so glowy and clear 😻🤍
Brow Product: L‘Oreal Brow Artist Plumper works perfect for me ( comes in blonde, brown and black)
Cream products BEFORE setting your face with powder, or your make up underneath may move around and become splotchy
Not in her book, at least
I tried the eyeliner trick and omg it's so pretty!! I'm definitely going to use that more often. Perfect for those days where you don't wanna spend too much time on your eye makeup but still look put together
Yeah I am gonna try this with my Laura geller kohl’s.
I appreciate you acknowledging darker skinned people, and pointing out tips for us
I love that Burt’s Bees lip shimmer balm. Lovely colour
Isn't it soft and pretty?☺
It really is. I’m expecting mine today
That eyeliner trick... Love it.
Nyx micro brow pencil is amazingg! I've been using it for a while now and it lasts FOREVERR
ELF makes a good little inexpensive brow powder kit you may wanna try. 💜
I just have to say your lighting is absolutely perfect. So many makeup channels have this insanely overexposed, washed out lighting that makes it impossible to see what their skin actually looks like and your videos look so accurate while still being very pretty
I love this type of video. Natural, fast, easy everyday look. And your hair looks very beautiful at the end of video.
I really liked this video. It's truly a tutorial done right. You have a knack for makeup that brings out the beauty of a person's features without looking overdone.
I've learned some great, simple but very effective techniques that work for anyone. Keep up the great videos.
DONT think any of the products would match me but that was a beautiful tutorial, and you looked so fab and natural great job sweetheart
I really enjoy watching your videos simple and not over the top or dramatic.
The trick where you blend out the eyeliner for eyeshadow... Seriously the best trick ive ever heard!!! Ive been doing it for a week and I have gotten so many compliments on my makeup !! Thank you💘
Thank you for not only being relatable financially but also so humbled and calm!!! You've most definitely earned another subscriber!!😍😍😍💓😘😘
omg , thank you for including a brush set ... i find that separate brushes can be soooooo pricy. i’ve been looking for the basics and this is officially only shopping list xo.
It's a great set!
Some of my Real techniques brushes are softer than my more expensive Sonya Kashik brushes and are definitely cheaper
Thank you for not using a cat ear headband. VERY PRETTY!
But what's wrong with cat ear headbands? 😱
OMG, the Neutragena products look BOMB! I've never even heard of that Flower Beauty bronzer, it's so natural.
Another great vid, thank you, ❤❤
A technique I learned from you and one that really made a difference in me is that you put the Loreal concealer first on your hand and then sparingly apply w sponge (instead of slathering on skin, like how others do it). Thank you Shelbey!
You can also apply less straight on the skin, without wasting product on your hand. Unless you enjoy the additional hand makeup effect, wbich could be cool for pigmentation I guess.
Beautiful fresh look. I was really surprised by the bronzer!
SInce finding your channel I’ve pretty much stopped watching other youtubers. I am 60 but still want to look nice with a natural looking makeup. You are so skilled at exactly that type of makeup. I thank you for putting out content that is so useful for anyone who wants to look fresh and natural, not overdone. BTW I have the same bronzer and love it. I am even more fair than you and it’s just perfect for me. Since finding it I’ve pretty much given away all my other bronzers. Thanks Shelbey!
I love the RT Everyday Essentials set! I have brushes from their older sets that I love and always wanted to try the blush, expert face, setting brush, and sponge. They put everything I wanted in this and couldn't resist. No regrets or complaints! Fantastic quality brushes!
I've never tried the Neutrogena powder bc ever since I bought elf tone correcting powder in Cool I have not used another pressed powder. It really does even out my skintone when I wear it alone, it doesn't look too powdery or cling to dry spots and it's a fantastic setting powder too.
cover girl easy breezy brow gel is amazing! it is super waterproof and lasts forever!!
you look like a 90's supermodel and I'm loving it
This is a fantastic idea, and you are a phenomenal teacher! Thank you!
Thanks so much!
Referred to this to set my grand-daughter up with her first make up kit. Thank you.!!!
Great starter kit and I love that it’s a natural look too! And a quick shout out to your hubby for not only being a nurse (me too!) but for taking a minute to tell you you’re beautiful!!!
Shelbey, I just want you to know that you are my favorite makeup artist. I just started learning about makeup a few months ago, and I feel late learning since I'm 24 already. I found your channel, and I love to constantly rewatch your videos so I can improve, and I really respect your opinions. Thank you so much for your videos!
thank you for giving us different products rather than all the same products everyone else does and please continue the great tricks like the eye pencil trick
loreal has a nice range of eyebrow products, also i love tattoo ink pen (the one with applicator that looks kinda like a fork) it's really nice for natural looking brows
Beautiful look.... I'm most interested in that Neutrogena HydroBoost tint 💕💕💋
Love you and your videos! I have skin issues and I am in my 30s. I like natural looks and practical. Love your videos and your approach.
You are so freaking underrated!! WHY DONT YOU HAVE MORE SUBS???
Flower beauty bubble brow! It's more of like a tinted wax, but it's good for fluffy model brows
Love the look and the ease of application! I personally love the elf eyebrow pencil (2 bucks, spoolie on one end, not too soft or too hard)
I love love love your videos so much. It is hard to find creators that are not always featuring a cut crease super glam look because aint nobody got time to layer 5 powers and a truck load of eyeshadows just to go to the market. Thank you for pushing your/our natural beauty to the front and focusing on minimal and classy looks. Merry Christmas.
Roxana Donahue Amen to that!
I have bought my oldest niece her starter kit and now I get to buy my youngest niece hers. 14 years old they get to wear bare minerals powder base, mascara, lip color and a very light blush. Love this idea. I also have to tell you every purchase I have made on your recommendation has been spot on. It s so nice not to have to waste my money. Thanks for all you do! 💗
Hands down I am 100% with Shelbey in the Flower Beauty Bronzer! I bought mine as soon as she reviewed it and I have used it everyday since! It’s beautiful on the eyes as well! 10/10. I love the mascara and I have two of the lip balms... Peony and Carmel! They are really beautiful!!
Also using some of your blush and bronzer in the crease looks natural and pretty
You are so talented I love how your eyes look with just an eye pencil xoxo
❤️❤️❤️
Shelbey Wilson 🤗 I’m just saying the truth
So natural and flattering looks. Stunning
Can’t find the neutrogena “foundation” in any drugstore in germany.. :(
Anne Semmler these are also not available in Canada :-(
Not available in Australia too 😕
I would recommend you the colourpop foundation (not the matte one, the more dewy one) it's pretty cheap, does the job nicely and they ship worldwide (I believe)
Anne Semmler same,i would buy them on the internet but As it’s getting very warm now (where I live the weather changes drastically in between seasons) ,I’m afraid of the conditions they may be kept in
I ordered mine from Amazon.
😂 drugstore products in Australia is about the same price as (lower priced) Sephora products
the same brush set is 50 bucks (AUD) :,3 no wonder I’m always so broke
Rachael Zzz , thank goodness Priceline does half price sales , and real techniques is always at tk max , I got a set for $10 from there 💗💗
BisousJazmine Y E S
Lmao I love how it’s called TK MAX in Aus and TJ MAX in the US
Rachael Zzz same :((((((
same in India...I can't even afford above maybelline nd wet n wild
Elf skinny browliner in great!! And cheap and lasts!! With a clear brow gel and boom! All done :)
I love this eye idea. I quit wearing any eye makeup many years ago because my eyes are so dang hooded, but I had a (subtle) blepharoplasty recently and wanna start wearing eye make up again but don't want it to be crazy. Just something soft but a little defined. I think this will be perfect :)
The elf eyebrow kit and also their clear brow and lash mascara are perfect to keep your eyebrows in place
You look stunning with the make up!I love the idea of starter kit
Love idea. Should give them a link to a great dry brush cleaners so they switch products too. Not many new to makeup know about it.
What a beautiful natural look ! Love your channel.... you are so talented and you have lovely skin already. Whatever you put on your skin always looks flawless ! This type of video is so helpful for people on a budget and I’m definitely getting the brush set ! Thank you Shelbey !♥️
I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I am in love with your light, natural, easy chic style. So refreshing! Love from France :)
Loved the trick with smudging out the eyeliner! Will have to try it!
I love the way you are using the eye pencil. I searched a good natural eye shadow for ever and there is all the time a shimmery/satin look that I don't like. Great idea, thanks for sharing!
She's so gorgeous even without any makeup! Love this natural look💖
The results are beautiful ♥️♥️ A little too much makeup for my everyday but the results are so seamless and flawless! 💕 I usually just spot conceal and mascara (maybe powder if I know it’s a long day and my face needs mattifying).
I am so glad real techniques changed the style of the brushes. The old rubbery curved handles drove me crazy. I am slowly replacing mine with the new format. I use most often - contour brush, buffing brush, expert face and the smaller setting brush is awesome for cream blush.
Your hair looks so pretty at the end of this video. Please do a hair tutorial. I love the way you use eyeliners and then smudge them. I'm 52 and my skin wrinkles when I try this. Could you show this look on more mature skin?
Derma E skincare and Physician’s Formula are cruelty free and great choices. - La Roche Posay is also great for skincare. Their cicaplast line doubles as a soothing moisturizer and primer.
- Milani is another inexpensive high quality drug store choice. It is cruelty free too.
- Cover girl has recently gone cruelty free and their anti aging concealer, primer, and foundation are excellent quality.
- ELF is another great choice.
- W3LL people is awesome too and available at target. Their mascara, tinted moisturizer, setting powder, blush bronzer duo, and lip colors are awesome.
-Nyx brow powder and ELF are great.
- For brows, you can also get the Pixi shadow and brow palette. Pixi’s lip colors are dupes for Fresh, their eyeliners are dupes for Urban Decay and they are clean and cruelty free.
- Burt’s Bees and Boots are two great lines for skincare and makeup that is more natural.
- Physicians Formula blush, tightliner, and 3 stick warm nudes kohl liners/ shadows are great in lighter skin
The elf brow pencil is fantastic! The one in the white package! It’s a thicker tip and is super creamy and is crazy long wearing. Not to mean it’s like 3 dollars and available at Walmart!
Your channel has definitely helped me embrace natural makeup looks and I have never felt better!
So glad to hear this!
I love this look! This is perfect since I also have hooded eyes and the eyeliner alone gives so much impact. You look sultry yet very fresh 😍
OMG, this is exactly how I less need to do my eyes in high school!! (The smudging upwards, so that it looks like eyeshadow) I won'teven tell you what year it was but it was before 1970-- *way* before--during the Twiggy years😨🌝🤗
I look forward to your helpful hints - you make the steps seem so natural - great video!
