Creating GIANT TREES in Photoshop - SciFi Speed Art!

- In this week's #photoshop #speedart I'm focusing on scale and narrative; following a thrill-seeker as they dare to climb a giant #tree on some distant exoplanet.
This piece took 4 Hours to complete and is primarily a mix of photo-manipulation techniques as well as some digital painting where needed.

Man, since I want to learn this, I get crazy just watching.
adding things like: snow and icycles to the treetops . . . aswell as a decent ammount of dead or broken branches to the older trees
could also improve the sence of scale
afterall most of large trees on earth also have some ammount damage . . so why not add that too ???

I quite like the idea of a drone that’s basically a mobile oxygen tank, but I do think there are a lot of potential problems with the idea that could be frankly disastrous at such high altitudes. Still a cool concept!

holy moly, I want to climb trees like that now. In my opinion(I can't do manipulations anywhere close to what you can do), I think trees that have larger branches and more of a cover would've made the trees seem a lot bigger

That blending together of the trees and matching the light sources on each of them is really insane, I have trouble enough matching the color on two pictures let alone the cascade of different pictures you're using here

Do you usually start with a sketch and then find stock images, or do you just look for stock images and build based on what you find?

These videos make my Fridays even better! Love the concept of the guy being tethered to the Drone! It sparked my imagination in the piece. Where did guy came from? Because of the drone, he doesn't "just happen to be there," he prepared ahead of time to make this climb. Maybe there's a truck WAAY back down on the ground with a bunch of Hi-Tech climbing equipment.
