- Xiaomi 14 is an (almost) compact flagship phone that is launched to compete against Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus. In this review, I did a through analysis of the phone, the battery, performance, AnTuTu test, and CPU throttling, and also compared the camera to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Exynos. Xiaomi 14 has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 similar to the S24 US version.

In China it costs 500 Euros (if you convert). As soon as it gets out of China, price gets doubled.
This is why Chinese phones outside of China doesn't make sense.
EU mandated a 2 years warranty law. So Xiaomi has to make its phones last longer than just one year. That's why it costs more in EU.

I don't feel comfortable to order a phone from HK anymore like I did with my S10. The HK S10 was just awesome.
To me in Germany it's still the better deal... Especially when you get it with a mobile phone contract. With my big contract these phones cost me exactly the same about 50 bucks a month (mobile contracts are expensive here I know -.-)
And for the same money this is the much better phone: double the storage, better chip, more Ram and arguably the better camera
And since I wanted a compact phone and won't buy apple again my only choices are these two (my contract provider did not have the Zen phone sadly)

I agree the fingerprint is too low. Xiaomi 14 pro has it higher up but sadly not same size and not in europe.
I am using Xperia 5 V right now, but I am switching to S24 Ultra. I love the Xperia 5 V and I am only switching because I want to try out Samsung phones. I have an iPhone 14 too from work but frankly I never personally connected to iPhones even though I have a MacBook, there are too much restrictions, but they are reliable. Thanks for the comparison! Any issues with foggy lenses? (condensation inside camera module, eg after leavinf warm room and taking out your phone in colder, more humid environment?)?
Oh man, I did get the foggy lens and I thought I was just imagining it... I now regret that I didn't mention it in the review....
With water proofing/IP68-rating that sounds like factory didn't do good work in control of humidity:
Because humidity of environment can't get in, that means condensation must come from air inside the phone cooling to its dew point.

Does anyone have problems with camera fogging (going from warm to cold or vice versa)? I'm also interested in the battery life (if someone uses 2 SIM cards, a little playing games, a little photography, using it for surfing the Internet and social networks / applications, while the mobile Internet is turned on non-stop)?

GSMArena got results at least matching S24 and in case of web browsing nearly 40% longer endurance.
Also Notebookcheck shows better results for apparently those what they've tested from S24 so far.
I am so glad you picked up Xiaomi 14 for review. I was thoroughly impressed by your review of Samsung s24 and its comparison with s23 and s24 SD. Currently, I am confused between s23, s23 plus and Xiaomi 14.
I love the compact form factor of s23 but I have apprehensions regarding how its 4k mAh battery will age two years down the line.
I love the s23 plus except for its size and bulkiness.
The Xiaomi 14 seems to offer the best of both worlds.
Kindly do more detailed comparisons of camera. Also, I would be thankful if you helped me make my purchase decision.
But either s23 or plus...never go for Chinese phone if ur budget is high or flagship

Xiaomi uses Li-Po batteries and they degrade faster compared to Li-Ion batteries that Samsung uses. Xiaomi 14 has 90w charging, but that will further degrade your battery life even more. I've read comments where Xiaomi owners experienced a drop in battery life after one year of use. With Samsung you don't experience a noticeable difference until after 4 years. And you can easily send your phone to Samsung and for $100 they can replace your battery and seal your phone so it's waterproof again. With Xiaomi good luck getting your battery replaced.

I'm sure the manual brightness you mentioned on Samsung was in the Extra Brightness mode, you can't get that amount of nits on the S24 in the normal manual mode
The EU cost is much higher (even compared to CN, SEA after converting the cost there to EU) mainly due to shipping. The reason for overall increase in prices across the globe is the BOM.
Looking to buy a new phone. Not an IPhone fan, also not a S24 exynos version that we have in Europe fan. The choice seems to fall between Xiaomi 14 or Honor Magic 6 pro. Which do you think I should get? Most important things I need are a good battery and camera.
I didn't try honor magic, but I like the battery life and photos on Xiaomi 14. The only downside is the camera bump is prone to get fingerprints hence the photos becomes blurry from time to time if you don't clean the lenses.

Hard choice, I like Xiaomi 14 but the updates are not as regular as S24+. It's a nice snappy phone and I like the natural colors of the camera. S24+ can be a nice option too.

@pavlesan199 It gives me 6 to 8 hours of active screen with about 14 hours of use, it reaches the end of the day without any problem the truth, it is very good equipment and the issue of the exynos 2400 I have no complaints, very happy with this device

No frankly, S24 SD is one of the best compact phones I've tried. Xiaomi 14 is slightly bigger if that's what you want.

I think Google Pixel 8 under 700 euros. And at the same time the 9 will be a much better deal when it will have a telephoto camera and the same 7 years of software updates and probably a price of 800. I remember in 2019 I bought a Xiaomi mi 9 for 380 euros even though it was their best phone at the time.
But Pixel will use Exynos, while the Xiaomi is using the best Snapdragon chipset

Much weaker battery, overheating samsung-made CPU-Unit, 30W charging... Only camera is better, that's all. You dont need 7 year support, I dont need it, no one need it. We all know it.

Hi, I would pick Ultra :) Only downside to Ultra is the size, if you don't mind large phone you will love it.
Maybe its a bit pricey but it comes with 12Gb of ram and 512GB of storage as standard.
Xiaomi 14 is probably the killer of Xiaomi Brand as phone producer. Today I took this phone from the operator. I was deciding between Samsung S24 and Xiaomi 14. After a long consideration, I decided on Xiaomi because of the display, fast charging, 512 GB storage and other parameters where Xiaomi had the upper hand on paper. During the reviews, I came across a problem where people complained about the fogging of the camera lens when shooting a video, especially when transitioning from warm to winter. I thought it was a problem of some defective pieces. How big was my surprise when after 2 minutes of shooting my first video, the lens was completely fogged up and the video looked like fog in an English horror movie. The temperature was 10 degrees. and I was outside for about 20 minutes, so there can be no question of a sudden change in temperature. It is completely pointless to argue about the phone's equipment when it fails miserably in video recording, where it is completely unusable. I don't know if Xiaomi has already officially commented on this, but it's a piece of cake. In my opinion, it is a big excuse to withdraw the entire batch of Xiaomi 14 from the market. Incredibly disappointing and very bad advertising. I'm returning the phone tomorrow.

One thing I noticed about that AI thing in image is that, when you choose one of those sky options while editing the photo, and if the sky is reflected on the water, surely the sky changes, but its reflection in the water remains same as in the original picture.. This needs to be fixed I guess
Yes I agree, that's why I used this specific example. But probably this is simply too complicated to get fixed.
i ordered the xiaomi 14 on a data plan. It was €780,- that way. thats much more acceptable than teh 1000 euros when buying it directly.
This device could have been solid if it's priced lower than the base s24 and iphone 15. With that price range, might as well buy samsung and iphone for longevity, more stablw software, faster software updates and better after sale services.

@@user-co8cq1mm4b that all depends on the user already. If you are into apple ecosystem then choose IOS. OneUI meanwhile is the most stable, feature rich android OS out there. Pixel with its native android is good but pixel is still kinda buggy every now and then so yeah OneUI is the best for android and IOs if you want apple

You mean in terms of battery efficiency? Snapdragon ones are often more efficient.

Finally I decide order Xiaomi 14 CN rom with 16gb+1tb for about 720 USD (970 SGD) since Global ver pricing doesn't make sense... 12gb+512 global ver sold at SGD 1559 or 1159 USD (bundled with mi pad 6)... The difference in specs and price is massive...
The Chinese version doesn't support all the international frequency bands so expect patchy signal. Here in the UK they cost around £550

Overheating is one of the main problems that you should consider when you buy a smartphone. Even exynos 2400 don't heat that much
Software quality including updates
Main reason is brand name. Samsung is more well known around the world.
Better performance only on camera. Look at how ridiculous the camera bump looks. If it wants $1,500 from consumers, performance alone isn't enough. It has to look equally elegant.
S24 is iphone of android no one can match it
X14 cost £682 for 256gb and £740 for 512gb and free Xiaomi s3 watch worth £106 in Malaysia. Xiaomi, Vivo and Honor have the best price/performance in Asia.
The BOM is the main cause for price increase across the globe. Shipping also increases the prices. To make the phones suited for EU rules and regulations, the changes they make are also bumping up the price.
I think Xiaomi are still maintaining the same level of profit margins throughout

I would over S24 but not Ultra. The colors are more natural, I don't like the oversaturated pictures on S24. The battery is also better.
Xiaomi 14 512/12 is now on promotion on my provider and can buy it for 760 Euro for 2 years contract, where the S24 Exynos 128/8 is 850 Euro. Also there is a gift Redmi buds 5 pro.

I find it a decent phone, the only problem I had with it is that the camera bump gets fingerprints super easily and if you don't clean it your photos will end up being blurry. Samsung phones also get updates more regularly. If you care about battery life go for Xiaomi 14.

I'll wait for longer reviews and comparisons ofc, but why beside the lens problem why are ppl bashing Xiaomi and chinese brands.. I've had Poco f1 and am now with Realme that's basically Xiaomi and have had no problems. Brand worship seems (let's go with) silly in 2024. I also want software updates, but if my hardware cannot keep up, what's the point.. i'm looking at Exynos here. The Apple and Samsung worshipers are the main reason i never bought one of those devices, are ppl in a cult or something.. 😂

What's the use of a 7 year software update when the battery won't last 75% of it. And if you buy the s24 now, in 7 years the s31 will be out which will make the s24 look like a mere baby. Imo 4-5 is best for software updates. Max 6

Samsung was so lucky. Many bought s23 when price droped, and few others the new sting they offered to us, EU users. The apple guys did what they had to do, and xiaomi will look in the mirror and cry for the incredible bad timing. I wanted to buy the new xiaomi, i looked at every single video i could find, even in chinese. After a lot of time from the european launch, still not many reviews of the x14 on youtube, at least from big youtubers. Why? It's obvious... not much interest from people. Why? Because nobody has need for a phone like x14 in march. One of the last phones that can be used by a normal person with normal hands, with ease. But last to show at the table. I also did what 99% of people did. I bought a samsung when i saw a good offer, because x14 was a big question mark at that time. Very poor marketing strategy from xiaomi.
Get the 14 Ultra
Not released here unfortunately yet. I will compare it to S24 Ultra when it is out.

The Xiaomi photos look blured compared to S24.
There is a strange problem with the camera that someone mentioned in the comment section. When the weather is humid, the camera lens absorb water between lens and glass protector, and hence the photos become a bit blurry.
Also another reason it looks more blurred in comparison is because Samsung always sharpens their photos. Xiaomi prefers to unsharpen theirs (DSLRs always unsharpen, so now you get where that idea is from)
xiaomi phones have always been good specs wise but doesn't translate to performance much. Like you can take photos with the main camera but then the integration with socmed is gonna be so crap in contrast to samsungs and pixels

@@Cptblogh The brand ecosystems are much better, far better lifespan and support. Actual stores to go in for assistance, more customer support options. Atleast in North America everyone uses those 2 brands. Maybe in poorer countries they have others but mainly those 2 here
