    Rick You made a fantastic thought provoking suggestion - "at least you 1 billion+ should take care of your heritage"
    KOW US LITTLE MORE :- we are largely mentally enslaved, designed to hate and ridicule our heritage and ancestors, process started (as a policy by brits and continues till date)...
    In fact, Bollywood is only industry on earth where on each award ceremony, each interview, they SPEAK that language which is NOT the language of that industry (hindi) and make them stars. Most of "stars" actually go on suggesting "oohhh maaan, I ain know no hindi - with sense of pride at that"..
    With due respect and love to each language, this scenario can make you understand, how deeply the termite of "hate for who we are - has gone into our psyche"

    • @madkaps6614
      @madkaps6614 Před 4 lety +2

      Over exaggeration man! We don't hate our culture or languages.In fact 'culture' is making a comeback, what with the internet etc. making us aware. But popular culture will be more popular than classical arts. For example pop music is immensely more popular than classical western music in the West. Unfortunately that's how the cookie crumbles. But I agree our classical arts DESERVES a much bigger and wider following.

    Thanks for your words at the end. It is definitely a new world where it's difficult for new generation to realise what is art and what is not. Luckily our generation (90's born) were one of the last ones to have grown up on real art. Helps a lot now to separate all the trash on the internet from real art. Parenting is definitely become the most important thing than ever before.

    With your reaction, I have a hope that more and more people (if not in india, elsewhere) revive these great arts and chose them as career. Frankly, Indians have the tendency to appreciate their own things when foreigners applaud.

    The number of dance forms and states u know of South India did not exist untill the modern times. This art form along with many other like poetry, singing and instrumentation etc were all conducted for centuries, were performed in king's court (darbar) was just for royalties and God. This is common for all us Indians and seen enough. Though I agree that more are watched by foreign Indian classic dances.

    A great time to be in India is the Dec-Jan timeframe when India explodes to music and dance. Chennai music and dance festival lasts between Dec 15th & Jan 15th, with over 1,000 programs crammed into a month. Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, and a few other cities also put up music festivals around that time. Of course you don't need to spend all that time consuming music & dance, but you would probably be witness to the best of the best even if you could keep aside 2-4 days for this

    I’m not surprised that these videos don’t have more than a few million views RICK; Most of the people are pretty bogged down by their day to day lives and while people are familiar with the dances they mostly see it in person if they are enthusiastic about it; this particular dance is mostly a cultural aspect of south India; as north India has its own dances one of them being BHANGRA from the state of PUNJAB which is one of the many popular dances.

    There are innumerable folk art forms from different states on India. One lifetime won't be enough to watch them all.
    Manipuri , Rajasthani folk dance. Dandiya , kollatam . Malkhambh. These are just a few.
    Watch Malkhambh. You will be spellbound.

    Another important thing about kuchipudi is that it started as dance drama form performed by the males which was a deviation from the traditional devadasi system. It explains the quick scintillating style too.

    It’s very popular in folk dances of North India such as Kalbelia where dancers dance on plates, with knives or fire in their hands or heads etc. check it out that’s quite impressive.
