Audio is fantastic, what did you use to record it?

Thanks! Shure MV88+, some of the on-camera audio is still in there but it's mostly the Shure that I EQ'ed.

@@TheRealConcertKing Would you mind sharing how you set this up practically when you're at a concert? Do you attach the Shure to your Sony or to a separate recording device? And doesn't security come up to stop you as soon as they see a "bigger" set-up, i.e. camera and mic rather than just a smartphone? I'm genuinely curious, because your recordings are great!

@@silence447 I have a grip I attach to my camera's tripod mount, GP-VPT2BT for my RX100 and when I use another camera, I have a similar one that's not wireless. That makes holding the camera a little bit more manageable. I have a shock mount for the mic and attach that to a phone mount (just for some added length) and I put that in my breast pocket of my vest or jacket, and the mic is plugged into a phone via USB cable. I sync up the audio when I edit the videos in DaVinci Resolve. The RX100 has the ability to connect a mic directly via 3.5mm jack, but a) the MV88+ can't do that since it's a USB mic and doesn't have it's own power, and b) I get paranoid that something would happen with the external audio source and then I'd later discover that I have no usable audio, so I like having a separate audio recording and can mix them together. And if something does happen to the externally recorded audio, at least I have my on-board audio which is worse but better than nothing.
I generally haven't really had much issue with the mic at shows. I would argue that it doesn't violate any of the rules as they typically say audio recorders aren't allowed, but it's just a microphone and not a recorder. The phone is the one actually recording, and they don't disallow phones. Going through security, I have it in a small pouch and it's not an issue unless the security are total overzealous dickheads and want to go through every single thing in my bag, including my tylenol, ear plugs, and lip balm (like at The Observatory North Park in San Diego). The grip has posed more problems since venue security doesn't understand it, therefore they claim it's against the rules. There have been occasions where I am allowed to bring in my camera but not my grip, so I have to sneak the grip into the venue.

@@TheRealConcertKing Amazing - thanks so much for the detailed answer! I can tell the amount of work you put into your recordings. You must have very long-lasting batteries for everything. 😉 I go to a ton of shows, very often as a professional concert photographer, and obviously in those cases bringing in gear is no problem. But when I go just as an audience member and want to film something, I'm always less than impressed with the results on my pocket cam, so to read about your set-up is ace. Thanks!

So this is where all the Djent chicks are : Sleep Token shows.
Real good version of Vore here
Other vocal parts sound a little lackluster at least in the videos - might feel different in real life.

Agreed. Though I'd say they sound pretty good overall. Biggest downside for me is the singer's lack of stage presence -- but he's a young dude, he'll probably grow to feel more comfortable up there in time.

@@DLundgren22If you're talking about Vessel not interacting with the crowd as "stage presence", this is how the band works, they search for this mystique kind of thing of not interact with the crowd
