- The family’s trampoline gets destroyed during a super rare December storm system. The family finds themselves in the middle of yet another derecho with severe thunderstorm warnings, tornado watches, high wind warnings and potential power outages.

I legit was panic watching on the 15th. Then when Houston County had the tornado, there were massive tears. Ended up having to call my family in SE MN to make sure they were okay, and then turning around and calling NE Iowa family. So much damage. It was insane.

I heard that there was 34 tornados in 5 states that killed alot of people. I feel bad that they had to go through that. Mother Nature is crazy.
I think they said 21 touched down in Iowa 😳

I also had a tornado watch in December and where I was at there were heavy winds blowing against the house and sirens going off. When I was in bed too.
We had strong wind warnings in Ks that same day with the temp in the 70's too. I was planning on going out after work to do stuff but seeing how the power lines where swinging, I decided to stay home after work

We feel very lucky especially seeing what other areas have experienced.
The weather here in Australia is crazy too. We are having thunderstorms constantly and temps are way down. So glad you all have the basement to go to. Love to you all.

We will always remember that day that the devastating storm destroyed thousands of homes in Iowa and stations in Iowa and power outages in Iowa and Wisconsin and a confirmed tornado in Minnesota that it hasn't lived through this is in my history books now to remember that day

Hi from Cedar Rapids! Not that far from you and I definitely agree on all the crazy weather we’ve been getting! I was standing outside recording when it was coming into Cedar Rapids. It was so windy and that continued for hours! Sirens went off during my first video. Met the mailman outside and he finally decided it was time to bail!
I will always remember this day, it was traumatizing. My mother and my sister were at work at the time. A tornado hit just by my mothers work. I was home alone with my friend, my brother, his friend and my sisters friend when all of it hit. We lost power here for a while and had bad winds. It was bad over here. I personally love storms and rain when they are nice and calm or with just a little bit of wind, anything past that freaks me out. It tore up some of our towns around here.
That must have been scary for you.
I remember this day. We had just gotten home from school and we immediately had to go to the basement. I live in the country outside of Nebraska City. Our power was out for 2+ days and we had to stay at my grandmas house. Glad you guys are safe.

I'm glad y'all are safe! I was watching as the storms came through and started spawning tornadoes and I remembered that y'all lived near Dubuque, so I kept an eye on things near there as well. I did worry a little for you guys, though I know it's just normal weather for the most part for y'all and I remembered that y'all have a basement. Hopefully there isn't any more severe weather this season. Stay safe!

I went to a university near the Quad cities years ago. I'm somewhat familiar with the area. I now reside in the Chicagoland area.
On February 27th, we had about 11 tornadoes that touched down ( EF0 AND EF1). My youngest son attends a university near the quad cities now. I was wondering if you vlogged that day in your area?

We get the warnings watches but dont get many tornados but none has ever touched down by me so we are not known for many tornados here in West Allis Wisconsin but Wisconsin itself gets them but West Allis Wisconsin we dont get very many just none has ever hit by me once it went over my house but did not touch down it hit 14 blocks away . We are very grateful there are many people who lost power and more.
My great grandma lives in Rudd and thankfully she missed the tornado but she swears she heard it. We lost power and had some damages in areas but thankfully nothing of ours it was areas in the open. Power lines fell on a street we take to Mason City and my dad had to reroute his way home from work. He lost connected taking shelter from his call to me he texted all of us asking if we were ok cause he wasn't sure if we got hit unexpectedly. They set off the sirens because of how strong the wind was. Idk how but we managed to keep wifi up. My brother was all when is the power coming back on and I play a game that keeps me busy and I go idk, doesn't bother me as long as the wifi stays up lol. Some people were unfortunately out of power for a day or more because allient was trying to restore everything meanwhile they had to put a stop inbetween the storm itself and the winds that followed an hour behind it cause it was too dangerous for them. We were only out of power for about 3 hours.
This weather is like nothing I can remember in my life it’s so crazy 😳
It was bad here in KY, I got woke up by the sirens at 3:00 am, it sucked because the tornado siren hasn’t went off in a while since Summer time in 2020 or 2019 I don’t know, but luckily the storm didn’t hit where I was

At least you weren't in Kentucky! We had 60s in SE Wisconsin. By the time the derecho line was approaching Milwaukee metro area it fell apart. Western Wisconsin had an EF3

i remember in december i heard the tornado sirens go off randomly when we were eating dinner and we had to rush downstairs and i was so annoyed because im like "reallly in december?!"

I live in treampelau county Wisconsin and when I heard there was severe storms In the MIDDLE OF DECEMBER I was shocked but we were hit pretty hard and we were safe

After the 2020 Derecho went through and our aftermath in Cedar Rapids we prep everything. I studied aviation weather and love it so I watched this storm coming with my fave CZcamsrs livestreams n storm chasers from Nebraska into Iowa. We had record breaking temp’s here! There were multiple continuous tornado warnings! I didn’t lose power for once!! My living room window leaks now since derecho broke the seal sucking it in n out. Only realized it recently cuz faces south.
It’s crazy how this storm happened and how many were affected by it.
@@LoveJarVlogs that storm hit us so bad on 12/15/2021 we got a tornado watch severe thunderstorm warnings everything up in Wisconsin when that storm is getting closer and closer and also it will happen again on 12/15/2022 please just hope it won't happen again

Dude my county was issued for a severe thunderstorm warning when that happened and I'm surprised that my county wasn't even issued for tornado warning because I was in the same thing you guys were in

Oh I know how you feel on December 10 of 2021 we had a really really bad tornado outbreak I’m glad you guys are ok pray for everyone that suffered through these stuff enjoy you and your family’s life and remember do not be scared be brave and always know the angels and the gods will protect you I was apart of the outbreak I live in Arkansas USA 🇺🇸 my city and state suffered through it 😔

We had a severe thunderstorm and tornado warning here in California back in January of 2022
Weather is wacky here in the NW. It has been really cold getting down into the 20's at night and really not warming up during the day. We had a dusting of snow maybe up to 2 inches. Today (Sunday 2 Jan) it is suppose to get windy.
We finally got snow ❄️

Edit: I'm surprised there's been tornadoes in December! We had a full quad-state tornado that normally happens in Spring! (Thank god I dont live in those areas)

Tornadoes are common in the winter, primarily in Dixie Alley. This year has been a big anomaly. If this pattern keeps up, God only knows what the spring will bring. Hopefully nothing like 2011.

I live in the quad cities. So not far from you. Unless the sirens or my phone goes off, I just don’t think much about watches. I don’t ignore them but I have a storm shelter and an emergency kit. This seems so dramatic for a watch but maybe this was super bad. When the sirens go off, I bring in my outdoor stuff then take cover. I usually try not to act all anxious in front of the fam because that can make kids unduly frightened of garden variety thunderstorms. I know tornados are to be feared and respected, but I get actually more anxious for derechos.
Yeah this was pretty unusual especially at Christmas time. We definitely stay calm in storms too, it is important to, especially with children.
That was a crazy storm that hit you guys i was in missoula spending time with in my room browsing through Facebook and came across the photo of the drecho that hit the quad cities and dubuque my mom said on Facebook that it was crazy for iowa and wanted everyone to stay safe
This is the difference between a tornado watch and a tornado warning in case you dont know
Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development for tornadoes
Tornado Warning means that a tornado has been spotted or confirmed by radar and you need to act quickly to save your life when weather strikes when i lived in iowa this badly i kept my ipad fully charged in case the cell service was down for my parents to check the radar

This was essentially a winter derecho.
There were 43 confirmed tornadoes in our state on this particular day we actually did have a winter derecho this same month 🤦♀️ This weather has been nuts.

And up in the East Wisconsin it went up to 70° in December when that storm hit
Is your family okay? That storm was insane, 100 mph winds! It’s been raining in my area and windy on last Monday and Wednesday (the same storm hit me on Monday but it was weaker, the winds were 20 - 30 mph with gusts to 40.) Weather in California is not as intense as Iowa.
