Letâs be thankful that Nissan brought this car, on their own without reaching out to a German company. Beautiful car!

BMW isn't true German the true German is Mercedes and afaik the only german in the Nissan Z is the mercedes source 9 speed auto

That's why im not buying the supra
@@mayuravirus6134 that mercedes 9 speed transmission is in so many cars, even a few Lamborghini cars have them
3.8 seconds 0-60 starting under $40k? That's a home run.
the 9spd auto is 3.8, the 6spd manual is 3tenths slower
The manual is 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds. That's right there with a 2005 Corvette. Impressive for a little car.
@@moisesojeda1085 that's to be expected M3 competition is rated at 3.8s 0-60 and that only comes with an 8 speed, only the M3 comes with a manual, at least here they have manual as an option, and it's not a slow manual by any means, it's still faster than regular versions of Porsche 911
So what is the 0-60 for the automatic and manual transmission?
Considering that 0-60 is not their focus with this car, its pretty impressive.
They are focused more on driving feels and reaction than pure numbers in this car and still manage to make pretty damn fast.
good review per the usual!! I had a blast with mine this week. couple more days before they pick her up from my house.
Have you consider to change the tire? I've watch some reviews and they don't like the Bridgestone that much, Michelin could improve this car even more I think.
The torque and horsepower are so finely tuned and absolute that it's phenomenal. Joe went you went "on throttle" out of 2nd gear that was super impressive. The car drives and rides as one solid piece of machinery. Very nice.
Yeah was it? Over him fuckin screaming
And how would you know this or compare this car with Supra, Camaro, Mustangs or Challenger?
@@mosesolatubosun5445 You have to be very intune with the car. Listen when Joe shifts up and down, watch the car during shifting, listen to the engine when shifting is happening, feel the car. Listen, see. It's almost perfectly designed. It's not over charged and it's not undercharged. The engineers that put this car together used a lot of either common sense or math.

Another great review, Joe. Great piece of work from Nissan. The aftermarket will go nuts for this car.
I waited for the announcement of the new Z, once I saw what it looked liked, I ordered a Nocturnal Black Supra. Wanted a Z my entire life, and was shocked I went with the Supra. Never drove the new Z so I can't say anything about that, but love the way the Supra drives and looks.

I'm honestly kind of bummed now. I was really hoping to be able to afford the Performance trim of the Z but at $50k I think it's just unattainable for me right now. Extremely unfortunate and I don't want to settle for the features that the Sport trim offers. Thanks for the great video again.

Love this Z, am definitely going to buy this as long as the dealers don't mark these up. Give me the 6MT.
Don't worry. The dealerships will definitely mark them up, at least until demand dies down.
So, don't be in a hurry to buy one.
Exactly!!
Wish you luck finding a dealer who won't drag you across the coals. Literally all these hot enthusiast vehicles with demand are & have been seeing markups and almost all the vehicle manufacturers are ignoring it. To my knowledge, only GM & Ford are standing against it by revoking said dealers from acquiring more of these vehicles, essentially being blacklisted.
Try ordering straight from Nissan.
@@viktorbryce951 GM and Ford arenât actually doing anything just so you know because they unfortunately really canât do much and donât have the ability to stop price gouging. Itâs right in the dealer/manufacturer agreement that the franchise dealers are able to charge whatever they want for the cars and that the manufacturer cannot step in and determine what they sell them for, hence why itâs call MSRP: manufacturers âsuggestedâ retail price. The letter was sent out to curb dealers from agreeing to MSRP at time of order and then at delivery time charging over and above the amount that was told to customer at time order was placedâŠ..for that they can thankfully get involved

Just wait until you drive it.
I was thinking the same. I love my 370z and I came from a 350z. But Iâve decided I want the new Z.
Okay Joe, this was just awesome! Appreciate you showing us the Zs capability on the road and the track! My favorite part about the Z is actually the two tone color setup on the outside. I think every color looks great on the Z but for me I think the yellow looks the best myself. It's smart and so stylish to bring in the two color tone into the interior....super smart! The front end still is a hit or miss for me, but Nissan you did the business and so did you Joe and Lori! You sure had fun Joe and so did I, and you know what they say: "What happens in Vagas stays in Vagas!" LOL đ

GREAT CAR and I'm glad it's here. But my 2 cents as a multiple Z owner. I'm gonna find it hard to spend 50k ON A CHASSIS that is 20YRS OLD and started out as a $25k car! An engine that is 8 yrs old that has no discernable improvements. Parts bin parts that have existed in the car either 20 years or12 years depending on which part. I think the Z is worth 44k in performance trim and 37k for the base car. Considering Nissan kept raising the price of the Z for 3 model years and had to go back to the original $29,900 pricing to go from selling 2 000 cars a year to 7,000 a year? They could end up in the same situation? An automatic Z weighs as much as a manual camaro SS, Gets similar numbers and had all the features the Z has now, they had the past 8 years. Plus you get 4 piston brembos all around and a standard mechanical lsd. All for about 41k, in a 1.1g car on the skid pad The first year, the suckered will be all over it and pay anything.... then comes year 2? Supra gets to charge BMW prices for a reason. It's the BMW supra straight from BAVARIA!
You said 12 & you delivered! My man
GREAT REVIEW, LOVE THE DRIVING!
Ok... here's my honest opinion (and as a current owner of the 350Z Roadster, )... but Jo can you answer this... forgetting straight line performance, what's it feel like driving to the 350/370? Also, does it feel quality built like the old ones? Does the gearchange and clutch feel "small" muscle car like the old ones did? Compared to a Supra/Z4... which is it's competition... which one?
Upsides: Rear of the car is superb, looks fantastic and harks back to the old days and yet modern. Side profile really pretty and nicely proportioned. Looks like it drives fantastic as all "Z" cars should... and chuffed they've kept those pod dials on the dashboard. It's awesome that a company is releasing this kind of car in todays age of SUV blandness so Nissan should be congratulated for that! Seems to sound the business without being too noisy!!!
Downsides: this interior looks more old fashioned and cheaper than what is in my 2007? The front is IMHO appalling it's like a Mazda MX5 and is just boring compared to the sides and rears. I can't believe it's not called a 400Z or whatever and just Z... it's like there's nothing to continue the history... even if the engine capacity doesn't match the name anymore... just doesn't feel right being a "Z". Also, not that we'll know for some time, but Nissans quality has been going down for the last decade... and I'm worried about that engine and lastability... the old 350/370z engines were pretty bombproof (even if made with Renault)... I'm dubious about the new engines based on Nissans demise? Let's hope they have solid quality control as per the GTR!!!
It has much more feedback.
Your happiness said it all.... Love the sound and the look. This will be my new toy soon.
Thank you, as always great video (watching now). Track Observation: Isnât it frustrating when you have to follow a lead car? Iâd want to pass⊠Although, I get it, itâs not about thatâŠbut still đ

That pricing makes no sense. I'll believe it when it's official from Nissan. 25% more for the performance package? Meh. But then only $3K more for the special edition that there will only be a few hundred of? Doesn't make sense. $39, $45, $53 or so would make more sense.
That engine sound is a symphony. Thereâs no other way to say it.
Tell me about it Jonny!
I had a 370Z sport tech and would totally buy one of these but I am in a 2021 Mustang GT currently. Also Door panel..i love how people cant exit a car without dragging their feet across the bottom of the door panel. Sarcasm...it drives me crazy.
Like wise. I had a 350z 40th anniversary i think it was, then a 370z NISMO. I then went to a 21 Toyo Supra did that for 6 months and was just left uninspired by it. Now have a 21 GT500, I am at home and happy. Still love the Z cars. maybe one day again. I am very happy where I am at right now.
You are missing alot, i would advise to look for a 1ss 1le camaro with magnetic ride and track capability. It is pretty much the best bang for buck sports car you can get. I m coming from a 15 gt pp.
@@al151 Thanks happy with my GT500..
@@al151 I went with more a daily driver focused car....which is where a mustang > camaro. I got all the luxury features and the only performance oriented items are the active exhaust and the the optional 265x20 factory wheel/tires. I don't plan to mod it. (I've had GT500s, Steeda racers, C7 vets, S level Audis etc. in the past)
Now if I was still interested in track level performance....I'm w you 100%.
Thing about the Z is that it was a 10/10 car in that you could basically push it as hard as you wanted and just have fun. Unlike a GT/SS/Scat pack and up where you constantly have to driver modulate .
That's a weird complaint but the Z was fun for similar reasons to why I'm also a huge miata fan...it just needed a little more power....and now it has that.
Just a drive the crap ott of it in a carefree experience with smile.
The last mustang ihad like that was a 2010 GT Track Pack with nearly all the GT500 grip mods but only around 315hp.

Thanks for saying that!
Exactly at 12 just like you said lol
And how would you say the steering is compared to a q60
I saw 3 vids about the Z that popped up at 12
Beautiful car but IMO that price point automatically puts it at a disadvantage, especially given dealership price gouging. I figure the prices more realistically will be
Base : $45-47k
Sport : $50-$55k
Proto : $60k+
As someone who has been car shopping around the $40k marker, I already know Iâm not gonna get my hands on any decent Z for that price. Iâm better off going for a nice 2 year old used car at this point. Shame cause I really wanted the Z
If I understand correctly, you have to buy the performance trim to get the big brakes and LSD. That's $50k+. That kills the value proposition right there. If the base price for a sport model was $35k, and $42-43k for a performance model, it would be a winner.
Before the price release I expected the performance model to be at around $52K, I am surprised. There is not much you can get for $40K nowadays for this performer, except a type R.
Exactly what im saying, the only way this car competes with the supra, mustang and camaro v8s is with value. now that its literally a thousand bucks under, AND the supras getting a manual next year, the performace trim is a very hard sell
@@rawalqayyum5128 yep. But the base Z version is not bad at $40K. A base Supra is $52K, Thatâs a $13K difference after Tax. The only thing you are giving up on the performance models are larger brakes and wheels and the LSD. To me not worth the extra $11K.
Hereâs the thing about those. Those 4 piston brakes are the same brakes Nissan has been using in the 370Z, G37, Q50, Q60, etc. If your really looking for value you can upgrade to them yourself for around $500-$700. I did this with my Q50. Also LSDâs can be swapped out by companies like Z1performace for less than $2000. So if your really looking for bang for your buck you can build your base Z into the performance spec. Obviously there are other small features you wonât get like the bigger infotainment screen and stuff, but brakes and lsd will definitely improve the drive.
@@jml9550 the base 2.0 supra is 43k. No LSD in a 400hp car is like a track star running with one shoe.
Nissan Actually understands the people who want an affordable sports car with a reasonable price. Compared to the new Supra.
I must admit I was quite surprised to see that Joe didn't have the cojonesđ±đ± to overtake the other vehicles on the track, especially when they slowed down. I assumed he was a better on-throttle racer than that. I am more than a little disappointed he didn't just whiz by and show them his Twinkie. But I'll probably buy a new Z once the price settles anyway.
I think they put the better drivers in the front. Also it would be bad form to try to aggressively race during a press event...
You are freaking hilarious Hans!
You are incorrect about them putting the better drivers in front.
â@@RaitisRides Well, i know you have a professional racing background. That doesn't necessarily mean that the event organizers knew that. Even so, maybe the order is completely random. I know in one of the Hyundai events at Sonoma, the 2 lead drivers were pro race drivers Michael Lewis (IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, TCR Class drivers' champion for Hyundai in 2021) and Paul Gerrard, and they were driving Konas while the following cars were in Elantras. I don't know if all the Hyundai N events were run that way, and it seems not all other track events from different auto manufacturers use pros as lead drivers on the track...

The 10k jump from Sport to Performance would have been tenable if it was from 35k to 45k. As is, 40-50k is too close to the Supra. The Z is recycled parts and isn't as fast as the Supra in either iteration. 35k starting would have grabbed a bunch of BRZ/GR86 buyers, too. Nissan screwed up.
Nissan definitely screwed up. 45k would been the perfect price for the performance. 50K!!?? Hell no!! And with dealer markups..it will be 60k plus! Forget it. I'll get a GR86 which some of the reviews says it's alot more fun to drive anyway.

I hate how these so-called call reporters never say anything negative about a car does. The only thing that could make this POS any worse is if they added the CVT. The disappointments with Nissan never end! 50k+ for thisđ€Šââïž
Gotta love twin turbo manual power joe!!
This is the first car I've actually been excited about since 2008. Nissan did this one right. I just want one in blue
Outstanding video Lori and Joe!!
Man Iâm pumped about this car.. canât wait until I get a chance to go on throttle!!! Definitely going with performance model.. how could you not?
Little bummed the price jumps 10 grand though 39-49⊠thatâs a huge jump⊠I was expecting 45-47. đ€·đŒââïž . Oh well, still beats the Supra in my book pricing and all
they will sell the hell out of that $40K model omg ... this is the next bets affordable fast car after the Elantra N
Honestly I think for the money the interior is a major letdown. I had a 370z and thereâs so many parts pulled straight from it (the interior door panel is the EXACT same). Exterior and performance is spot on, I just think that interior is not going to age well at all, which seems to be typical of Nissans these days. I donât want a luxury experience, but I donât want to feel like Iâm in a sport trim Altima
I know it isn't going to make everyone happy.
Finally, the embargo have been lifted. I would get the based sport model in a manual transmission to save $10k. It'll be a good daily driver. A super sport motorcycle is a lot more engaging and exciting on the track.
Dont buy the base. No LSD means one wheel burnouts. Its a joke they even have a non LSD in a 400hp car
@@beexiong2995 it's fine. Lsd are overrated. Its a cruiser anyway. Save 25% of the price. You can get one put in.
@@Victic005 you are kidding right? No LSD is like running with one shoe on. You are gonna see one wheel spinning and the other just sitting there doing a one wheel peel out LOL
@@beexiong2995 I'll be alright. I won't take it to the track. I'll keep the $10K.
Sounds like this is the best âpound for poundâ sports car that will be available for car enthusiasts at a great opening price point
I think you may be right Wilfredo!
Nissan really did an amazing job on this car. I hope Acura and Subaru learn something
Double R doing it once again! đđ€đœ
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
@@RaitisRides brother, we appreciate the enthusiasm you 2 show on every video! đđœđđ€đœ
