    Ingredients
    1 cup flour
    1 cup water
    2 tsp. cream of tarter
    1/3 cup salt
1 TBS vegetable oil or coconut oil
    food coloring
    Instructions
    1. Mix together all ingredients, except the food coloring, in a medium saucepan.
    2. Cook over medium heat, stirring. Once it begins to thicken, add the food coloring.
    3. Continue stirring until the mixture is much thicker and begins to gather around the spoon.
    4. Once everything is mixed and consistency is dough like, remove and put onto wax paper or cutting board to cool.
    5. After cooling knead playdough for a few minutes.

That's how I used to do it years ago when I had a little one and was a childminder. I used to make a much bigger batch and keep it in an airtight tub. It doesn't last like play dough though, so check after a couple of weeks, before letting kids use it, as it can grow mold despite the salt.

Another one I've used that definitely works. You pour in some flour, then add the same amount of salt. Stir that in. Then take some water and you add food coloring in that. Then slowly add the water about a teaspoon of water at a time, until a dough starts to form. Then, go in with you're hands. If it's too sticky, add more flour. If it starts to crumble add just a splash of water.

If you would like to make ornaments with Presley, Ford, and Tess around Christmas time you can get flour salt and water, roll it out, cut out or use cookies cutters and then bake at 200 degrees fahrenheit for 1 to 2 hours.
It is 2 cups flour, half a cup salt and 3/4 cup water ( maybe a little more). And roll out the dough to 1/8 and inch thick. PLEASE MAKE THERE

Here’s one of them that’s made of cornstarch!
3 tablespoons or spoonfuls of cornstarch
2 tablespoons of baking soda or powder
    1 tablespoon of salt.
Mix it with 2-3 tablespoons of water or more till it’s creamy.
Then microwave it for 15-30 seconds. Then mix and wait for it to cool.
    ( warnings! )
Make sure you don’t add too much salt or the play doh can crack when drying.
If it’s sticky add some cornstarch.
If the dough is too hard then apply some water to your fingertips and mix it in.
