Would you like another video on Roger Deakins' cinematography and what lessons we can take from him? Let me know down below! Also you might have seen in the intro that this is episode 1, that is because I want to introduce a new series where we talk about photography and filmmaking hence the title "crossings" so if you want us to chat about other cinematographers, movies just leave your comments. Thanks so much for watching :)
Yes I would like a video on Roger Deakins cinematography please. I enjoyed this video 😊
Love this!! Oh yeah have you done anything on Wong Kar Wai? He seems like someone you would enjoy! Cheers for making such great vids, loved loved the intro!
Absolutely!!
@@richardrizzo_photography great!
@@Resgerr great, thanks so much!
I think the reason he says colour photography is difficult for him is that when you do documentary photography by yourself you have no control over the colours that are there in the scene you photograph. When you do a movie on the other hand you're working with an art department and together with them you have full control over all the colours in the scene via the set design, costume design and lighting.
💯 thanks for watching and commenting
This was great Tatiana, I always loved Deakins films but I didn't know about his photography until now which are quite amazing to say the least. Thank you again!
Yeah I really like this street photos! Thanks so much for watching Rich! 🙏🏻
Thanks for this Tatiana. Very interesting. I think looking at the work of cinematographers is always really valuable for both stills photographers and videographers. Inspiration is always a good thing and we can always learn something. Roger Deakins? Definitely! Thanks...
I agree, thanks so much for your comment and cheers for watching!
Thanks for this fine video and yes, I’d definitely enjoy further insights into Deakins cinematography. I shoot mostly B&W with my little Fuji X100V so always enjoy your take on monochrome photography. 📷🎥😀
Perfect we’ll need to do that then! Thanks so much for watching and definitely keep putting that Fuji up to a good use :)
Been involved with still photography for 25 years First time i have heard of Roger Deakins' , Life can be simple and complicated at the same time, stationary and busy, but yet never stopping for no one
Great video, Tatiana! We (photographers) certainly can learn a lot from other genres like filmmaking or other artists. Other filmmakers/directors that I find inspiring: Christopher Nolan & Quentin Tarantino. I also heard that Steven Spielberg sees and thinks in 21mm (FOV). Knowing little things like this changes the way I watch movies.
Keep up the great work, Tatiana.
such an inspiring video! i loved it!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
I c
would love another Deakins video. There is a lot to learn from his cinemaphotography
I've often wondered where you find the time to create such sensational mini documentaries on such photographers as Jason Lee, Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch, Brendan Fraser, W. Eugene Smith and Gina Lollobrigida. Plus create your own photography for sale your website. I've watched several of Roger Deakins' films such as 'True Grit' (2010), 'No Country for Old Men', 'Sicario', 'Skyfall', 'A Serious Man', 'The Company Men' and 'Dead Man Walking' for some direction or ideas with my own photography. I was unaware of Deakins' work with still photography. You can see Roger Deakins cinematographic influence in his photographs. The leaping dog is my favorite!! I don't agree with his philosophy about deleting images or throwing away negatives, however that is his choice. Thanks for making for us aware of Roger Deakins amazing photography. #Nikon rules!!!
Love that comment about our individual eye being our unique equipment. Please more on Deakins❤
Thank you!
Great video! I love learning about photographers that I’ve not encountered before. Very well presented! Thank you!
Thanks for watching my friend, hope you’re doing well!
@@TatianaHopper I’m fighting the flu, but other than that I’m doing well. Thank you! I hope that you and yours are doing well! Have a safe day! God bless! 🙏🙏🌹🌹

Thanks! Ahah :)
Thank you, Tatiana! I did not know about Roger Deakins. It's nice to hear a new name that I can investigate. Thanks for all of your work putting together great videos!
Thank you so much! There’s a link in the description for a local archive that has a lot of his work in display it’s worth to check it out!
Hey Tatiana, You’re films are fantastic and have been a huge inspiration for me! Rodger Deakin’s is a favourite of mine since I saw “The Assisination of Jessie James..” Another favourite is Łukasz Żal, and his Cinematography on “Cold war” and “Ida”.
Like Roger Deakins, my first camera was also a Praktica SLR! It was considered to be poor man's Spotmatic but was a workhorse for several years and produced some wonderful photos.
That’s awesome I learned a bit about it while I was putting this video together, cheers for watching!
Thanks!
Thank you so much David!
Love the intro!

I’ll check it out :)
Great video, where did you get his Contact Sheet?
Answering your question : yes please, thanks.
Cool thank you!
I woud love to hear you talk about Finnish photographer Pentti Sammallahti. He was one of the 100 photographers that Henri Cartier-Bresson him self chose for the 2003 opening of the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation in Paris.
Oh I’ll have to look out for his name, I don’t think I’ve come across it before, thanks for watching!
May I suggest you also look up the two Danish photographers Keld Helmer-Petersen and Jacob A. Riis. I think you'll find both interesting.
And thanks for A L W A Y S making very interesting videos.
MPB may be generous to you but as a seller my experience was sadly less!😮😢😢
More Deakins!
