Has Design Space always had limits for removing background? I'm not a member and I'm sure I was able to remove background in the past. Is this new??? Thanks for the tutorial!

Well, I could have sworn that they had a background remover tool before October 2021 too, but in a press release from Oct 5, 2021, Cricut is saying the 'Automatic Background Remover' tool is new and only for Access members. Feels a little shady to me to be honest because I know I removed backgrounds before October of last year...

@@BlackSheep303Crafts I know I did that also. just clicked on the space and it removed it......Now you have to pay for that? back then I don't think you were left with the lines. Just another limitation by Cricut. That's why I purchased a Cameo. I haven't mastered the machine yet, but LOVE LOVE the software. so when I need something - I bring it into Silhouette - then once I've got it how I want it - resave as SVG. if need-be - bring into DS and cut. just make sure to check the sizing. it does tend to not import as the same size. make a note of the size in Silhouette. then adjust as needed.

@@ssergeant9682 I do the exact same thing! I agree Silhouette Studio is a much more powerful program. But, it can intimidate a lot of newbies. I mention Silhouette Studio Business Edition as a workaround in my blog post, but some people may not want to spend the money on it (totally worth it though). I agree completely about the sizes in Design Space. Why things come in at a different size from what the SVG is saved at is a mystery to me...

@@BlackSheep303Crafts If I was going to hazard a guess - I would say it has more to do with DS than anything but I actually haven't conducted any experiments (like opening in Inkscape etc). now you have me curious. I did read a post that said to LOCK your Silhouette design and you'd only need to input one dimension when you bring it into DS. it should automatically input the correct other dimension. or (lock it) and put the dimension (one of them) on your file name.

Had to check. I brought my saved SVG into Inkscape and it came in as it was (sized) in SBE. just thought I'd post. so it looks like it's once again Cricut that is the issue.
