  • The 1st of September is Australia's National Wattle day!💚💛
The most iconic Australian plant is the Acacia. Our nations floral emblem, with foliage of green and flowers of gold are the inspiration behind our nations colours (when it comes to sporting events at least!) and what better plant could represent us! Wattles grow all over Australia in dwarf forms to tall, towering trees, easily spotted throughout the ‘burbs and the landscape during late winter and early spring by their golden glow and delectable scent. But they’re not only native to Australia. Acacia are found in Africa as well and are just as iconic. Think of the large, flat topped trees silhouetted against a beautiful, hot African sunset and you’ll be thinking of an Acacia!

What is the flowering period? How many months does it continue to flower? Are its roots vertical in the ground and horizontal at the same time? What is the speed of its growth? How many meters does it reach in height? Is it thorny? Do the thorns continue even after it reaches an age exceeding five years? Thank you.

Late winter and early spring. It will flower during that period of time. Yes roots grow very deep and the width of the roots is roughly the same as the canopy of the tree. Growth is about 1m a year. Max height is about 6-8m. Acacias generally have small thorns and yes that's right.
