  • Piers Morgan is joined by actor Omid Djalili to discuss the struggle for women’s rights in Iran.
Omid has been outspoken on the unrest in the country, using his social media to give a platform “to the voiceless”.
Piers asks the comedian if he’s worried after experiencing attacks on social media.
Omid answers: “I worry a bit for my mental health. I’m trying to give my social media over to the voiceless. At the same time, it’s important to get stories out.”

Omid Djalli is brilliant as always. Such a genuine bloke.
What Iran is doing is awful. Sticking up for British values is paramount.

If he supports free speech, why did he call gender realist women 'nazis'?

So the women are fighting! Why can’t/don’t men stay and fight for their country? Why would young men give up their country and leave women and children behind? Women, kids, old people should be given refuge until Iran is sorted and then should be helped to return home. Isn’t that the point of refuge?

      My thoughts exactly 💯
They run away & leave the women, children to fight! Pretty much cowards.

I don't understand the logic behind this comment. Everyone is fleeing the country, not just men. Men who have families naturally also bring their female family members along with them; why would they want to bring stranger women and children (which they can't anyway)? Women who can emigrate on their own do so without any problem.
Besides, the protests in Iran didn't only involve women. There were just as many men on the streets as there were men. The face of these protests were women because these protests were _about_ women and their rights.

This interview is a dishonest representation of the pressing issue of the Illegal Migrants.
Military-age men fleeing their country of origin whilst abandoning the women and children is morally reprehensible!

Exactly 💯 but that's why MSM don't really report on it! When he said an audience at the BBC all put hands up, u thought well obviously, it's all 🍾 socialists who don't get any immigration & if they do its all excuses on not enough of services in their areas! Such fake ppl the left.

Does it not seem strange to anyone else that everyone wants to come and live among us yet think we are racial xenophobes?

Well the thing is they know law in the western societies protects them. Also, economy in the west makes an average person have a sustainable life.

edit- As Salman Rushdie is voiceless will you give your social media over to him?

There's an important message in this, we need to be careful that in our actions to deal with our immigration problems, we don't screw over those who genuinely need sanctuary from barbarians. There are still people who do.

Why do people take issue with being sent to Rwanda? As a Ghanaian living in Ghana and having lived in the U.K. for many years I know for a fact that Rwanda is doing very well and has far exceeded my country in development. If people are fleeing persecution what is wrong with Rwanda? Am I missing something?
