  • In this video I show how to hide the horn and relocate the coil between the cylinder heads on a Harley Davidson Dyna.
    This eliminates the ugly horn found on most Harleys and cleans up the look of the bike.

    As a mechanic the thing i dont like about this is moving the coils close to the cylinders. They get awfully hot and those coils may not be designed to handle that kind of thermal stress.

    • @xc8487
      @xc8487 Před 5 lety +2

      The coil gets hot in its stock location and blocks air to the rear cylinder. This setup won't hurt the coil, and will cool the rear cylinder by about 10°.

    Excellent Video man. Especially nice since our Dynas shake so hard being rubber mount and with the factory chrome bell it exaggerates even more. Plus I bet cooling is slightly better with it off the jugs. Plus symettrical shorter coils on plugs

      Thanks wapartist. Yep, I like the symmetry. This is definitely one of the best modifications I've made to my Dyna. Arlen Ness makes a billet coil cover that I'm planning to pick up... that'll finish it off nicely.

    Under the seat is not a good place for the horn. If they don't see you, and don't hear your pipes. They surely won't hear the horn under the seat.
    I relocated my horn to the top, front of the frame below the neck. It's almost out of sight, and sounds louder than the original location.

    Why would you want to relocate the coil? Just leave it where it's at or replace it with an Accel coil (More gooder juice). Now take the old horn off along with the bracket and chuck it as far as you can into the swamp. Then go find yourself an old Harley Service Car and take that horn and mount it to the frame above the oil filter on the Wide Glide. Can't see it and it sounds great! Good luck and Happy Motoring!

    Everything you just did you could have done out of pocket for next to nothing. Toss that horn in the trash its nothing but a false sense of false hope.
    The engine mount is easy to cut and smooth with a grinder. IOW cut the bracket for the horn off. Keep the coil in stock position and its really a clean look.

    • @DobermansRock
      @DobermansRock Před 6 lety +6

      Good thing it was an Arlen Ness product. Kuryfuckin will bust the bank with even shittier parts.
      The add below the video states $197 for their relocation bracket. I can buy a grinder and a lot of wheels for that much money. Running a Harley that is not stock. Putting my coils on my engine would be like jumping in water for a breath of fresh air. Just what I need. Put them in a place that vibrates more and is hotter.
      It don't work no more but, it sure looks good parked in the garage. Fucking hood ornaments is all 80% of Harley riders are. They don't work on their bikes, they own more shit that says Harley on it than they have miles or trips. If their bike quits they won't know why they just call AAA and let the dealership put gas in it for them. If they do work on their bike they added a fucking valve stem cap or some crap like this. Then invite all their dumb shit friends over to drink beer and admire the new knick knack.
      Bunch of rich old guys who want to go play badass for the weekend. The dealerships bore me, the new bikes suck, the Dyna is gone right when they became the bike to want for the misguided masses, If you order a part at the dealer they charge shipping, I think their customer lounge is bigger than the shop.Its bust man. They stacked their walls full of shit made in Taiwan, used up too much floor space on clothes racks, have enough shit to fill a house to the roof with Harley logos. Yet where are the serious bikers who don't want chrome and leather? At home making the shit they need.

      That was me DobermansRock. I got my 09 superglide and all the previous owner had done was put 120 dollars with of corny foot pegs and V&H Side Shots with no intake or tune. I put new bars on the bike, and when I was putting in the clutch extension, I found transmission fluid that was the consistency and color of melting earwax jello. This poor thing had been abused. I installed everything, bleed the front break, and then made my own cable extension for the stock speedo clamp to use it at the top of my 13 inch t-bars. I absolutely love it and I did it all in my apartment garage with my buddy haha.
