    My first pipe was a Medico and they make good hand warmers and I still have that pipe after 20 years.

    I bought a straight and a curved Missouri Meerschaum corn cob to see if I really enjoyed pipe smoking, and I do enjoy it. I've just bought a Joyoldelf pearwood pipe. I don't smoke often, and this should suffice as next step.

    Well i already ordered this lol. I hope it works well enough for now. I did order a pipe from pipes and cigars so we will see which gets here first lol.

    Yiiikes!! What a "bargain!' Hehehe. My first was a $30 Grabow, which is fine, but in hindsight, I think a $6 cob is the way to go.

    • @RayRay80

      Agreed, I can't recommend a cob enough for those just looking to see if they will like pipe smoking or not.

      I've been pipe smoking for 40 years and cobs are the pipes I prefer over all my briars. And I've got some very nice briars.

    Lol. I bought that brand to check the reviews. Now I spent $11.99 it's currently $14.99. It is pear wood and a pipe. I tried to burn the chamber, Crack it from heat. Drop from over head. And we'll it's a good pipe, for the price.
    I still have it, smoke it and keep it in the garage. Worth the $14.99 at today's price.

      I seen that one on there and have it on the list. Pear wood is acceptable and a decent wood for pipe tobacco. I have one pipe made of pear wood, and do smoke it occasionally. Thanks for the recommendation and for watching, brother!

    When I started back I bought the Scotte starter kit for $35. The pipe is pear wood and it is not bad. The carrying case is nice but it’s PU not leather. The tobacco pouch is a little small and has a magnet in it to hold it in the case. I’m still using the case. It will hold 2 MM CG pipes. The pipe tool is a little nicer than the Czech tool. I would recommend it

    • @RayRay80
      @RayRay80  Před 3 lety

      I seen that one on there, but will probably get just the kit that has the pipe and the tool to review. It's the same one, just without the bag and stuff. My very limited experience with pear wood is favorable tho and I'm looking forward to testing them out.

    • @piperken1656
      @piperken1656 Před 3 lety

      The draft hole is not bored straight so it’s hard to get a pipe cleaner through it without taking it apart. I still smoke it some but I have pretty much gone to cobs for now

    • @RayRay80
      @RayRay80  Před 3 lety

      That's one of my biggest peeves, and the biggest reason nearly all my pipes are straight stemmed. Paladin Piper pointed me toward DiscountPipeDepot on Etsy, the prices are crazy good.

    I live in AZ. I'm familiar with smoking weed and I don't think most people would really want to smoke it out of something like this. Generally, glass is the standard for that kind of thing in the same way that briar is standard for pipe tobacco. Also, I have several Ukrainian and German style pipes that are made with metal inserts. The Ukrainian pipes are made out of cherry wood, so I think that's why they tend to put an insert in there. The German pipes I own are all made of briar, but every so often they will also have a metal insert. The Ukrainian and German pipes smoke great and are my favorites along with my traditional clay pipes.
    Great video!

      Interesting, is the metal coated? And I though glass pipes were for crack lol. Shows how much I know. I always rolled, went nearly to the T's one year using telephone book paper :P Been a log time ago tho, I think I was 16.

    I really like the idea of this series. Don't you thnk that a typical Missouri Meerschaum pipe is the best place for a new pipe smoker to start out with? That or a clay pipe.

    That would be an enormous amount of weed to smoke in that bowl! Along with whatever enamel is painted onto that metal. The smoker would be stoned so maybe that wouldn’t bother them… 🤣

    my first pipe was from them, I had no clue what i was doing. Crappily made, holes not drilled to line up didn't smoke worth a damn. They suck big time. Bought a cob a week later. Far better
    The Joyadelf I had was made out of olive wood

  • @chroniclesofapipemaker5175

    I think its funny how u keep baggin on cheaper brands and it seems like its all because the price point wich is lame i bet u dont smoke cobbs either yur basis for the opinion you just expressed is based off of what u typed in the search i have a joyoldelf and its not briar but its wood and its a damn fine smoker i smoke it all the time i dont see how u can think thst only briar is good when pipes have been made out of all kibds of wood from the beginning so to over look that just because its cool to smoke briar cuz it makes u a better piper or whatever your thinking is just weak its like being in high school andvtrying to have the coolest shoes and clothes and baggin on the poor kid for having hand me downs

    • @RayRay80
      @RayRay80  Před 2 lety +1

      First of all this is the same video you watched and commented on over a month ago. Not sure where you get "I keep baggin". Second, if you watched the video, you would know that I recommended getting a cob instead of this. My favorite pipe is a cob, a country gentlemen...which I mention. Third, this is a plastic pipe that is advertised as wood, I felt a warning was in order for people looking to purchase this for pipe tobacco. I could care less what people smoke out of, but I will call out fraud every time I see it. Your assumptions about me are dead wrong, brother. Thank you for being honest with your thoughts, and I hope this helps clear things up.
