    "What do Zombie's do?" "They can kill somebody." I'm laughing so hard. You do a great job at not letting hilarous answers derail you. Thanks for this preview! We start tomorrow and we have half days all week so it's nice to watch your videos as a reference for my first year. Thank you for all of your information!!! Currently laminating. :D

    That little man in the blue polo is a good listener! What is your advise for doing this if I only have 4 tubs?

  • @StayClassyPioneer

    When do you teach them what to do in each tub? How do you execute that without it being overwelming?

    Love your videos. When do you introduce centers, ie first week of school, second, etc?
    Also, do the kids have free choice where to sit? Do you ever alternate their seating?

    what kind of task/activities do you have in the tubs?

  • @nataliewestcott6731
    @nataliewestcott6731 Před 7 lety +7

    Have they already practiced many of the activities in the tubs? How do they know what to do so independently already?? Very few are asking for help! Somehow they know how to use all the materials correctly too (like the clothespins - they aren't playing incorrectly with them and being silly). How is this going so well SOOO early in the year?

    • @gregsmedley
      @gregsmedley  Před 7 lety +8

      We had not practiced or introduced these prior! This is the real deal Day 1! It's lots of modeling and procedures and expectations! And a little luck!

    I see you get to video your class often. Did you have separate permission to include your kiddos in your youtube channel? I'm just starting my channel and want to video some lessons because I have an open concept classroom but I'm curious how parents will be with their kiddos being on youtube?

    • @gregsmedley
      @gregsmedley  Před 6 lety +5

      I get admin permission, our district media release for each child and a specific release for social media for my class.

    Okay, never mind I think I found your video about how you set up centres. Another question though - what's your system for finished work? Where do kids put it (esp. stuff from centres)?
    Need a bit of help with the organisation side of things.

      If I'm not mistaken, he said when they are finished with recording sheets they put them in their cubbies to take home. He says he doesn't check them.

    You have such a small class! Recommendations for a kinder class of 28? Ive done centers with 20 and 21 students but 28 is a lot!

    • @reddeer1758
      @reddeer1758 Před 5 lety +1

      Could you do it as part of a rotation instead? I had 29 children last year and that worked well for them.

    I'm confused. Why do they get a green tub when they have a blue tag?? Where did I miss the directions??!!

    • @gregsmedley
      @gregsmedley  Před 6 lety +2

      The tags have nothing to do with their centers. Those are just their name tags. There are other videos on our CZcams page explaining the details!

      You should try the wheel system. Just have more groups! So you might have 6 groups of 5 or so!

      I think you are off track as to what this video is about, which is introducing centers to my class. I don't "teach about zombies" in my classroom and that is not at all what is happening here. This is themed material in centers that help the kids practice what we are learning. At halloween time we have centers that are halloween themed such as witches, spiders, bats, frankenstien, zombies etc... At Christmas time we use Christmas themed material such as Santa, reindeer, Christmas tree, ornaments etc... Same goes for Valentines Day and Spring time on and on.... I hope that makes a little more sense and thank you for watching!

    • @gregsmedley
      @gregsmedley  Před 6 lety +12

      They're not toddlers. And they talk about zombies all day long because it's what they watch on tv.

    • @reddeer1758
      @reddeer1758 Před 5 lety +6

      Toddlers? They're 5 years old, they're young children. Most already know about zombies because they play fantasy games with each other, have books read to them and watch TV/play video games. Makes it fun. I doubt I would even be angry if someone told an actual toddler about zombies for the same reason. But hey, you're entitled to your opinion.
