@rayanalzahrani8756 that's a bloody good comment tbf mate 👍
@@rayanalzahrani8756how many other competitors pulled 500kg in 2016 and won WSM 2017?
@@rayanalzahrani8756if you are smaller than your opponents in strongest man then you have an advantage in most assignments. the distance between your joints is smaller, so that the transfer of weight puts less strain on the joints and the muscles and tendons are also shorter. and of course eddie had/has one of the best cores in history. very massive, broad, muscular.
@@dimisegers3095 If being smaller was an advantage especially in strongman you would have many more shorter people competing. Eddie is literally like 6ft 3 and being described as short like common bro. Being taller is the bigger advantage in this sport because it’s possible to pack more muscle and weight onto your frame. Good insertions, levers etc are good and important but height is clearly a huge trend here.

I’m more than a match for Eddie. I’ve been recovering for years and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Exactly. It’s not the exercise that makes you strong, it’s the recovery after the exercise that gets you there.
It's the exercise that makes you strong. Recovering all week with no exercise does nothing.
@@aaronbarlow4376 You obviously didn't watch the video as the strongest man in the world takes a week to recover (instead of 10 days) AFTER his heaviest lifts and that's what gives him his advantage, according to him - so your comment isn't particularly informed matey. In fact it makes you look like someone who is clueless about serious workouts.
@@russellhawkins366 You obviously didn't read my comment as I said that it's the exercise that makes you strong, recovery enables that strength to set in. I never said recovery wasn't important, I just said that it wasn't the only thing that makes you strong. Honestly you come across as a casual who doesn't even lift or understand basic English comprehension.
@@aaronbarlow4376
It’s a bit difficult to delve into the full meaning of what you were trying to communicate in just the few words you wrote - and it looks like it’s been the same vice versa.
Over the short term the exercise makes you weaker. Try repeating a set of heavy weights and see how you do when fresh as opposed to tired. (You’ll do much better when fresh.) Then after getting weaker in the short term you then get stronger over the long term after a good recovery period appropriate to the task. The exercise regime for passing special forces selection in the military is almost the inverse of our hero’s in the video. Many people are not aware about the full benefits of a total recovery - and high injury rates attest to that. (Check out the considerable sales of pain killers for things breaking in the body, as over training can lead to injury, which in turn can result in weeks, to months, to even years in recovery. And yes, those scenarios do make people weaker. The trick is optimisation of exercise to recovery in order to peak when needed - and, most critically, to avoid injuries by doing exercise after an appropriate recovery.) I hope that clarifies things.
@@aaronbarlow4376 the recovery itself is what causes the muscles to grow
the excercise jumpstarts the recovery process by tearing the muscle fibres

Why does that line still go so hard "what people don't do is recover as hard as me that's where I get the advantage." Know where you can get the slightest advantage at the top of your game. Eddie Hall, what a beast
Eddie Hall was once struggling to get his deadlift up, never knew why, then he realised it takes a week to recover from heavy deadlifts, that's when he started getting the deadlift up. Recovery and sleep is everything.
Eddie's very inspiring for sure!
Eddie Hall speaking words of pure wisdom, proper recovery time is as if not even more important than specifics of your lifts

Creatine, antinflamatory diet, sleep, massage, stretching, ice baths, Epsom salts, supplements, active recovery and few other things I do to recover and one of the most important parts is hydration and blood flow.
For Eddie, this much recovery totally makes sense but for the average person, 10 days is too much. He says you can then train a muscle every seven days after recovering but for the average person, some muscles can be trained in consecutive days. His absolute loads are greater so he needs more time but if your SBD and other lifts aren’t towards an advanced level, you don’t have to wait as much.

10 days?
He spoke about extreme deadlifting (over 400kg) taxes the body and nervous system so much that it takes ten days to recover and go for a higher weight
@@nc8982 No, he's talking about heavy deadlifts (near 1RM), it doesn't need to be 400kg, it can be 200kg if that's your 1RM
@@oggan97 you don't need ten days at that level though. Theres just a limit to what a human body can do. 200kg is well within that limit for many men. Going above 400kg stretches that limit to the extreme, no matter how strong you are.
@@Megabear90 It's not about the human level, it's about your individual level. Someone that can deadlift 300kg can do many reps on 200kg and still recover in 4 days. But someone that can deadlift 205kg needs to recover for a much longer time when doing a rep/reps on 200kg. This is very old knowledge that seems to have been forgotten for some reason, deadlifts are notorious for being very taxing on your recovery time. For example, the westside guys advocate not doing heavy deadlifts any more frequently than every 14 days.
@@oggan97 it's about both actually. My recovery time is way up compared to when I've started training seriously. And it makes sense, since the rest of your body will not adapt as much as your strength does. It used to be just a little bit of everything that hadn't recovered, mostly my muscles needed rest. Now my whole system feels like its been overloaded when I don't get enough rest when going heavy. I don't use roids or anything else, but doing so would put me so far above that baseline that my recovery times would increase with my PR. I'm only at 280kgs max, but I also do many other things to keep fit. I want to get to 300kgs before I turn 40, but I'm gonna take it slow.
