- Most of you are curious how does the crew cabin looks like, so in this video I will give you a tour of my cabin on board!

I was a crew member in the '70s on the Big U (SS United States), the Indy (SS Independence), and the Connie (SS Constitution). We generally had four men to a focsile, iron bunk beds, and two tall gym lockers. No TVs. Public showers and no buffet. A slop chest that served only beer, no washing machines, and definitely no organized crew parties. Past 7 pm on most ships I sailed the menus were set... cold leftovers from above deck, beef tongue, and Puerto Rican Caviar (beans and rice). I thought I had it soft compared to my father who sailed Liberty Ships during WW2. I know it's a tough life working seven days a week but I'm amazed at how luxurious these small cabins are compared to when I sailed passenger ships as crew.. Fair winds and following seas all.

On a Trident (Ohio class) submarine, the bigger of the two classes, E-6 and below is in bunkrooms. It's about the size of an office cubicle, but fits 9 enlisted members (women too, now, since 2008, though I got out 2003, obviously the women are in separate bunkrooms).
Basically three racks forward, three racks aft, and three racks amidships. 🙂
Officers get a stateroom that's also the size of a cubicle, but they only have to share it with one or two other officers (it depends on how many officers we have aboard at the time). We will typically be underwater for about three months; the longest time I have ever spent submerged is 87 days (never come up for 87 days).🙂
I think they have the SSGN conversions at sea longer, because I saw a video of my first boat, after she was converted to SSGN (tomahawk instead of trident) getting an air drop for food. They came to the surface, a C-130 flew overhead and dropped supplies, they loaded it, then went back underwater. 🙂

The cabin design is very similar to mine on carnival freedom we also have to share the washroom with our neighbour so 4 people are using one washroom.

Yes! 😊 we do have internet all over the ship po, but it's paid if ever you will use the social media but we have free naman po for whatsapp

Yas, if you are off duty. Most of the ports you will get a chance to go out. In my first contact i visited more than 30 countries.(Europe, Africa, Antarctica, South America and Caribbean) going back in 02 months.
