- Israel is weighing up its response to Iran after it fired hundreds of missiles and drones at the country over the weekend. As world leaders call for restraint, Israel's war cabinet met without announcing any definite course of action but said it would respond at a time and in a manner of its choosing. Iran says its assault was an act of self-defense after several of its generals were killed earlier this month in an attack on its diplomatic compound in Syria.
For more on this, we talk to DW Correspondent Tania Krämer, who joins us from Jerusalem.
We also talk to Mike Martin. He is a War Studies Senior Fellow at King's College London.
And we're joined in the studio by Journalist Kristin Helberg, who is an expert on the Middle East.

I think Israel will respond but not until Trump becomes the next President because their main aim will be at the nuclear laboratories. Other than Israel nobody else is directly threatened by Iran possessing nuclear weapons. So Isreali existence rests on the success of Iran having nuclear bombs- a do or die situation for Israel. But as Iran has already exercised its option of retaliating to Israel for Damascus embassy attack the latter has the luxury of choosing its own time for responding.

A single patriot air defense missle costs about 4 million dollars. Even when Israel was successful in defending, it's incredibly expensive for them.
