    I know this is an old video so you may not be checking comments but I just wanted to say that your explanation has become my go-to reference for Japanese short rows. Thank you so much for making this video.

    This is the best video tutorial on this method that I have seen. Thank you for very clear instructions.

    You saved my project with this very clear and detailed video. Thank you very much. You are the only video I found that explained that the SSP was needed. Beginner knitter, so it wasn't intuitive for me.

      In all seriousness, I love learning new techniques and I frequently take classes from other knitters, learning is the best! ❤️

    I made my Japanese short rows flat and then the designer wants them resolved in the round. It’s okay for the ones made on the knit row because we just do as you show in the first part of the video but you can’t just k2tog for the purl short rows, so how would I resolve them so that I don’t create a hole? Thank you for your help

    @josearle6315 Před 4 lety +1

    I have just done my first W&T shaping on a sweater following your instructions which were so easy to follow. However the pattern tells me to resume knitting in the round working wraps together with wrapped stitches. I was ok with the stitches on the knit side but wasn't sure how to work the purled wrapped stitches on the knit round.

  • @susanwingblade1799
    @susanwingblade1799 Před 5 lety +1

    If a pattern calls for Japanese shorts rows, do you have to do them like that? Could you use any other short row in place of the Japanese short row? Thanks Suzanne!

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  Před 5 lety

      It is very easy to convert Japanese short rows. For example, if you want to use Wrap and Turn short rows, you would just wrap the next stitch. Or if you want to use the Yarn Over method, you would just Yarn Over. No pins. Hugs and Happy Knitting.

    Sorry I'm a new knitter, but when you get to the marker on the purl side, you say “slip as if to knit and slip as if to knit”, but it looks as if you DO a slip as if to PURL followed by a slip as if to knit. Am I seeing that wrong? And how do I use this method for Japanese short rows in the round?

  • @lauraandreescu5952
    @lauraandreescu5952 Před 2 lety +1

    Hello Suzanne. I've notice in other tutorials that the first st after turn is sliped, not work. Isn't that better, because the gap is smaller? Thank you for your work.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  Před 2 lety

      It is just personal preference. Try it both ways on a swatch and see what you think.

  • @earndoggy
    @earndoggy Před 7 lety +2

    I don't understand this. It seems like so much trouble. I can wrap and turn in literally a fraction of the time this takes and I only deal with one stitch marker at most. It confuses me to understand why this is popular.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  Před 7 lety +2

      What works well for one person, doesn't work for another. There are many ways to create short rows and all sorts of people who prefer one over the other.

    • @earndoggy
      @earndoggy Před 7 lety +1

      I agree. I'm always looking for new and easier or better ways to do things. I'm working on getting this down so that I can tell if I like it better. Thanks for the vid.

      I am a loose knitter and neither w&t nor double stitches work for me - I still end up with holes or very loose stitches. So thank you for this video.

    • @satsumamoon
      @satsumamoon Před 5 lety

      For me its the opposite. wrap and turn seems so complicated and I can never get my head round it
