Have these guys in alot of lakes here in Washington state. Painted turtles, some kind of soft shell and a few snapping turtles too.

How big of a living area do you keep the adult turtles in?

For fully grown adults, I would say a minimum of 6 ft pond space plus some land and rocks to sunbathe on all around. Even my own are now at my friend's house because they have a much bigger pond than I did.

I have two red eared turtles and they tend to bury themselves in the backyard for months then come out and I keep them in water . I’m looking for info on a possible dirt and water tank since they bury themselves but needs the water. Any suggestions?

I have not made one myself but what you want to google is called a "paludarium". There are lots of CZcams videos of folks making paludariums. Just remember to make sure they always have access to heat and UV light as well. Sounds like a great project though, good luck!

My mom let one go in the river so I don't agree with her she just does whatever she wants. Let a snake out too but it was just a corn snake. She would have let a boa out if I had one. She's a environmental dumpster fire writing about it every day...
