I've been feeling stagnate in my decluttering journey and then we went out of state this weekend to visit family we haven't seen in awhile. Seeing various people's homes makes me realize how far we've come and also how far we still want to go. I'm reinvigorated and ready to keep going!

There’s nothing like seeing clutter in someone else’s home to make you want to get stuck into your own. That or seeing a super tidy, uncluttered home. Every time I’d visit my parents’ house in another town I’d be itching to get h9ke to devoutter cause there was only so much paper my dad would let me get rid of at his house.

I feel you guys ❤ driving back from my aunt house, I was so traumatized by the quantity of all her old stuff that I’m going to cut my few belongings as soon as I arrived home 😂 can’t actually wait to start

Oooh! I wonder if a good idea would be to WRITE how many minutes that task ACTUALLY took you ON that sticky note after you're done? That way, you'll have a good idea of how much time to allot for it next time and maybe it's less than you thought!

I agree. I set my phone timer for various cleaning tasks. Many times it’s shocking how little time it actually takes. It’s fun like a game for me (unlike mundane cleaning tasks that aren’t exactly “fun”). Lol.

Fantastic idea! Part of the reason I don't do decluttering projects as often when they're big is because I think it's going to take so much time... If I see it only took me an hour and have a before and after picture it might be more motivating. So thank you for the idea!

I’m watching this video and feel so happy that yesterday afternoon I took about 20 minutes to declutter our wardrobe and kitchen cabinets. I was available to get used to about more than 30 items it it felt so good.
Thank you for the motivation you give us ❤

I love this video. Thank you so much. I have used the timer method from one of the other ladies that does the CZcams organizing. I can tell you it genuinely works for me. Because I know there will be a stoppage point & I don't get so overwhelmed with decluttering/organizing. I now use this method with doing my apartment cleaning. The paper clutter has to get out soon & I need some kind of method with what feels like a million & one pictures & albums full of pictures which some have been inherited after my parents passed away 20 yrs ago. That's a whole project within a project which I really don't have time for. I've downsized apartments over a year ago & no longer have extra closets, storage space & an extra bedroom. I am only semi-retired & back to work so I don't have a lot of personal time to dedicate to pictures at this time. I do a lot of donations, throwaways, giveaways & my new apartment bldg has a weekend free swapping of items. 🙂

I love a super clean and organized home. I am 69 years old and every 7 weeks I take everything out of my garage and wash the epoxy floor. I have decluttered a lot of items that I no longer want or need. I have put together many yard sales and have made over 55,000. Yes, that much. I now think twice before I bring something in my home. I actually went to two stores today and came home with nothing, Tomorrow is my day to clean out the refrigerator. I don't understand why families cannot keep their homes clean and organized. I was busy in my career as a nurse working full time and taking care of a 5000 square foot home. I had two children at that time. All I see is that everyone is always playing games on their phones, so nothing gets done.

Because many people have autoimmune disorder, anxiety and depression or other chronic illnesses that, to be fair, weren’t as common when you were younger.

Yes, what you had mentioned has been around many years and in the 90's for sure! You don't know my past medical history, but I can tell you I had two major ones that I still cleaned my home. People can choose if they want or will not clean their homes. Most are lazy. Even heathy people choose to hire a cleaning service because they simply don't like cleaning, or they have a higher paying job that they don't have the time.@@razorbladelemonade

I am also a nurse but I had to stop working because of health. I have very little energy and my disorders produce a lot of fatigue. I wish you could come and organize me. I grew up in a hoarder home and I have learned that I shop a lot to make up for the fact that I never had my own new things like clothes when I was growing up. Now my downstairs has a bunch of items I’m trying to get photographed and ready to sell online. My office at work was always organized. My home isn’t. My goal is to be able to foster dogs again, when my health hopefully improves.

Just today i took a throw blanket to my sister's home for her son, who doesn’t walk and has had some health struggles lately. About 16 years ago when her husband was suffering from cancer, I loaned it to him because he was so cold all of the time. I wasn't ready to give it away for good, but i was happy to loan it. It's flannel and was his very favorite blanket. So I looked at it yesterday and was ready to let it go, and it's still in great shape. She and her son were very happy to hear the story and they love the blanket. I love feeling like I can declutter in layers.

I agree that sentimental items are the hardest to let go of. I wouldn’t ever part with a book from high school. I think all that is left of my clutter is the sentimental stuff. I’m afraid to start working on it. :(

I kind of do that with my to-do lists. I'll write out to the side how long I think each task will take so I know which one to tackle depending on how much time I have in the day.

So, can't get rid of all those dishes. Just like my clothes, I have a "seasonal" dishware. We don't entertain people except on Thanksgiving and sometimes Christmas. I put extra dishes, baking and other containers in the attic- labeled "Thanksgiving". That way I feel always prepared! Love your tips!!!! ❤

I'm concerned about you throwing out the memory book from your prom. These items (and yearbooks) are time capsules for that day and year. My advice, if you're short on space, is to lay the item on a flatbed scanner and scan all the pages and cover and save each page as a PDF. Then, you can merge all those pages into a single document. I did this for a high school alumni website and I have 94 yearbooks that take just shy of 3 GB of space. I'm sure you can afford that. YOU WILL REGRET NOT DOING THIS STEP LATER.

Some people have less of an emotional attachment to things like that, I can throw anything away but not pictures. They're a big part of my life and I love looking back at the memories. But digitizing is a great idea though!

I have thrown out many “sentimental” items. I don’t regret it. It’s just an item, the memory is in my brain. It doesn’t mean enough to me to hold onto it to show someone else.
