"The Hangover Part III" is the third and final film in director Todd Phillips' record-shattering comedy franchise. This time, there's no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off. (c) WB

This is one of my favorite "What the Flick" reviews. Ben and Alonso's reactions to Christy's comments are hilarious.
And I love how respectful of one another they all are.
hangover 3...6.7! dark night rises...5!...WTF i might as well be a critic
For some reason, I don't enjoy any of these movies. They should have never made sequels.
It's probably because it romanticises jock douchebaggery, while leaving Nagging Obstacle Who Must be Overcome, and Stripper as the only roles for women. This one seems to be a case of even the filmmakers confessing they've grown tired of it.
@@PurushaDesa Romanticieses? Really?
Being an idiot , drugging yourself and causing mass destruction and possible murder (with repercussions) is romantic!?? Or awesome???
And please don't insult Jade ( a.k.a. Stripper) she is like the most caring and strong female character I've seen. And trust me, is hard to find a female character with both of these qualities.
Nagging Womans can exist.
Everyone is dumb.
1 and 2 were great part 3 really sucked badly....
I laughed at the end of this review more than at the entire movie.
i don't think the end credits was setting up a 4th one because they've marketed this one as the finale to the whole series. I think the mid-credits scene was just a nice nod to the series and makes a joke about how the characters will always be in that type of situation, even after all they've been through because of it.
I agree with the guys, the movie was flat out awful
They HAD to fuck with it, they couldn't have left the first movie alone.
I agree with Christy, at least to a point. I think the movie benefits from having a darker, more unrelenting tone. Todd Phillips consistently shows himself to be a terrific director. Christy don't lie, there's some great shots in this movie for it being a "dark comedy" or whatever it may be. I think the script definitely falters in parts, but not for being unfunny. I think it could've actually gone darker (and should have) instead of still treating these characters as if we like them.
part 3 reminded me that it should have been just one film
This Lars Van Trier version of the Hangover that Christy is describing sounds intriguing.
A general rule to follow is that movies that have numbers in them, such as 2 or 3 or 4 or however far you want to go with the franchise tend to be about half as good as the last movie, especially if the same joke or action scene or dramatic scene or horror scene is almost if not exactly the same as the last movie. This is why I quit seeing movies in the theater because it seemed that two-thirds of films shown were all lousy films with the same title and a number after it.
well by now its at 19% on rotten tomatoes xD
To a professional reviewer demographics don't matter, Ben & Alonso stated the response of the other movie goers as muted if not angry.
People want to see an R rated comedy, you cannot switch tone for the 3rd film it has to keep inline with 1 & 2
I actually agreed with Christy here, which is weird because I usually disagree w/ everyone, but I liked the fact that it was different and had darker elements to it. It could have been funnier but I'm just glad it was miles ahead of part ii.
unless that's where it was before because now it's like 21%. earlier this morning I saw 22 % and now is 21%.
I love the fact that Christy is sticking with her opinion. This was a very good watch!
It's always interesting to see different opinions about films.
Did these critics didn't sit after the credits? They made this one a departure from the other Hangovers because it's a big setup for the 4th one. The end credit scene is wirth the whole movie.
Alonso and Ben's screening sounded exactly like midnight for Iron Man 3....
"The first one was so wonderful and so novel and so fresh!"
What?!? It wasn't bad but have you ever heard of "Dude Where's My Car?"?!? The Hangover had a Tiger & Mike Tyson, DWMC had a stoner Yoda, breakdancing strippers, space super-sluts and a universe-threatening device. It's like Saints Row 3/4 vs GTA IV. One was wacky, off-the-wall bonkers, and fun, and the other was so grounded that only glimmers of fun were found. DWMC came out 1st, yet everyone fawned over The Hangover. WTF?!?
Differing opinions make the best reviews. Took me back to the Siskel / Ebert disagreements I enjoyed so much.
Oh God, Christy did NOT hate the TDKR
She gave it a 5 meaning she didn't "love it" but still "recommends" it to a selective audience.
If she had hated it, she would have given it a 1 which she has done to other films.
For the first time, in I don't know how long, I agree with Christie. Alonso and Ben are wrong about Hangover III, I loved that they tried something different from the first two movies. And it was funny, the movie was good. I also hated Hangover II, and really liked the third one.
Totally agree with Christy--great movie. Love how it fucks with its target audience. And it WAS well shot. That scene near the beginning where the dad dies, really incredible.
Hold up. People pay $30 for a movie in the US?
This series is proof that people hate on a sequel when it’s a beat for beat remake and they also hate on a sequel if it’s completely different.
I don't know why they do that. It's very deceptive. If they are going to use 1 through 10 rating and then compare it to RT.com, then they need to give out the mean score rather than approval rating.
Okay.. who is paying off Christy Lemire??
Christy's argument, different is better...Iron Man 3 was very different than one and two because of Shane Black, does that make it better?
All I can say is that it delivered as a thriller and it was a nice change in pace. However, I felt that the focus was too much on Chow and Alan, and Alan became more unlikable than ever. He already became sort of unlikable in the second film, but this one, I never thought he would go along with Chow's antics. I really didn't think too much of it, but I didn't hate it either. I gave it about 5.
I didn't see this movie and I'm probably not gonna - but kudos to Christy for stickin' to her guns!!
I have to say, that was one of the funnest movie reviews yet from WTF. I give it an 8.6.
My guess is that she has a friend who worked on that film. Would explain alot
Hated 2. Passing on 3 even though it's got Melissa McCarthy, who I adore.
Just watched this film and all I can say is that it was a hell of a lot better, story wise than The Hangover II. I hated The Hangover II because it was the exact story as The Hangover. I'd give this one a 6. Good, not great but not terrible.
They explained everything in the video. Do you have problem listening?
Oh Christy...
That is just too insane of a price. I have a card that i pay £17 ($25.71) a month and lets me see whatever movie i want anytime i want and how many times i want. But other picture houses prices vary from £8 ($12) to £12 (£18) But the popcorn/hotdogs are like extra £10 :/
I love the guy from National Treasure I wish he was in these movies more!
It's no a comedy it's an action film. Totally agree with christy.
I was not a fan at all of the first two Hangovers. That being said I saw this one and I have to agree with Christy. I enjoyed this one because of the points that Christy pointed out. I do have to say that this was one of the funniest shows you all have done in a long time. Great Job....
I almost choked when Christy said....."I'm ok with my position on this, in really comfortable with it". LOL! Its like she was trying to convince herself.
it's the same movie..... same formula, asian man, awildlife, random celebrity and absurd things happen where have I seen this before..parts 1&2
how could they disagree so much? i want to see it now
Sure, but that said, I don't think Phillips (and maybe it's purely of his own volition) has had much of an opportunity to spread his wings much outside of making comedies, and so I partly judge him on the amount of potential I see for him to make something way more spectacular than any of these movies, which he's clearly squandering his abilities as a filmmaker with less than worthy scripts. And given that he co-wrote this, I'll say it probably means he shouldn't focus his talents into writing.
hard to get the facts when you turn the blinders on to anything of a differing opinion.
just because you disagree doesnt mean its a bad criticism
same. part 2 was just stuffed up, and that is why i loved it.
Alanso is dead wrong about the 1st movie. If they did it step by step what would have been the point of the End Credits with the flo Rida Song?
I get that this film is trying to be darker and different, but I'm looking to laugh when I see a Hangover movie.
The first time I saw this trailer at the movies I had no idea why anyone was laughing.
Sure, because I like to get under people's skin when they imply that Nolan's Batman films are the greatest thing around. I honestly don't care what you think of Christy or of her film critique, but there's not enough people willing to go against this intensely ingrained sense of esteem for Nolan, who's a needlessly elaborate writer and sloppy director in his recent work. Plus, I like that Christy can stick by her guns and argue knowing she has an unpopular POV, because she's true to herself.
When you get older, depending on the types of movies you watch, you may or may not begin to realize that Hollywood movies are incredibly tiresome and fail to get swept up in the latest pop culture every summer. You may begin to appreciate the movies that take risks far more than the ones that just play to mass appeal. As for liking Twilight, I too can't defend that, but at least she's not the only critic to say it.
I don't know if my sense of humour is just stupid and twisted or if something's wrong with people, but I don't understand all the criticism this movie is getting.
Usually I come down on the side of those who stand against many with their opinion when liking a movie that nobody else likes (hell I loved R.I.P.D.). But the Hangover III had nothing... it was no comedy. it didn't have enough thrills to e a thriller, not enough action to be an action movie. I am glad they tried to make something new and get away from a given formula. But in this case they really failed. This might have made a good indy film with a bit more action and played a little darker. (although for a comedy it was pretty dark). So I really don't know what this movie was about.
I went to see the screener for this movie, and while everyone around me was exaggerating their laugh, I was crossed arm and waiting for it to be over. I've seen gifs funnier than this movie. This review is funnier than the movie. I'd rather watch the Hangover 2 than this movie. I, too, was incredibly pissed off afterwards.
Christie's lost me ever since she had "so much fun" seeing Prometheus.
stop hating on Christy, guys. Let's not forget that Alonso stuck up for Movie 43...
Remember when Alonso gave a favorable review for Movie 43 when him and one other critic liked it on RT? lol. I'm with Christy, I liked the dark turn they made and it was interesting to see how Alan's psyche is affected by Mr. Chow's antics. 3.5/5. I liked it, not ashamed of it.
Christy ladies and gentlemen. Hated the dark knight rises, makes the hangover 3 sound like the artistic equivalent of au hasard balthazar
I agree with Christy. It isnt too bad
Great show. Love Christy and how Alonso looks at her like she has gone off her meds as she valiantly tries to defend her opinion.
I liked part two and I loved part one, I think I'll get something out of part three
i did not like the dark night rises it goes against a certain sensibility... i like the 3nd one tho
I liked the first Hangover movie and I think they made a mistake by turning this into a franchise. I saw the second Hangover movie once when I rented it on Netflix, and didn't bother to watch it when it came on cable. I know for sure am not going to watch Hangover 3. I believe Alonso and Ben's review on the movie, it's really bad and you can tell by looking at the preview for the movie.
They should of made it where Alan and chow got super wasted and then let it go from their.
Alonso and ben are looking at christy like she has 6 heads it's awesome
There was no mention of the movie in my comment.
So The Hangover Part 3 is better then TDKR and Star Tek Into Darkness???? Anyone else thinks that???
I didn't think it was that bad but it wasn't as good as the first one
Actually the guys tht wrote the first one did not write the second the second was written by Todd Phillips scot Armstrong and Craig Mazin. The third is written by Todd and Craig just u know.
Christy gave 3.2 to The Great Gatsby and 6.7 to The Hangover part III. WTF??
The Hangover 3 was the best of all the film's. It had laughs and was not about marriage and that boring craps. The only serious part about the movie was the killing but non of the guys were ever really thought to be in real danger, even though the head of security was shot to make a point. And again they wake u
p hungover.
But yes, I didn't expect everyone to like this at all :P
By the end, Christy was just trolling them.
I have a feeling they didn't watch the same movie I did....it was quite funny.
Part 1 was the best, that's obvious. Part 2 was at least chuckle inducing. Part 3 was just dumb and stupid and lazy
Did Christy Lemire watch the same movie I did?!
after 2, im glad hangover did something different, and it didn't need to be funny, go to the first one for that
I respect her for going against the stream but i saw it so i am a stream guy.
No one cares what I think but I think it is a CRIME that it's rated so poorly. Miles ahead of the terrible second movie, I agree with Christy its daring and I don't know why everyone says there's no comedy, it's hilarious and much funnier than Part 2. It's can't touch the gold the first film was, but it was the perfect way to end the trilogy
Where is Ben Lyons Ben? Get his perspective. I loved your reviews. Brutally honest when you guts were on network t.v
Loved the 1st movie didn't like the 2nd that much but this one was way better than the 2nd but still not as good as the 1st
Relax guys, it's just HER opinion. Christy's view on the film is in the small minority.
Are you implying that Star Trek Into Darkness and The Dark Knight Rises are well-done movies? Into Darkness is 3 stars at best and TDKR is 2 stars and that's being generous.
I liked the first, I "meh" the second, and I was entertained with the third. BTW In the many times I have seen it in the cinema (which was full) all people laughed. Especially in the last scene.
It's at 21% on rotten tomatoes now :)
"This is just SHIT!" -Alonso Duralde. this quote should be on the DVD!! Christy, I love how you are a strong woman with her own opinions but, really? :))
What are you talking about? are they leaving?
damn there was a scene after the credits
what happens?
Can someone explain to me why they always compare their ratings to the tomato meter as if they were the same? Seriously. Tomato meter is % of people that liked or disliked the movie, not a raw score /10. They do have a raw score /10 but its not the "tomato meter". It would be better to just note the meter as its interesting but don't keep saying crap like "so our scores are a little lower" when its not even the same thing...
Watching her try to justify her opinion of it was funnier than the movie itself.
Damn watching it tonight. Hope im not too disappointing.
Spoilers much? I didn't want to know that somebody dies!
Everyone in my theater was laughing, I don't know what you guys are talking about
Chrissy just wanted to be different, she know this movie was stupid!!!! I agree with the other 2 guys.
Man, Christy is putting way too much thought into this movie. I think Todd Phillips just wanted to make a comedy, not look into the characters' souls.
I actually really like this movie. I thought it was hilarious.
hell, the first opinion given was "i like it"
Don't give me that. I have gathered enough from reviews, discussion and the trailer to understand what this film is like, and to justly be weirded out by Christie's desperate positive review of it. And it is actually irrelevant to me whether they suffocate the dogs, or kill them in some other ways for cheep laughs. Oh, they suffocate a chicken, not a dog? That sounds much funnier.
"It's at 41% on RT, there are other people besides me who like this movie. I am comfortable with my position on this film." -- Christy
Too bad (or "little did she know") that it's at 18% overall *and* on Top Critics as of right now on RT. Sorry, Christy, but you are honestly one of the *only* people on this planet who thinks this way...yes, you are. And it's crazy and ludicrous. Please stop reviewing movies. Thanks.
