I like rainy days in a tent as long as the tent doesn't leak and I don't get wet. The sound of rain striking the tent makes me so very relaxed and wanting to sleep. Great video.

      Personally ,,,
I would have eliminated or not have brought Blood pudding or blood sausage ,what ever you want to call it !
I tried that stuff way back in my drinking days when I was hungover one morning and a buddy was frying up some blood sausage ;-((
The smill of it cooking was enough to make ya vomit, truly, a very disgusting menu item. it almost made my stomach do back flips, straight away.
I have to say, it was the most disgusting crap I've ever tried eating.
It just made my hangover worse tbh......
So when I saw buddy frying that up, it gave me an instant flashback of that day,
way back in the mid to late 1980's
If we could only turn the clock back to certain years . I loved the 70's and 80's, it was the best years of my life as a kid growing up in Northern Ontario Canada.

On your truck, you might consider the use of a tool bed, which has outwardly opening storage compartments on each side, as a ready made 'chuck box, water jugs, tool storage and many other capable areas of usefulness. Each door locks separately and the tops would serve as a fine base for your tent topper. They can be had in Fibreglas, perhaps in aluminium also so as to avoid the weight penalty of steel. You can see examples at pretty much any construction or electrical worksite.

Gday Andy, thanks for another awesome video.
Here in Australia we do a lot of this type of camping, so I thought I would list a few more items that might make your camping experiences a bit more pleasurable. 1.an AGM auxiliary battery 2. 12v/240v Waeco fridge freezer 3. a string of LED lights 4. a piece of shade cloth the same size as your awning to put on the ground especially good in sandy environments 5. a fold up table but if you are thinking about a chuck box you can incorporate a table into that, check out a website called Drifter that might help you with a design and or give you some ideas, Drifter also have a YT channel 6. a piece of plastic to cover your mattress to stop it from getting wet when you have to fold up your tent when its wet.
With the battery box I have the relay installed inside the box with a Anderson plug that connects to a lead that runs to the start up battery for charging while traveling, once you arrive at your destination you can place the battery box anywhere that's handy for you. The box also has charging terminals built in for when you need to charge from a battery charger as well as lighter sockets and a battery life gauge.
I'm sure with a little research you'll figure out what works best for you, I've already been down this track so I thought I would share.
    Happy travels mate 👍🏻🍻🇦🇺

Car camping is as diverse as backpacking or any other type of camping. The "tent on top of SUV" sub- sub-genre is an evolution of sleeping on top of your camper van, school bus, or camper shell during the seventies. It seems a natural for use in places where it rains all the time.

    Thanks for the video, Andy.
A suggestion: get a small spirit level from the pound shop and keep it in the car. Put it on the dashboard or centre console when you park, to see if it's pitched level. That's what I used to do with the campervan. Set the levelling ramps against whichever wheels needed them, then drive up onto them whilst watching the spirit level.......

I sometimes camp just next to my truck out in the Oregon woods, rather than backpack or take the camper trailer. I get a feeling like I imagine folks used to get about their horses, of comfort knowing it's there with all my stuff that I could possibly need. Very calming. It's a nice way to go.
