My grandfather harry woodall one of greenocks oldschool doo men, unfortunately stopped flying around 10 years ago due to old age and his health, lost my wee granny Betty Woodall last year and often come to watch this as it reminds me of simpler, happier times. The last of a golden generation.

rest in peace harry and betty woodall last of a golden generation, remember when this video was being recorded by a "yank" in my granny’s back green as a boy, fond memories of watching my grandfather fly pigeons and going with him to the pigeon club up Glasgow east end and raffling off birds, never forget telling my granny I wanted to fly doos as a boy and her telling me I’ll waste my life in a hut talking to pigeons 🤣 memories that will last a lifetime, never forget them always in my heart 💚 till we meet again 😇

I've been a doo man since the age of 10 years old with the older one as there was a easy 4 or 5 different kind of dookits from the best way is flying out of a nice size of hut at the perfect pitch for your hut in your back garden then windows boxes as well as boxes out of the roof set up niddrie was just the edinburgh just like the Glasgow council estate it's was a way of life coming from a council estate in Niddrie greatest doo flying every single day there was someone who was tackling with someone always money on the hen's and doo's legs great memories of the good old days of real doo flying it's a great way to keep the youngsters off the street but they don't want to do the pigeon when they get to the age of 13th and upwards it's a great way to be sitting outside with a few of your family and friends they day's are long gone useless the next generation of youngsters take up the amazing hobbie flying the pigeon no matter what the weather is like come rain sunshine snow I'm alway outside at the dookit with my birds last days of flying in pairs then they're split from each other for the best 3 days of flying the birds on there own to show the rest of the doo men that's I've always got something out flying if it's not seen anything all take it in and put another bird out for a good shift
