    You know, I refused to play games on my phone or tablet because of how they'll rob you blind through micro transactions. But now they've figured out how to rob us blind on our consoles and PC's as well. I blame this on mobile gaming. They saw how they could grab more money from us through mobile gaming and I can just see them all putting their heads together at a meeting..."How can we make them pay more for all games?".
    We're goddamned sheeple, I tell you. Let's just all bend over.
    I refuse to pay more for a game that I've already bought. I flat out refuse! It's against everything I believe in and is in keeping with everything that pisses me off about today's consumer world that just keeps ripping us off at every turn. I don't mind paying top dollar for a great game but they can kiss my ass by trying to give me a nice golden shotgun if I preorder, or by giving me better outfits and/or gear if I pay them more money afterward.
    Screw them, I should get all of that because I gave them 80 efn bucks already!

    • @jeremycabahug5375
      @jeremycabahug5375 Před 6 lety +8

      I agree with what you said. Back then bonus levels in games or extra hidden characters were unlockables that were given by grinding for it or being good at the game. Now, you have to pay up for a character or for levels because they can make money off it. This is especially true to fighting games that lock characters and you can't get the character by grinding, so you have to pay for it.

    • @217gatnnos
      @217gatnnos Před 6 lety +2

      That's why I don't like mobile games. BUT there are some game where you just pay a price for the full game. After that no ads no micro transactions and they are quite cheap most if the time. I only find them really hard to find. All the games look the same (at least the icon) and you can't really see what is a micro transaction game and what is a good game. But through this channel I found games like mini metro on mobile. So there are some good games but unfortunately well hidden.

    Fanboys are one of the main reasons I hate the gaming community. They just make this community seem immature, toxic, and brain dead. Which often makes me kind of hide the fact I'm a gamer to fellow peers. These people seriously are hurting gaming because they just let everything slide no matter how harmful it is in the long run. The micros and general lack of quality and innovation need to stop. That's just naming a few of the many issues right now going on it gaming. But with these fools it's never going to stop it will just continue to get worse. Grow a brain people and start punishing these undeserving Devs by closing your wallets.

    • @lwaves
      @lwaves Před 6 lety +3

      It's not just gaming, the system fanboys are some of the worst, whether it's for PC, Xbox or Playstation. They come out with the dumbest shit you've ever read. I'm not picking on them but the current highlight is always from PS fanboys with the stupidest comment ever of "Xbox has no games." Really? Do they possess any brain cells? The PC and Xbox fanboys have done similar things too, but that's just a comment I see a lot.

    • @lwaves
      @lwaves Před 6 lety +1

      +ultraboy223 Yes, the Xbox does lack exclusives and even though I think exclusives feed into fanboyism and often cause it, it is also something that is definitely holding the Xbox back this generation. But these fanboys rarely mention the term 'exclusive' until they are called out. They say "no games" and that's what makes their comment so stupid. Look at the big games, the ones that truly do well, they are mostly multi-plats.
      I'm not taking sides either, I firmly believe that you should get whichever one suits you best and as long as you're happy, then great. If you don't have a PC and want Forza, get an Xbox, if you like some of the PS exclusives then get a PS. If you don't care, then get what your friends have.
      If I wanted to buy a console this gen it wouldn't be a PS because I've never liked their controllers and I don't care for most of their exclusives. Too many hack/slash button mashers and blingy Japanese titles. The only truly good one I'd want is The Last Of Us and maybe Spider-Man if it doesn't turn into the QTE fest I think it will. Even putting that aside, I think they are both underpowered for where they should be but also aim too high by going for 4K. They barely got 1080p last gen, now they think they can get 4K? They aren't worth it. If I was getting one I'd probably get a Switch but I have no use for one right now.

      of of the good thing about PCs is instead of paying to skip the grind, you can cheat to use the grind

    • @lwaves
      @lwaves Před 6 lety +2

      The thing is, if you don't have enough time to play the game (through work or whatever) then don't play the game. It's that simple and it's how it works with everything else. Find a shorter game and save the other until you do have the time. For example, if you have enough time to watch a 1hr 30min movie, you don't put on a 3hr epic., you watch a 1hr 30min movie. Same should apply to gaming if you have a small amount of common sense.

    • @nikolayivanov9539
      @nikolayivanov9539 Před 6 lety

      i can have 10 hours to spare to watch a movie, the problem is that 9 hours of that movie is unintersting pile of crap which you cant wait to just get it over with. thats the whole point of micro transcations, and thats why they are being bought. if games werent boring grind (and consumers werent morons), no one would buy them. in my case i can either use cheats (instead of paying real money) or just delete the game.

    • @lwaves
      @lwaves Před 6 lety +1

      +Nikolay Ivanov If it's that boring then you stop playing. Same goes for a movie. As you say though, these morons will keep playing and then pay to get through it faster or skip it. That's not playing the game. Why they do it is another thing, it's like they can't make the decision themselves and think paying more money is the answer. Games didn't use to be boring grinds (whether they were good or bad games is another thing) but the devs have deliberately made them that way to sell mtx's. They found a way in through mobile f2p gaming and now it's infected everything.
      It reminds me of people who moan about how bad TV shows have got and how they 'hate' it but they keep watching week after week, season after season. I completely get loyalty to a show but if it gets to the hate or complete boredom stage then it's time to stop. It's almost like they want to torture themselves and will pay to do it.

      Worth A Buy So the original Bioshock is worth a buy for PC? I've been considering buying it for a while now. I know next to nothing about the game, but from what I can tell, it looks like a good, classic and challenging linear FPS experience. Much like Half Life 2, or Fear.

      By the time star citizen is released we will all be living 14 hours a day in full haptic vr and star citizen will be seen as this quaint retro toy rediscovered by the great great great great grandkid of this obscure game maker named chris roberts. The kid will have found the old build 600.02 of the game which was only 10% done in 2089, and for an elementary school project using modern 24th century tech is able to create an AI simulation of a dev team that finishes the full game in two days at max ai acceleration.
      The kid will give it away as freeware to a rom site that is only used by snobby eccentric old people who are dorks about the nostalgia of the 21st century like we see the american revolution today.
      They will try the game on their vr simulated desktop, much like playing a minimgame in fallout 4, play for a few minutes, find it quaint, and uninstall it to go back to playing minecraft...

      @DHTHORNE Před 6 lety +8

      Nothing you Said Anders Lolle disproves what Swan and I said.
      Just because there are a lot of players who hate the grind and complain about it, doesn't mean there isn't an ARMY of Fanboys who quite literally ATTACK anyone who criticizes these things. I get it and agree, there are a LOT of people who don't like the game, or criticize it and still play it and aren't fanboys etc. but that isn't the point, the point is the Fanboys in ED are some of the most fanatical insane fanboys I've ever seen.
      I swear to Macks best bell that if you go into the Facebook groups for Elite, you will find a den of Fanboyism that is absolutely WRETCHED.
      I totally accept and understand that people who like the game, don't want to deal with whiners etc.
      But there is a big difference between people discussing ways to improve the game, VS people whining.
      Fanboys can't see the difference.

    I've been saying this for years. Any bug report for some games gets you hostility, attacked by fans AND moderators alike. Hired 'community managers' are the worst example. I interviewed a company called Squad, the guys who made Kerbal Space Program. I noticed they bought and used a HEAP of code from the modding community and asked whether they hired the modders in question or just licensed the content. They laughed and said if they want money they can sue us, good luck, we're in Mexico. So I published the entire interview, including that quote. Next day I was banned everywhere Squad could ban me, even on Steam. I made an account to ask "Is this a mistake? What's going on?" instantly banned again. So I published a follow up to the story. Next thing they tweeted (whilst I was on a plane over the atlantic) that I had 'hacked' their servers and anyone impacted should tell me how angry they are, and included a link to my twitter and my name, etc. Shocking behaviour. And one of the reasons I stopped moonlighting as a 'pro gamer' and reviewer of content, after being a beta tester since the 80's for SEGA I was done. (Screen shots are on my Twitter, yet Squad fans even confronted with this still blindly love them.)

Not to mention there’s a ton of exploits used by shit players, essentially making it so that they can compete with better skilled ones. When I was a diamond a couple months ago, I went 19-3 in a match and still lost the game because my team was trash. Absolutely disgraceful as a person whose played the game since it came out. Well the stash size actually doesn't matter just so you know in terms of "winning". It's the Safe Box that lets you keep your gear after dying that matters and gives you a definitive advantage. I played standard till I finished every quest and was very high level and I never needed a bigger stash.
    HOWEVER, if you want to horde gear, then the standard stash won't cut it. I just liquidated my gear into money, which is just as efficient for "winning", but some people enjoy have huge stashes of guns, which I totally understand.
    So I would focus on those stupid Safe Boxes which totally defeat the theme of the game (death has big consequences). Focusing on the stash makes it clear you don't quite understand the game, so that's why I'm just letting you know.

Over the last 25 years I’ve enjoyed all kinds of games and experiences and although I’ve spent thousands of pounds on my hobby I don’t smoke, drink or gamble so I have had expendable income to fund it.
    The recent loot crate/pay to win implementation is not surprising but disappointing. Investors who don’t game don’t care about gaming. They have a short sighted view focusing solely on turning a quick profit. As you say, if gamers support these practises it will continue to become integral to game design.

    Extract from a Reddit post:
    "F2P revenue is generally made up of a tiny number of heavy spenders (whales), a small number of medium spenders (dolphins), and a large number of light spenders (minnows). For many F2P games, revenue from those few whales makes up the majority of revenue for a game." -> these are the people ruining the community; them, and shady developers/publishers who take advantage.

At my level, 33, it is almost impossible to keep a lot of my good items. I currently was lucky enough to get and item case from a friend so i can hold a bit more, but it still isn’t enough. If they fix this issue and the netcode problems, this game would be 1,000x better. But at its current state, i still do enjoy the intense gunplay because there is nothing else like it on the market.

    There are many different types of gamers. First, the casino gamer. Casino gamers are those who will never play a traditional console, PC, nor cellphone game but will spend many hours playing casino games. Most of our AAA CEO's and their shareholders fit in this category and so naturally they would like to turn all of our AAA titles into something similar. The stock market is a casino lol.
    Second, the fanboy gamer. The vast majority of fanboys are kids. Kids, lack experience and therefore lack the necessary critical thinking skills to know any better.
    Third, causal gamers. Causal gamers are those who will rarely if ever play a console or PC game but will play cellphone games on occasion in short burst. They are the ones who will buy the COD's, NBA2K's, etc. during the Christmas hype but is usually clueless when it comes to anything controversial going on in the industry.
    Lastly, the traditional gamer. Traditional gamers are those who can still remember why we started playing video games in the first place. It was about the challenging game play. Story came second. It was about taking the time to become skilled at something. That gratification one would get once they was able to overcome and achieve something few others could. Like that special skin or achievement, that special ending, that special weapon, etc.. But for years now AAA publishers have been all about making games easier and easier giving gamers the option to pay up front to get all the best stuff instantly and therefore any real sense of accomplishment has been taken away despite what EA has been talking about.

    Fanboys don’t acknowledge that reviews are all about opinions. I love Destiny 2, a game you thumbed down, and that’s fine. I understand there are microtransactions and I don’t think they are good for the game, but I like the game. I don’t think your reviews are unfair at all, you thumb down games that I love and that’s okay. I don’t feel obliged to defend a game I like, even if I would see your criticisms as something I disagree with.
    At the end of the day, you value games based off what you want in a game. People may disagree with your verdict and see the game completely differently, but they need to understand that’s okay. You don’t have to take a reviewers words (THE WORDS THE WORDS LETS READ) as gospel. It’s just your opinion.

      @CapMurd Před 6 lety +1

      Well, it is definitely all just opinions since gamers themselves haven't agreed on certain things such as what pay to win actually stands for, so if you call your definition "facts" and someone else's supposed definition just an "opinion" then you are just being ignorant about other people's frame of reference and essentially your whole argument is rather pointless and one sided waste of breath. Like I support Mack's definition of pay to win, which is extreme but in my opinion fair, however some do not. Hence why Mack's reference to Escape from Tarkov gets so much backlash since some don't consider it pay to win at all. It just isn't part of their frame of reference. So really when it comes down to it, everyone's frame of reference is simply an opinion and not at all about facts.

    You make Tarkov players sound like junkies, their stash is the most important part of the game.
    Its also not just a game fanboys support, I know a Bethesda fanboy, Bethesda can do no wrong, their buggy broken games they spew out with ugly character creation, why the hell can't Bethesda make a half decent avatar face, hair...but Bethesda fanboys exist and they will try to justify anything wrong in a Bethesda game.
    Similarly there are console fanboys, Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo can do no wrong, they will tell you how a console is better than a PC which is a joke. You play a console or a PC because of personal preference or financial or whatever else gives reason to your choice but to say a console is more powerful than a PC is ludicrous, or that they prefer simple, no fuss consoles that are controlled by the parent company over the choice given to a PC because those choices are 1) Too complicated or 2) Take too much time that it eats into their real life. The fanboyism of Console players who misrepresent a PC's set up time for new games or the super complex nature of gaming on a PC in general over the simple no nonsense plug and play and pay Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo to use their net service when you've already paid your telecommunications supplier for the connection is for them, far simpler, more convenient and thus better than a PC....that is the ultimate fanboyism for my mind.

      Perhaps you don't understand why there is a '1%'? Jordan Peterson explains this very clearly and it's quite fascinating the phenomenon. Successful people work hard - harder than you, clearly. Successful people then attract more success and this snowballs - creating a perceived inequality.
      As an anology, play the board game Monopoly. Everyone starts equal, then as the game goes on, some players start getting more property and chances increase they'll get more money and property, especially as players start to become bankrupt - ultimately, it leads to one person owning everything - much like the 1%.
      It sucks, sure. But also, everyone has an opportunity to better themselves and aim for success -- you just have to work hard for it.

    I agree. Fanboys are killing gaming. I once posted a criticism of a game on Steam and instantly had twenty people calling me names, digging into my Steam account to tell me I had shit taste, and so on. The developer even jumped in. It was ridiculous.
    I'm fine with paying for extra content if it's giving me a significant amount of extra game play (such as an expansion). I'm even fine with games that want to nickel and dime players for cosmetic items (since I'll never give a single cent just so my character can have a golden gun or a fool hat), but this shit with preorders and loot crates and season passes and deluxe editions is just bullshit.
    And the people that defend it and support it are bullshit as well. What they don't seem to realize is that the more they're willing to pay for pieces of a game, the more developers are going to keep selling games in pieces. Goddamn, it's gotten to the point where developers are trying to charge for an extra save slot!
    These days, I refuse to buy most any AAA game unless it hits a sale price under $25. And even then, I usually wait until it's well under $20. Or else, I'll wait for the "Game of the Year" edition (whatever the fuck that means) which includes everything it should have at release.

I think there is some measure of rose tinted glasses going on. There were a lot of crap games too; back in the day. The AAA publishers have sure got greedier but then again they are owned by shareholders so their outlook is indistinguishable from that of McDonalds or BP, i.e. big corporate entities. As an example of good games out recently (not published by big AAA publishers), look no further than Pillars of Eternity 2 and Divinity Original Sin 2, what about Kingdom Come? Many other industries have gone through this stage and we have seen similar effects. Unfortunately as long as the consumer is dumb enough it is hopeless trying to save the industry. Theres no point complaining anymore let the captalist system play out and let people find out the end game of what they have done now. Great video as always bud.

    you talk about world of tanks premium ammo, you didn't even master the game or even got good at it..if you did you would know premium ammo means shit if you are bad at game..its not godlike ammo where you aim and shoot and kill everything...there is term for players like you in game..they are called red tomatoes

    While I was pretty excited about the game, at the same time I kind of secretly hoped it would fail just to spite the CDPR fanboys. Looks like I got my wish. Hopefully these fanboys will soon realize that their precious CDPR isn't the "perfect" studio they thought they were.

      Honestly its like a really dumb cult but rather than being part of something great they just deffend a scummy companie that owes them nothing and would just as easly take more money off them for dlc without fixing it.

    Unfortunately you are right in what you are saying, I remember when playing games was fun, but it's now more about who is better and who is the best etc etc. Competitive games are really pushing this pay to win agenda, and publishers are taking advantage of the if i`m winning = i'm having fun mentality. I`m really sad to see the gaming industry changing and I don't see how it is going to get any better.

    When I first got this game there were no servers in Australia and New Zealand. They introduced them but got a really poor service and the game was unplayable. Anyone that complained got a temp ban. I got a 3 month ban from the forums because I made a post showing my temp ban for asking the devs a "controversial" question. I love EFT, the pay to win didnt seem bad 4-6 months ago as the had promised that stash size feature that we all waited for and it never came. I have put the game down for now.....

    In short: Fanboys ruining games because: They are satisfied with every bullshit, often times they´re blind and dont have any standards, defending game mechanics, graphics, bad ports and micro transactions. Honestly i think alot of fanboys dont know better games. I dont want to offend anybody but lets say...alot of fanboys are kids..they grown up with alot of bad games but they dont know any better. Thats what i think and truly believe. If the devs only get good reputation most of the time..well why should they change anything? They make their money even through questionable methods. Win Win for the Devs as long as a huge part of gamers dont wake up.

    I do agree with you that the paying to get a bigger stash size is complete BS. The reason that the devs are not programming the ability to get a bigger stash size right now is because there are WAY bigger problems such as desync making the game sometimes unplayable. Also it is a pretty small dev team. But when the open beta comes out, the ability to get a bigger stash size will be in the game.

  • @anonymousfwefwefwefweff

    Usually Armors in RPGs have STATS and differences that tell them appart. In Assassin`s Creed :Origins, Armors have been REDUCED to COSMETIC items, their stats removed... Thus dumbing down the game and putting them for sale in loot boxes (instead of giving them as rewards for quests or found in-game)....I WISH I would have KNOWN this fact, Because if I would have known, I would NOT have bought the game. These microtransactions need to STOP....Even if they are cosmetic or not, they hurt the game!

    12:20 yep. I don't want a game i like, to end. I have a ton of games I haven't finished on purpose, I just start a new character and try to make different outcomes or different spec builds, and never finish it. I think the Mass Effect 3 ending burned me too badly and I am afraid of seeing a travesty like that again in agame I love. But I just keep replaying from scratch and doing things a little differently, especially in a game like Kingdom Come: Deliverance! OMG The banter between lord Hanush and the priest
    Priest -"You can't make a knight out of a peasant!'
    Hanush - "Yeah well, God made a priest out of a pig!"
    Gets me every single time GOTY 10/10. I don't see any game beating the banter in KC:D between the lords. Seriously KC:D is so good. I needed characters like that in my life with Game of Thrones being off this season.

    I think the only way forward is to legally limit the profit a game published for under 18 can make.
    If it makes more it should be given to the government.
    This should push the greedy corporate inverters that have taken over the gaming industry(to exploit and abuse children) out.
    Because lets be honest, we would not be in this situation if it wasn't for children under 18 years of age who are too immature to understand how much they are being screwed.
