In one of their early reactions, Eric from Dicodec also compared them to BVB. Got some deja vu when I heard them mentioned again.
As good as the MV's are, you really want to react to live stuff.
"Domination" live and "Manners/Black Hole" live (one video with two songs) would be a good start.
"Onset" live is an instrumental (also known as Saiki's pee break) you must see as well.
There is a live version of "Thrill" they did in 2021, to compare with the original (was in 2013).
"Freedom" live if you want more Akane on the drums.
Or just pick any three at random. Even their less popular songs are better than hit songs from other bands.
I find their music videos also as good as their live performances. They rarely disappoint.
I have to agree these girls do make good music videos but they are in their element live
@Roger Chance I'd have to agree with Roger here about the Manners MV being a better first-time listen. I also think the best place to start with Live Band-Maid is the 2017 Studio Coast or 2018 Zepp concerts, both of which have a better instumental mix than the live stuff that came afterwards (I'd esp recommend the Studio Coast performances of Puzzle, Moratorium and Awkard - all of them far outshine their studio versions). The exception however is Saiki's live vocals which imo took a large leap forward since then (she had vocal surgery in 2017-ish iirc); so if you're more interested in the vocals I'd start with the 2020 Shibuya concert (strong, beautiful vocals over a disappointing instrumental mix).

You, Sir, are a natural born Maidiac! You were clearly impressed when you watched the 'Blooming' MV and I wondered if you'd react to more of Band-Maid soon...and, damn, you did not disappoint! A triple reaction to THE best Rock band in our galaxy (and in Andromeda too when the signal gets there in 2.5 million years)! You clearly recognise the depth of meaning that Miku 'The Little Pigeon'' (the unfeasibly beautiful rhythm guitarist and founder of the band) puts into every song's lyrics as well as Obi-Wan Kanami's (lead guitar) superior song composition skill. And you also clearly love and appreciate the musicianship that MISA 'The Barefoot Assassin' displays with her bass guitar and the driving force that is Akane 'The Gorilla' on her drums, as well as the extremely high quality and versatility of Saiki's ('The Ice Queen) vocals. Your smiles and looks of wonder, awe and love are clear too (all we Maidiacs share those characteristics) - but I fear for your heart as it is going to beat very, very fast when you watch their live performances! Their MV's are all excellent but they are something else live! I'd recommend starting with PLAY ( czcams.com/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/video.html ) and, from the same gig (and which segues from PLAY) is the incredible performance of their song 'DOMINATION' ( czcams.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/video.html ) and for the third, which includes an apic drum solo, FREEDOM ( czcams.com/video/FYGcOB8S_AM/video.html ). The band and record company seem fine with people reacting to anything from their YT channel and a link to the original video so looking forward to seeing your heart and brain explode with joy! PS I liked the Men Of Culture piece so will end with a quote from Alexander Pope, way back in the 18th century, who said "Whoever thinks a perfect piece to see, thinks what was never was, nor is, nor ever shall be". It took 300 years and Band-Maid to prove his maxim as incorrect.

I was an old bassist, Rock lover with nearly 50 years behind the instrument who had lost faith in the genre when I discovered Band Maid out of Japan and The Warning from Mexico. American may have lost its way abit, but I’m happy to say the rest of the young people throughout the world haven’t. I dreamed of these bands as well.
Band-Maid are a dream come true for many of us who have for too long been mired in hip-hop hell. One trademark of Band-Maid is to change the instrumentals for the second verse. That's something for you to listen for in future reactions. They are touring the US next month, and if you are anywhere near East Rutherford, NJ you can still get tickets for the show at the American Dream Mall on 10/30. If my pockets were deeper, I'd be there myself. I'll be seeing them in Houston on the 22nd. I've been a fan for almost three years now, it's been a heck of a ride. I love how they put a smile on my face when I hear them.

Great reaction, there is so much more to enjoy from this band and they don't have any bad songs. The three songs I would like to see you react to are 1)Non Fiction Days MV, 2) Daydreaming MV, 3) Black Hole live video. This will show the variety this band is capable of, while still remaining perfect in every way.
Another female rock band to check out after Band-Maid is Scandal; their song "Masterpiece" is definitely a masterpiece.
They produced "Thrill" with only three musicians.... Kanami on lead guitar, MISA lead bass and Akane on drums. Miku (Band-Maid founder) on rhythm guitar didn't know how to play in 2014 and was just going thru the motions on the video, watch close. Kanami told Miku we need a fuller sound with another guitar and has taught Miku how to play, now she is one of the best today and has a signature guitar with Zemaitis guitars in Japan. Kanami has stated she herself can't ever strum as fast as Miku....a great complement to Miku. Not sure which tune was Miku's first recording, maybe someone out there knows. Tears of joy with Band-Maid..... yep, happens to me all the time. "Dice" is one of my topp 100 Band-Maid songs... Wait till you hear "Blooming" and "Domination" LIVE, "Manners" official music video
And today Miku guitars skill was like she has been play guitars over 20 years. Are you kidding me. She just start to learn guitar 8 years ago. Japanese people is something dude.
That is sooo Kanami. Of course, she would say that being the sweetest, most adorable, selfless, badass guitarist I know of.

I think she has said, Kanami plays all the guitar parts in recordings but she does them live. Probably it's because Kanami comes up with the how to play at the time. Then she teaches Miku.

This reminded me of how much I prefer the live version of Choose Me to this studio version.
Hard to believe but the Official Live Videos of Domination or Freedom for example show , they are better live than in MVs. They add extra Solos and expand the Album Versions. You will love it. BTW " Sense " is the Opening Track for the Anime Platinum End , " Glory " the Ending track of a YuGiOh! Vrains Season. You can see them as well in the Netflix Movie " Kate " performing in a Club , and another Song is featured as well. Now enough pop culture reference

love these ladies. this is where you start when diving down the band maid rabbit hole. when you arrive at their latest "unleash" ( for the anime fan) you see the marked improvement over the yrs. to me they took off when they started writing their own music.
23:30 I felt in love instantly with "Dice" when I listened the first time. I love the speed, the raw rocky sound ... Just the right song for a fast car and a long road.

Bandmaid is amazing. They don’t have a bad song. I’d recommend The Nonfiction Days, Domination , or Warning.
This was great. You can easily tell this dude is genuinely interested in this band. I can pick out the fakers, and as this guy may come off that way, i can tell from genuine body language he is for real.
Actualy glad you did Thrill first, as it was their first MV. And alot more history behind that song but hope you do more Band-Maid reactions. Next I suggest going for the official live videos, they are an amazing live band.

I'm giving Tony Griffin a thumbs up for suggesting live performances of "Freedom," "Play," and "Domination," although I suppose I should give honorable mentions to "Real Existence" and "Onset" but we have to draw a line somewhere. There are a couple of two-fers from the last couple of years of live streaming, "Manners"/"Black Hole" is one and "Dice"/"Different" is another and they are pretty good too. We'll wait until you're about ten or twelve videos deep with Band-Maid before we recommend their rivals Band-Maiko with music videos for "Secret Maiko Lips" and "Gion-cho."
Death Note, eh? Maximum the Hormone did an opening. If you're not familiar with them, I'll suggest - oooooh, pick one. They're all weird. Mostly.

Great reaction! If you could have added "Warning MV" it would have been a great view of the bands progress over time. Band-Maid is my favorite band and have been for years now. They just never always seem to be able to find a way to exceed my expectations while keeping a hint of nostalgia from the past. Thanks, check out more!!
@2:10 This 2014 video was the make-it-or-break-it video for Band Maid. At this point Miku couldn't play the guitar since she thought she was only going to be a vocalist in the band. However this video did so well due to exposure in foreign markets, that it was decided that Band-Maid was going to be a successful project and that gave them the financial wherewithal to get started. This is before MISA and Saiki started dressing Gothic. Band-Maid is Jimmy Page approved!
Now you have to check out their lives to prove how actually good they are. Both official and fan cam are good.
@8:17 Daydreaming and Choose Me were one of the first songs that were completely written by Kanami, before then they had other various writers and arrangers. This is where Band-Maid is finally producing their own type of sound. As always Band-Maid is Jimmy Page approved!

Thanks for checking out Band-Maid. If you look back on your reactions you will hear yourself refer to bands from the past that you enjoyed while listening to Band-Maid songs. This is one of the reasons that Maidiacs like myself are drawn to Band-Maid. They remind us of rock's greatests yet modernized by these Maids. Their music is catchy hard rock with many of its sub genres plus more. Their compositions and musicality are top notch and their re-listenability borders on addiction.

Really enjoying your reactions and thanks to your reaction to "Dice" I just discovered a new band. You should definitely do a 3 stack live performance next. Start with "Freedom" followed by Play "OFFICIAL" live video (If it only says "live" and not "OFFICIAL LIVE" it's the wrong one) and then follow with "Domination" live. All 3 of them are from the same concert (At Line Cube Shibuya) and just so you know "Play" is song #19 and "Domination" is song #20 of a 21 song concert, but the energy of these girls is so constant that you could swear these are the first two song of this AMAZING concert. After that, if you wanna get your mind blown by the skill of these amazing musicians, react to "ONSET" cheers!
MIKU, rythm (learning from Mincho) writes most lyrics, especially early on and who had the idea of the concept band. Kanami Tono, lead guitar and master musician. MISA BASS (just say MISA, MISA, MISA). Saiki out front with the masterful voice. AKANE, that I mentioned in another comment, the drummer extraordinaire.
These ladiies are for real and if it weren't for this misogynistic world they would be headlining stadiums around the world.

I like this 3 video format. I would suggest you do it again with the these three videos. Use the official live ones and in the order: Onset, Play & Domination.

Great reaction first off, subscribed for sure! With what you've seen so far I'd suggest Secret My Lips or Real Existence they have that same nostalgic feel. The official live versions are better but both versions are great. You can honestly pick any song and you are good to go though there is no such thing as bad songs with Band Maid no cap. No, really. They do rock but they have a lot of different feels in their songs some a little slower, some progressive some fast af but it's all Band Maid so it's all good. Can't wait to see more brother love the channel so far!
1. Thrill -- Saiki sings, “I turn my earphones up. Nothing can beat the ecstasy of living with this Thrill.” And Miku sings, “A pigeon traces an arc in the shrunken sky.” No matter what song you're listening to, with Band-Maid the surprises and thrills ain't never gone.
2. Choose Me -- "Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic.
Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are almost single-handedly bringing back the joys and soulfulness of rock for people from all places and ages to hear. Every one of us were mesmerized by thier 1st MV 'Thrill' then the rest are history to our own definition and excitement cruising through the 'pigeon hole'. We thanked Miku for her beautiful mind and vision to grouped these awesome and talented girls and created Band Maid to deliver the 'pigeon messages' for the masses. 'Tear of Joy' are rare nowadays, your definition of 'Dice' were on point! Miku wrote most of BM song since 'Alone' which are their 1st original stuff. If you want more tears, try this:

May I say..incase no one else has (maybe I don't know)..But you do have the look of Guy Pearce (actor) about you...Not a bad thing..He's a great actor...."Memento" good movie...I like it...And also....BAND-MAID!!!!!...Can't go wrong with our ladies...They always deliver...I have 99% of the music they have released....and I haven't heard a track I didn't like....Best band I've heard in 30 years..

Isn't the intro of BAND-MAID's "Dice" (2018) a plagiarism of American glam metal band Black Veil Brides' "The Legacy" (2011)? It's been said quite a bit in Japan, but I think it's okay to say that both are homages to Guns N' Roses' "You Could Be Mine" (1991, famous as the theme song for the movie "Terminator 2").

You will need to check out their live videos. Thier true talent is how well they play together in live performance. They are better live than studio. pretty much pick any live video you won't be disappointed.
