I worked at a pet store for a decade and you'd be surprised at how little people know about animals. Not knowing about narwhals is nothing when you have dozens upon dozens of grown ass adults who have no idea what makes a tortoise different from most turtles. I've had people try to buy crickets to feed to a snake. Someone asked me if betta fish eat. A woman complained to my manager (who sided with me lol) that I "wouldn't let [her]" hold a cockatiel who was screeching and hissing and making himself as big as possible when I tried to open his cage. Woman, *the bird* isn't letting you hold him.

This is maybe a little embarrassing but when I was a kid I loved narwhals a lot and anytime I got sad or mad or something I’d just think the word in my head over and over again. It became a weird coping mechanism for me that has followed me aaall the way into adulthood. Now this weird word of comfort for me has been tainted.
