I love that you also plant it for the swallowtail! Im trying the same in Spain i hope to see them pop up anytime soon as i planted seeds. I was looking in many videos for someone actually touching the plant or explaining how it would work out doing that. I also read that sunlight makes it worse therefor u might be more safe in the jungle with leaves blocking the direct sunlight but surely gonna be intresting to try touching it carefully once it starts growing. I also read that dogs and cats are sensitive to the smell and that dogs would walk around it with a circle but awesome it repels flys as i live near a cow farm. For swallowtail i also planted Ferula communis maybe not logical in the jungle but they get huge i think in their third year. So with the extra moist maybe even bigger were you live😁 Hope you see many more butterflies🦋✨️
What you’re doing sounds marvelous. I have many hundreds of butterflies who visit, lay eggs and sip nectar here in my gardens. I try to plant mostly native plants of my area for them. I never use sprays or anything that would bring them harm. Their caterpillars eat many plants to the ground so the next season, I just plant more!! Much luck to you in all your future endeavors. May you find peace and joy among the butterflies!!!
Hey there. I can relate to the Blackeyed Susan’s and Purple Coneflowers! I finally had to make a donation of some of these flowers to my compost pile for I had sooooooo many! I used to have Rue years ago, but it died off and haven’t replaced it. Your herb garden is so nice!
Thank you and Oh gosh, I know what you mean! When you have the right conditions, those native plants really take over!!! Yeah, Rue was not easy for me to get her established which was why I was super excited that she finally threw me a baby!!!
Interesting! I don't have that one. Wonder how it would do by the chickens and duck coops. So glad to hear you are taking some with you. I wondered about that the other day when you showed your oregano.
I don’t know if chickens or ducks would consume her due to her strong flavor, so they should be ok around this plant, and but I bet it would really thrive in the manure-rich soil that you have. Also you have the warm climate that she likes, just maybe plunk her down into a raised bed to keep her feet dry and I bet she will come back for you for years!!
Rue is great to cook with. Tastes great in meatloaf.
Thanks!! I’ll try that.
