I went to Glasgow back in 2008 with a couple of friends to check out the pubs and culture.
The very second we stepped off the train there was a gigantic brawl going on inside the train station between about 20 guys. It was absolutely brutal with glass being smashed and blood all over the place. I have never seen anything like it in my life.
An entire army of security and police rolled up in an attempt to get it under control but it just made things worse. It was like watching a war unfold.
We shit ourselves and got back on the train until it was all over.
Some of those men in Scotland are warriors who never recovered from the Braveheart movie.

Don't know a great deal about the Glasgow underworld, growing up I read numerous books about the Krays and the Richardsons as well as othe London gangsters like Freddie Foreman, Joey Pyle and Frankie Fraser. I did read the biography about Glasgow "godfather" Arthur Thompson many years ago and I remember thinking when I read it that Glasgow made Kray-era London look soft, I think Arthur Thompson seemed more powerful than all those 60s London villains combined, not sure how true that is but it did seem that way!

I won't spoil it for you but there is a very interesting story mentioned in the book about when Thompson first meets the Krays, I imagine it's not actually true but who knows. Thompson was also mentioned in Lenny McLean's book as well, it states that Thompson was the boss in Glasgow
