    Baltimore Harbor will never recover from this! By the time this bridge is put back up, there will be well-established ports on the East Coast handling most of the business from Baltimore Harbor.

    These ships need to be inspected before going out to from the port. What if the crewmen thought the concrete bar would help stop the ship? When they noticed the ship was in trouble why did the crewmen not return to the port to get it checked, before this tragic event happen. Sad, for the workers families. First the airplanes now the ships.

    The explosive underwater cutting system to be used in the removal of fixed steel offshore production structures will have to demonstrate an ability to cut steel to BS4360 Grade 50D or equivalent to 65 mm thickness or greater in tubulars of approximately 3 m diameter at 10 m depth of water.

    • @willzyxOfficial

      Not expecting that to yield any results soon. There will probably be a lot of disagreement about who is responsible here. For sure no one will pay until any exact cause of this is established. Shipping is a complicated world, for example Maersk was operating the ship, but they don't own it. And between them and the headowners there might be more intermediate owners, ship managers etc., plus technical managers. Who is responsible for what can be quite messy and unclear.

    • @jimw1615
      @jimw1615 Před měsícem

      Stay tuned; in 5 years you may get an answer to that one. Most don't understand that "limited liability maritime laws" keep the exposure for damages to that of the value of the ship and its cargo at the time of an accident. Most American's are being led down a path that claims the Ship's Owner will be paying for all of this. I already know that is not even close to the truth of the matter. We citizens are going to be paying the bill for this one.

    So my question is if a mayday was called and the police got there in enough time to stop traffic,then how come those construction workers went notified? Why didn't the bridge have lights on it? Did the lights on the boat and ship go out at the same time? Im sorry but something isn't passing the sniff test to me. Not saying it was terrorism but i dont believe it was a freak accident . Sorry

    • @jimw1615
      @jimw1615 Před měsícem +1

      Well, that's fine. Don't believe it was just an accident then. The work crew on the bridge did successfully get notification to get off the bridge. It was a Highway Patrol officer who did yell at the crew from several hundred feet away that warned them. The work crew was on break and in their vehicles at the time but did not understand the urgency of the warning in order to leave in time. The Highway Patrol had officers at each end of the bridge because there was work going on there. It is standard procedure to have the officers there when work in going on. Because the Highway Patrol officers were already at each end of the bridge, they were immediately able to stop bridge traffic going both ways. That action saved many more lives and is the true miracle of this entire accident. But yes, believe anything you want to. It makes no difference in this case. What's done is done.

      The remaining workers' vehicles and bodies are under a lot of bridge ... they will be recovered when it's possible to do it safely. They have a good idea of where they are.
      Captain and crew were uninjured and are still on the ship, and will probably stay there until the ship is moved. They are needed to keep ship systems going.

    I guess we are able to remove the bridge, but there is no possible way that a new bridge could ever be built- America doesn't have any construction knowledge and can't build structures any longer.

    • @kimmacdonald1678
      @kimmacdonald1678 Před měsícem

      The real problem is it takes years of designing and testing before you begin to "build a bridge"
      and its unlikely any engineer is going to want to reuse any old foundations.
      Its best to completely ignore the new bridge talk. It is a very long way off.
      The only thing that really matters is opening a deep water channel again.
      Everything else can just take the time it needs.

    WHEN IT'S TIME TO SAY GOODBYE ??
    Tears are the raindrops of the soul
    And there's one for all who die.
    They are the silent words of grief
    As they fall free from the eye.
    The shortest verse in the Bible
    Is the one where Jesus wept
    So, if you hold back tears, shed them
    When your pain is too harsh to accept.
    Tears are lovelier than a smile
    When they come from those you love
    As they seek relief from sadness
    When you're summoned from above.
    Tears are a love-mates humble gift
    When it's time to say goodbye
    Though the eyes are wet and swollen
    With time and patience they dry.
    By Tom Zart!
