I'll bet his Ricky was in repair or some other misshap. Phil is just awesome on drums here. No other Motorhead drummer had the same style and swing. Love the way he uses the hihats and what awesome fills.
1981 phoenix arizona...unknown band named motorhead. Opened for ozzy on his first u.s tour....I was there ,they blew everyone's mind!!! They were fast and furious! ! R.i.p brothers
Thunder Shark i mean mainstream music....rock n roll hall of fame for instance...nwa...a fucking rap group is in the hof....motorhead is not...and its a fucking travesty...and even if theyre ever nominated...lem didnt get to see it..
They were nominated but they refused because they let the HOF borrow some of their valuables for like an exhibit sort of thing and lost Lemmy's original Ace of Spades tour jacket. So they rejected the hall of fame completely after that
Thunder Shark i didnt know that...thank you...and thank you for telling me without being rude and calling me an idiot...thats a rare thing these days...cheers.
Just found out I am going to see Motorhead for the second time....but this time with my 16 year old daughter. Must have raised her right. LEMMY! LEMMY! LEMMY!
Lemmy what the hell where you singing, you speedfreak. :) he is just freestyling half the lyrics, what a hero. I am glad I saw Lemmy twice in his las last years. Although it was hard to see him the last time when he was clearly struggling
@ALBERTromano1965 Lemmy initially played a leftover Hopf bass, then the Firebird bass a bit before settling on the Rickenbacker when he was with Hawkwind. But it is indeed a treat to see him play it in this video. And you can hear the difference. But I think he find his sound with Rick and a pair of Marshalls.
excellent relaxation, this kind of music is highly advised in medical treatment to patients with ADHD, depression, nevrosis and other diseases affecting the human psyche.
True , he is playing a Gibson Thunderbird . And a little bit of a trivia . The rickies he played back in the day were equipped/modded with thunderbird pickups in the neck position , partially responsible of giving him this distinctive bass tone he is known for .
Lemmy was pure genius! He was an average bassist, but an amazing songwriter! ...most genius move was surrounding himself with amazing musicians A young 23 year old Phil Campbell here ripping a killer lead! RIP LEMMY, RIP BOWIE
+Kim Cornell U obviously dont know much about Motorhead or bass playing Kim. Saying Lemmy was an "average bassist" is inaccurate and rude. Thats like saying John Entwhistle is an "average bassist" Complete rubbish. Listen to the bass on STAY CLEAN czcams.com/video/jvScReIRZOA/video.html and KEEP US ON THE ROAD, czcams.com/video/E8RTeCtJhuU/video.html then revise ur comment.
Eddie van Driver No I'm not going to watch all the links you sent me....and I'm quite sure I've been playing bass and listening to MH long enough (both activities for over 20 years) to know what I'm talking about. Lemmy even admitted that he was not the greatest bass player out there; but he did what he needed to do for MH music!
@NewMusicSpacequake Wow thats cool, that was always part of my favorite lyric in this song. I heard Lemmy was one of Jimi's roadies for a while. Actualy I heard him talk about it in an interview. Jimi Hendrix GOD OF GUITAR.
I am not that surprised to see Lemmy using a Gibson Thunderbird. His main white Rickenbacker from the old days had a T-bird pickup at the neck. He said in a Guitar School interview from the mid 90's that he sold a T-bird to Dimebag Darrell of all people. I wonder if it is this paticular one he's playing in this video...
Fantastic! I knew somebody would know the reason behind Lemmy's use of the T-bird for this performance. Thanks for the info regarding the name of the show, 'Club X' does ring a bell. Off to the Motorhead/Saxon gig at the De Montfort in November. See you all there! Cheers.
lemmy with out a ricky..yea!! he used to play this gibson thunderbird and a gibson sg in his hawkwind days it was his lastfew months with hawkwind that he got his ricky!!
Here to all Bros. Who love Motörhead, andddd YES !! Lemm love Thunderbird Gibson Bass, he got 2, one has being give it by "The Who" bass player john Entwaistle, and the other one (where is in this clip) with double pick ups Humbuckers, 1976 Bicentennial !!!! RIP LEMM !!!
@MrBattini wurzel and campbell were part of the Motorhead lineup for 2 or 3 albums, starting with the fundamental "Orgasmatron". That performance is from that era.
very true lemmy used thunderbird in hawkwind, but mainly used a gibson sg bass for most of his time with hawkwind,it wasnt till the last few months he got the ricky,i belive the bass on this vid was his from hawkwind days.
he thought it, wrote it, lived it and has stayed true to it.
Fkn A
Even when singing his own lyrics in correctly
"I was born to Rock'N'Roll , it's everything i need"
That's all Lemmy is !
Underrated song this..doesn’t get mentioned much
Рокн- ролл рулит!
I'll bet his Ricky was in repair or some other misshap.
Phil is just awesome on drums here. No other Motorhead drummer had the same style and swing. Love the way he uses the hihats and what awesome fills.

philthy was the coolest
most underrated song writer of all time....one day the world will look back and say....wow....this guy was a fuckin god
they already do

maddog76 No problem... Cheers
Alot of us lost abit of a father figure when lemmy went. Last of a generation, god bless him
This is so true. If I stop to think about there being no more Motorhead, no more Lemmy, I can bring myself to tears.
It may be odd....but I owe my life to this song and Lem. You could not imagine.
Man! that solo almost melted my face
Validation for you via thumbs-up, a dozen years later.
Are you still alive?
I'm not ·
It's so weird to think that someone this cool is 3 years older than my dad.
have you dad a band like motörhead. He was a god on his Bass.
You're dad's cool too
Cool is everywhere at all times 😎
I love this one!
Motorhead is the best heavy rock band in the world!
Just found out I am going to see Motorhead for the second time....but this time with my 16 year old daughter. Must have raised her right. LEMMY! LEMMY! LEMMY!
Lemmy is your friend forever and ever...............Rock n Roll will never die
RIP Ricardo Aronne, who passed away tonight...
My favorite part is the last verse
born to rocknroll, everything I need
Born with my hammer down
I was built for speed, thats right
Listen to that heavy bass guitar style
And filthy at the end so into it
And sad to report that Eddie Clarke is now reunited with Lemmy,Philthy and Wurzel
R.I.P Wurzel...
Lemmy what the hell where you singing, you speedfreak. :) he is just freestyling half the lyrics, what a hero. I am glad I saw Lemmy twice in his las last years. Although it was hard to see him the last time when he was clearly struggling

I saw Them between the 80 en the last time 2014 about 15 a 17 times , also between 85 en 90 and it was always the Rickenbacker!
RIP Philthy
excellent relaxation, this kind of music is highly advised in medical treatment to patients with ADHD, depression, nevrosis and other diseases affecting the human psyche.
Lemm truly IS Built for Speed. I mean he STARTED Motorhead when he was 32, which makes him 44 in this video! ROOOCK N ROLL!!!
Real power. Dirty rock'n'roll till death.
Just many thanks for posting this !!!
My favorite Motorhead Song :)
4 member Motörhead!! Very few gigs were recorded with 2 guitars, brutal sound!😎🤘
One of my my lil bros favorites, R.I.P lil bro
RIP Lemmy!
Great sound on this and very tight- awesome to watch Philthy in top form.
...a true front man!!
Saw them in Norway in the mid eighties,my greatest gig ever to this day.
ROCK THAT THUNDERBIRD LEMMY!
You can see how high the action is on Lemmy's Thunderbird. Awesome.
True , he is playing a Gibson Thunderbird . And a little bit of a trivia . The rickies he played back in the day were equipped/modded with thunderbird pickups in the neck position , partially responsible of giving him this distinctive bass tone he is known for .
RIP Lemmy. RIP Wurzel the Bastard. RIP Philty Animal Taylor.
this song is almost exactly like on the road
The only difference is the lyrics, Lemmy wrote new lyrics before they recorded the "Orgasmastron" album.
I prefer built for speed

Awesome. Legends, all of them. 🤘🤘🤘
Always loved Motörhead’s dirty bass and guitar sound
Just awesome !!!
Best Motorhead Ever !!!
Born to rock and roll, every thing I need ;)
Got to love Lemmy. Rock on dude.
First thing I noticed too, this is the first time I've seen a Motörhead Lemmy without his trademark Rick in hand.
Lemmy comin’up on stage, walks to the mic with his bass guitar and yells : we are Motorhead and we play Rock’n’roll!
Thank you Lemmy!
Lemmy playing a Gibson Thunderbird??????
Well now I don't have to write that lol
+Mike Lane me neither )))
Thin neck like a Richenbaucher I guess!

A Gibson Thunderbird looked great on Lemmy as well!
Lemmy was pure genius!
He was an average bassist, but an amazing songwriter!
...most genius move was surrounding himself with amazing musicians
A young 23 year old Phil Campbell here ripping a killer lead!
RIP LEMMY, RIP BOWIE
He was a great bassist though.
There are a lot of motorhead songs with simple bass playing, but Lemmy definitely had a lot of skill.
+Kim Cornell Phil would have been 27 in 1988.
+Kim Cornell Average or great, his style was all his own
+Kim Cornell U obviously dont know much about Motorhead or bass playing Kim. Saying Lemmy was an "average bassist" is inaccurate and rude. Thats like saying John Entwhistle is an "average bassist" Complete rubbish.
