Shin Megami Tensei Fan-Made Games Actually 3 people. Rey Mysterio won the Royal Rumble as well. And don't say "but he was nr. 2" because in the Royal Rumble it's basically nr.1 as well.
They normally reference the fact that two people have won from the #2 slot, Vince and Rey, and that 2 people have won from the #1 slot, where they only reference Shawn Micheals, so the WWE does make a clear distinction between the #1 and 2 slots in the Rumble, despite there being no pragmatic difference between the two slots. That said, if they were truly trying to erase Benoit from history, they would say that only 1 person has won from the #1 spot. They may make it glaringly obvious that they are ignoring him but they aren't erasing him.
Exactly, they say two people won. It's essentially what Punk is talking about in the video. By mentioning two people have won from the #1 spot, they are acknowledging that Benoit's win is a part of WWE history and are acknowledging it existed. However, WWE doesn't want to promote Benoit, so they choose not to mention him. If they wanted to erase him and truly act like he never existed, they would say only one person has won from #1.
Lol CM Punk is defiantly the best PG Era wrestler, Humble in person, an in-ring talent, and great on the mic. Edit - Can weirdos stop commenting on a near 10 year post?
I never understand this infatuation fans have with Chris Benoit , John Cena said it best. He was talented but he did something terrible and that deserves zero acknowledgement out of respect for those who have permanently loss from his decision
Yeah, people like to say "Well he had brain damage." His actions, the choices he made. They lead him to that damage. It sucks, but it is what it is. He was just as responsible as anyone else for what lead to it happening.

I've never understood smarks bringing up Benoit....he did some horrific things, why should the WWE promote his image? It's right that he doesn't get talked about.
@Ethan Steel It's the fact that nobody acknowledges he had very severe and unrecoverable brain damage. He may as well have been an entirely different person. He had the brain of an 80+ year old with Alzheimer's. Dude was probably in and out of all kinds of different realities and probably didn't know what he was doing one minute to another. Probably killed himself because he lapsed back into awareness and realized what he did. Alzheimer's is awful and does way more than just cause memory loss. It's even worse that it was due to so many concussions and head trauma.
@@ianraymondback So you're gonna call a man evil for circumstances entirely out of his control? Your comment shows you have absolutely zero idea how the condition works. Now the question is...Is the WWE going to try to erase CM Punk now for him walking out on WWE? If it is not a "work" or a "shoot" then what is it? CM Punk in ROH or TNA now?
No. WWE is still uploading videos of Kurt Angle titantrons and matches and still has a page dedicated to him on the official site even though he left the company for TNA like 8 years ago. WWE won't be erasing their history and records of CM Punk, unless of course he becomes a murderer. The same goes for any of their other talent past or present that they currently acknowledge.
M Hale But there is a big difference between Kurt and Punk. Kurt had a deal with TNA while in WWE, his contract was 2 or 3 more years still in and he asked nicely to leave and because Vince wanted to make him happy he let him go. Punk continually battered the show, saying it was horrible, talking the horrible truth and went on like that ever since the pipe bomb, which was not scripted. Big difference between kindness and bashing.
***** Did you even read my post at all? CM Punk's bashing of the company has nothing to do with whether or not WWE will continue to acknowledge him. There's still a page on WWE's site for both Punk and Angle right now, go look. As long as no current or past superstar becomes a murderer like Benoit, WWE will continue to acknowledge them. If CM Punk goes and kills someone, you can bet your ass that WWE will remove his page from their site and every single video related to him in an instant.
I'd say WWE is trying to erase Chris Benoit. The history books now show that the wrestlemania 20 main event for the world heavyweight championship was Triple H vs Shawn Michaels vs Nobody. That night, the bout went to a no contest and the world heavyweight championship mysteriously vanished. Five months later, the title reappeared at summerslam, and was awarded to Randy Orton.
Rewsterwing I was kidding. WWE isn't erasing benoit from history, they're just not promoting him. He's got a few matches on the WWE network, so you know that there is some minor respect that the WWE has for him. They haven't forgotten about him, they just need to do what is necessary, given the situation.
***** His name is there, but the description or any link associated to his name has been removed. Like I said, WWE isn't promoting him as a former WWE superstar, but they're still acknowledging his contribution the company. Hence why he has some matches on the WWE network. It's gonna be hard to erase him completely.
***** So more than just his name. No image though. But like I said, it's not like he was completely removed from the WWE. It's not like Vince has completely disregarded all contributions he made to the company. His his legacy left behind in the WWE; the matches he had for the company will remain. There are some boundaries that I guess were taken to ensure he won't be completely buried, while subsequently ensuring that the WWE does not try and promote him, after all that happened.
CHRIS BENIOT SHOULD BE PUT IN HALL OF FAME NOMATTER WHAT HE DID TO HIS FAMILY AND TO HIMSELF THATS HIS PERSONAL LIFE WHEN ITS COMES TO IN THE RING HE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST AND U CANT JUST IGNORE THAT
Would you put Osama bin laden in the worlds list of great people because he helped around a thousand muslim people change the religion to what ' they ' wanted? In a way he changed many lives but the really bad thing he did was 9/11. A bad accomplishment always overrules a good one, even that really fucked up example.
I dont give a shit if he was the wrestling god, WWE is right to do what its doing, have some respect for the family damn it. Quit making this murderer seem like a saint, it doesnt matter how good he was
CM Punk was thee PERFECT person to answer this question from the fan. Given the fact that Shemus and Zack Ryder weren’t even in the WWE at that point and Punk was AND the fact that Punk actually knew Chris Benoit and was scheduled to wrestle him at Vengence: Night of Champions that Sunday night, who better than CM Punk?
I love the reactions from Zack and Sheamus after he asked the question. You can just tell what's going through their heads. Zack: "Oh crap! What do I say? What do I say??? Oh, Punk responded first? Whew! I dodged a bullet there!" Sheamus: *shaking his head ever-so-slightly* "Did you really just ask that?"
well he was working for them at the time. if he just sits there quietly then people will say he was just all script and can't talk in real life and he will be labeled as ingrate because wwe gave him opportunity to become who he is today.
wwe still acknowledges him in some situations, like michael cole saying only two men have won the royal rumble as number one, one of which being shawn michaels
If the WWE viewed Benoit from a professional standpoint, he'd be in the hall of fame and none of his past achievements would have been removed from history. The WWE only looked at this from a personal point of view and had no choice
Correct, but lets say they make a surprise induction of Chris Benoit next year. WWE has sponsors, promoting numerous things to kids, and I am almost certain those Sponsors want nothing to do with Benoit. The internet would eat WWE alive. The Media would eat WWE alive. Benoit was amazing, and if he was still here, he’d be a hall of famer, no doubt in my mind. But he killed his wife and child. At that point, they’d have to view it from a personal POV.
@@MegaAnkit28 Agreed. 75% of WWEs sponsorships are things for Woman/Children/Troops & Etc they would rape the shit out of WWE if he was in the hall of fame. tbh I want Chris in the hall of fame but we all know they won’t even put him their
plot twist: cm punk murdered chris and his family, why? because cm punk was supposed to fight chris before chris died, but punk knew he'd end up in a face lock and get defeated by chris, which would leed to punks career starting off slowly, so that night he snuck into benoits home, hid under his bed until everyone fell alseep. then one thing led to another and that's why he spoke up so fast in this video.
i like how punk handled that, it was a mature answer, chris still my favorite wrestler of all time, but i dont mind the "not talk about him" approach WWE has with him, what he did was unforgivable, he still my hero tho.
I give the fan credit for asking that question definitely took bravery and Punk handled that response so well I mean can you blame the fan for asking it is hard to try to erase benoit especially if you look at his past accomplishments
Maybe my opinion is upopular, but Benoit did what he did because of brain damage. He was not himself, as basically every shocked fellow wrestler can testify. Too many concussions, too many steroids. And i blame the industry for that before i blame him, so i can't really agree with people depicting him as a monster. None the less, it was a tragedy and he shouldn't be inducted into the Hall of Fame because of that. It would be nonsensical. About the censoring, i think the company is just protecting his business. I quitted watching wrestling on a regular base and didn't go back watching it for years, because of what happened with him. People can get very sensitive, and for good reasons, about this. I completely understand why WWE doesn't mention Benoit at all anymore.
Shendue WWE are not responsible for his actions. Also, watch 2003 Royal Rumble dvd, Benoit hints in an interview he has problems with personal life in extras
As a wrestler one of the best who ever lived, as a human before the events one of the best in the world. The monster that committed the acts, unforgivable..
8 years after i am not surprised that it has softened up anout what happened and us wwe fans that grew up watching chris benoit might not like the idea of what he did but i just ignore that and watch his matches and acknowledge that he is one of the greatest.
It is true, because its WWE putting altered images on CZcams, with Chris's image erased. Punk was wrong and he knew it, so he made a smart ass comment.
Two reasons why. 1.The tragedy what Chris did 2. CTE/abuse of steroids use that made WWE change their ways and I guess Vince is trying his best to erase Benoit so that they won't blame him for it.
Look closely at Sheamus and Zack as the dude asks the question, you can see how they immediately realise how cautious they need to be with this question. Punk handled it perfectly.
Knowing the kind of person CM Punk is, he was probably the best person to answer that question out of any other wrestler I can think of. CM Punk isn't just a wrestler, he's a wrestling FAN, as well, hence why he uses so many unorthodox techniques used by other wrestlers nobody's even heard about. The Koji Clutch is a good example.
Ryder and Sheamus should be glad they had Punk with them, you could tell how uncomfortable both of them were when that question was asked. Look at Sheamus's face at 0:06 he looks sad immediately after that question was asked. I do get why they didn't want to comment on that, answer that question wrong and your career might be over(as in wwe burying you all the time like they are doing it to Ryder atm)
I think that the the WWE as a wrestling company should silently add his name to the Hall of Fame. Every great wrestler should go into the Hall. What you do outside of the ring should have nothing to do with what you did in the ring. His head was messed up because he wanted to please the fans by taking real bumps to the head. Unfortunately with the constant head shots and roid-overdose form his doctor, it caught up with him.
The man murdered his wife and son...and you think he should be remembered. It was right to erase him from the WWE. Wrestling is all scripted don't forget that
soldier2009ful Was he or was he not a great wrestler? Thats all that matters. They don't need to advertise him, just add him in the list quietly. No one would know but the hardcore wrestling fans. I know it's scripted, but they do take real bumps and have to pay their dues to be a part of the WWE. If it was all movie work (with no contact), then Benoit would still be here.
I don't think he's HoF material. But i'm not really into rock and roll. If a person is truly a hall of fame worthy WRESTLER he should go into the WRESTLING hall of fame. Anyway all the hardcore fans know he's in the HoF even though his name may not appear.
It makes sense that Punk was the one to answer the question. He avoided the awkward silence and confusion there would’ve been if he didn’t answer immediately.
Punk saved Sheamus’s & Ryders jobs by answering that question cause if one of those 2 answered it their asses would’ve been gone as soon as that interview was over👍🏽📸
Are the WWE trying to erase Chris Benoit? Probably not. However if they wanted to do that, they would be entirely justified. Benoit was a phenomenal athlete and an amazing technical wrestler. But he was also a monster who murdered his wife and child then took his own life. The scandal of which almost brought down the entire wrestling industry in America. There was talk of federal cases being brought against WWE, huge scale investigations into the industry. It was a complete nightmare scenario. That in fact was one of the main factors in WWE moving away from the content it had be producing to the current PG era that WWE now has on show and will likely continue to show until it's sure it's safe to stick it's head back over the parapet.
That guy had some balls to ask that.

Big difference between kindness and bashing.
kurt angle didnt bitch out in wwe, he stay professional and perform his duty.. Pls dont compare him to punk
***** Did you even read my post at all? CM Punk's bashing of the company has nothing to do with whether or not WWE will continue to acknowledge him.

I have a WWE Encyclopedia book from 2008 and Benoit is in it.
There are some boundaries that I guess were taken to ensure he won't be completely buried, while subsequently ensuring that the WWE does not try and promote him, after all that happened.

because cm punk was supposed to fight chris before chris died, but punk knew he'd end up in a face lock and get defeated by chris, which would leed to punks career starting off slowly, so that night he snuck into benoits home, hid under his bed until everyone fell alseep. then one thing led to another and that's why he spoke up so fast in this video.

What did the kid say at the end something about the ghost image of him (Benoit) hugging Eddie Guerrero? What 😅
Maybe my opinion is upopular, but Benoit did what he did because of brain damage.

Two reasons why.
1.The tragedy what Chris did
2. CTE/abuse of steroids use that made WWE change their ways and I guess Vince is trying his best to erase Benoit so that they won't blame him for it.
"oh it's on youtube, that must be true then!" class act CM Punk gotta love the guy he handled that 1 well.

Following the same logic we should induct Charlie Manson into the Rock & Roll HoF because he was a great musician.
I don't think he's HoF material. But i'm not really into rock and roll. If a person is truly a hall of fame worthy WRESTLER he should go into the WRESTLING hall of fame. Anyway all the hardcore fans know he's in the HoF even though his name may not appear.
Avison Lane Don't be an idiot. Manson was not a great musician. There is no arguing the fact that Chris Benoit was a great wrestler.
