I find it incredibly sad that I can no longer watch a video showing the wonders of the planet without constantly thinking about how we're destroying its life.
When I used to work on the Bearing Sea our vessels were sometimes followed for days by large pods of these awesome creatures almost 400 miles from land. I was working in quite bad weather on the rail of our ship when the pod passed so close to the ship I could have touched it. They just came up to take a closer look at us.
It puzzles me why Lisa Gerrard has not had more recognition particularly in the UK where she and Dead can Dance first make their early albums in the early/mid 1980's. I was a fan going back to the peel sessions and saw them live a number of times when IMO they made their greatest music between 1985/1990. I met Lisa herself after the Birmingham gig in August 1987 . A wonderful lady !
