      Yes no doubt! I’ve seen,as I’m sure you have, really nice shots made with all kinds of cameras including ones that were very inexpensive….it all comes back to the Vision….Cheers!

    Studio Sumizoon did a bunch of GH4 videos, there were also another Japanese CZcamsr in Yokohama who made astonishing videos with the GH4 in the area, just cinematic city shots.
    I must say probably was at that point I realised the gear really has nothing to do with it, its all about who is using the gear, the GH2 was already plenty capable in the day and the GH4 really pushed the limits.

    Thank you Allan for your wonderful channel. You have an incredible gift for explaining, mentoring, and showing kindness toward filmmakers. I am an actor (IMDb Randy Legend) and am beginning my journey behind the camera. That camera is a GH-4, so I am excited to see your take. I find your videos to be very detailed, yet accessible to beginning filmmakers and advanced indy filmmakers as well.
    I am looking forward to learning more from you. Again, Thanks. Be well.

    I saw a GH4 going for $250 on the facebook marketplace. It'll still do DCI 4K recording. My gosh. Its so cheap now for a professional video camera. I'd buy it for b roll. Or to use it on trips, I might go to NYC this summer for a fitness race, I don't want to take my GH6 with me since its so expensive to replace if it goes missing. I'd leave that behind and use the GH4 for that.

    • @IndieFilmArmy
      @IndieFilmArmy  Před 5 měsíci

      Oh, definitely take the GH4, viewers won't even notice. Agreed! It's worth it to keep the GH6 safe!

    • @dawgcanjumphigh
      @dawgcanjumphigh Před 5 měsíci

      I don't think its much of a difference. Since it does DCI 4K like the GH6 does, people won't notice. Its all about lighting and audio quality on videos. Videos being watched on social media is all about the story and content behind it, not the camera equipment being used. I'd personally would rather leave the GH6 at home as much as possible. Use it when I really need to. Yes I can shoot 6K on that, but no one can see 6K on these social media platforms. 8K isn't really available either, you can upload 8K videos on CZcams and watch them, but no one really has 8K monitors or TVs in their houses, that tech isn't affordable right now. In about 10 years, it will though.

    Great video, really nicely done.
    The GH4 is still a great piece of kit. For an independent filmmaker or documentary filmmaker especially one who is just cutting his/her teeth in the game, I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
    As long as the sensor on a camera is half decent, it's far more important to focus on story or script - whether for film cinematic or documentary - the fundamentals of exposure, movement and lighting, editing and execution of all these elements and others, in order to produce something special. Hone your craft first.
    If, later down the line you're in a position where you really must have a RED, Panasonic BS1H, BMPCC6k or Ursa Mini 12k, or whatever it is you feel is required, you'll be in a much better position to fully exploit the extra bells and whistles it'll present you with.
    But for now, and for quite some time to come, a GH4 will be more than enough for most people in my opinion. I'd still happily use one today myself.
    Again, superb video, highly rated stuff mate.

  • @catattackcat8754

    As opposed to the GH6, the GH4 has a low pass filter and has 0 digital details processing (no smoothed out details like hair and wires), it has noise reduction even when sharpness is at -5 but this is not the same than detail filtering.
    So the fine details are very differents between the two cameras, the GH4 is very very sharp without looking unatural. I much prefer the fine details of the GH4.
    Sadly the GH6 has IBIS, slightly better AF, more resolution and frame rate options, also better colors. I would love to have a GH4 with IBIS and the same colors as the GH6.

  • @bigrobotnewstoday1436
    @bigrobotnewstoday1436 Před 3 měsíci +1

    In some ways the GH4 is better then the newer cameras because it does not have IBIS. And the reason for that is because there are any hard bumps or running fast with the camera the IBIS can shake even when the IBIS is turned off. The GH5S also does not have IBIS.
    The TV show Top Gear bought some GH5 cameras and they had them on snowmobiles and the IBIS was turned off and the IBIS was shaking. They went back to the GH4. I know this is extreme use but just something to think about.

    • @IndieFilmArmy
      @IndieFilmArmy  Před 2 měsíci

      Oh wow, now that's a hot take. The only thing I wish the GH4 had was 4k slow motion, which would have helped me a ton in post with my feature. I had to upscale all of my HD slow motion footage to to 4k

    • @bigrobotnewstoday1436
      @bigrobotnewstoday1436 Před 2 měsíci

      @@IndieFilmArmy Other small cameras without IBIS that I know of are the Fuji X-T2 and I think the X-T3 and the Sony A7S first model.
      I heard even if the IBIS turned off and a actor is walking around that sometimes can shake the IBIS.
      Some companies use springs for IBIS and others use magnets.
