    tip 1- when re using anti freeze pour it through a paint strainer. paint strainers sit perfectly in any funnel. they are dirt cheap. a paint strainer will even capture oil and dust particles. anything smaller than dust is not going to hurt or clog your cooling system.
    tip 2- when filling most cooling systems, either park the car facing up hill or jack the front of the car. this allows all air bubbles to escape towards top front ( see buoyancy ) no bleeding will be required.

    Just curious but why were you guys being so cheap with this install? If I'm replacing my radiator for a "Racecar" I'm replacing the coolant hoses and lines, and installing an aftermarket radiator fan, you can get a 16'' fan with 3,000 cfm for around 16 dollars. Truly worth the extra money when playing with a component like a cooling system. The thing that truly got me is the fact you re-used the old anti-freeze.. Just buy new coolant. Its like $4 to $40 dollars depending on what you get, but pre stone is only $10 dollars for a gallon. Those are just the things I though you should have done, I mean if you are willing to spend 200+ on a aftermarket radiator, go the extra mile and replace your fluids and lines. the fan is my recommendation, but not necessary.

    What's the difference between Plastic and Aluminum Radiators? I need one for my 1986 Chevy Silverado c10.Need some adive or help on getting the right one.

    • @AndysAutoSportTV
      @AndysAutoSportTV  Před 6 lety +4

      Hi Charles! All aluminum radiators are generally used for high performance and maximum cooling capacity.
      Plastic aluminum is just an OE replacement radiator and not a high performance product.
      So if you're just looking to replace your factory radiator, you can go with the plastic aluminum. If you have a high performance vehicle that needs maximum cooling, then you would go with the all aluminum.
      Hope that helps!

      AndysAutoSportTV So the plastic one will work fine for my truck?

    • @AndysAutoSportTV
      @AndysAutoSportTV  Před 6 lety +3

      Yep, if you just need a replacement and you haven't done any major performance mods to the truck, yeah you should get the plastic one.

    radiator fluid is cheap. I would probably put new ones in rather than reusing the old ones.

  • @wilsonautomotive
    @wilsonautomotive Před 10 lety +2

    You're building a racecar... Put water from a damn tap in it. Even that's better than that old antifreeze... Or buy a little distilled water. I'm sure it's max $5 for 2 gallons.

    • @wilsonautomotive
      @wilsonautomotive Před 10 lety +8

      Easy killer. I didn't say he doesn't know what he's doing but he is being lazy. So here, let me make it simple for you. I've worked on cooling systems before too. Running pure water is one of the best ways to stay cool (besides high quality coolant) with a low temp thermostat and gets the most out of your aluminium rad.. Educate yourself.
