- Travel Day! Heading to nearby Koh Samui to see how it looks after my last visit a few months back. Also want to check out places for possibly another month extension, this time on the islands (no sense rushing back to Bangkok at this time). So, come along and give a fond farewell to Khanom (for now;) and hello to Samui! (more vids to follow from the islands). Thanks for watching/enduring this lonnng vid! Cheers, STL

More 30+ minute videos please, just what I need whilst stuck in Blighty.
35 minutes. Fantastic!
Warm greetings from the Netherlands
I don't no who's complaining but I've been loving every minute of your content. Im always amazed by the quality of the videos coming from your phone and spark.
Cheers Nehemiah Mcdonald :)
First hit the LIKE button, then watch. 😀
😎
Love you’re video’s and you’re voice! They show the real Thailand! Hello from The Netherlands
35 minutes isn't long enough, great stuff, post another one tomorrow :-)
Thx nmorton100, will try (but as ea vid takes about 12 hrs to make, maybe next week;)
You should post something 35 minutes long
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
From ALL the CZcams vids I watch ( to gain info about Thailand) ... yours are the BEST !!!
No face in the camera 👌
You edit with arrows and mark locations.
Convert $$$$$ , which is SO helpful
And I am SOLD on Khanom 👍😄
Im 60.
Looking to bolt out of Australia 🇦🇺
Once Covid eases up
Im looking for a hidden gem 💎, just like Khanom area.
I cant thank you enough for your fantastic channel
You are No. 1 !!!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤟✌️
I can`t help but be Jealous of a Man that travels through Paradise... Truly wonderful videos .... :-)))
Thanks very much but Shirely you can't be serious... ;);) czcams.com/video/dMQ7cHVS9ZI/video.html
Like the island hopping always something different👍🇨🇦
Greetings from Kitchener, Ontario. I'm binge watching your videos. Nice to hear the soft Canadian accent, too. 🙂
thx eh;)
Great video as usual, don't sweat the length we love it. Keep it up, cheers 🍻
Cheers Tripp!
Excellent and yes I watched to the end.
20 years ago I knew an English chap who owned a bar on the main street of Bophut near the Shack and he used to sit at the bar smoking joints all afternoon (and night) with B5000 in his wallet at all times just in case the boys in brown came round to say hello lol. Some amazing characters there back then, I stayed quite a while, above a travel agent in a nice quiet room for very cheap. Meals were B30 with rice, great days!
That is the greatest movie of all times first time I saw it I laughed my ass off. I’ve saw it seven times.
wow!
the reggae introduction is perfect. You have the best vibe of any Thailand vlogger!
thanks for the information spicily khanom , regarding the khanom plan to visit in future ,
khanom its looks like vey cool island no to much restaurant or bars ,
Sidetriplife I could NEVER consider your videos boring whatsoever as you pack so much information into your videos. One thing I have noticed lately is that you are putting up videos and deleting them WHY please? Please keep up the great work. 👍😁
@Family Mart, thank you! Also for being a long time sub. I only delete the odd LIVE STREAM as some complain about poor quality (not realising it's a LIVEstream on lowest resolution for bandwidth and not a pre-edited vid). Also YT seems to knock the channel back after LIVE streams. In fact, I don't think I'll do them anymore, or, might start a separate channel for the odd LIVE stream. Cheers
I agree with the previous person. I love to watch your videos to relax in the afternoons. I am 63 still working hard for my kids and will get to one of those places in your video soon. I want to stay a month. Keep up the good work, it is not in vain.
Your videos are really good I wait for them. Thank you for the time you spend
The couple were awesome I'm happy for them.
Absolutely stunning, paradise is a great description.
Great place at Bamboo and Nadine speaks french so we'll check for next year...first Khao Lak
Great vid as always 👍🙏💙🇹🇭
Sawadee krap^^ Fellow Canadian from outside Toronto: Yes, paid the referenced amount from Van to Vic. Makes you reflect/contemplate the low business overhead considering the exorbitant ticket prices. Am I missing something? Miss Thailand very much! Hoping for a break from this third wave and our present provincial government circus. Thank you for providing me with your wonderful vlogs to keep my dream alive. Take care and travel safe^^
Welcome to our island :) Hope you enjoy your stay
That was an excellent story about where they were messing in Switzerland .
Great video 👍🙏💖🤙
Ah Samui - It would be Special to see it all whilst it’s quiet , obviously sad for local business & tourism
Again Khanom impressive from all angles , Glamping - why not - Thanks again for sharing - more pls 😎🇦🇺👍👌🙏 🍻
Thx much ANT R U OK, also for being a longtime sub!
thanks and greetings from the movie star!
NADINE! (thanks for taking a moment out from signing autographs;) See you soon!

Wow that was awesome I love every place of them.
29:28. Those prices are so refreshing to see. Like the Dinosaurus, once upon a covid time....
Welcome to reality; January 2023. Have a look on Agoda today.
Dear SideTripLife - You don't always have to have expensive photo equipment (camera, mic, drone, etc.) to produce great videos. The overall package has to fit, and it works for you. All the best. hannes w.
Ive not been to Bo Phut for 35 years ,changed a bit , hopfully visit next year . love the vids never long enough.
Good evening from UK . Lovely video. Thank you for sharing.
Hi form Belgium you going to my nice place samui miss samui
Waouw you travel really light !!!!! ✔️👍
Keep up the good work 😃.
Time no problem
Good to see a new post.
Just seen two fellow Canadians doing a collaboration in Bangkok, one is Chris Parker who I am sure you know, and Alina McCleod who is doing a three month trip to Thailand. I think Alina is heading off on her travels again soon, but it would be nice to see you and Chris get together when you get back to Bangkok.
I've handheld gimbal (Snoppa Vmate: Great picture in 4k50/60fps but some problems and no more firmware..); it's more steady than a Vivo X50/60 phone.
Anyway, we prefer to have only one device in the pocket. So a phone with gimbal+EIS, is the better option, nevertheless having a second small camera allow you, a second view during the same shot..a second battery ready to shoot too.
I think I will just follow you ha ha 😂you find some great places at great prices, great video Jimmy 🇬🇧
What an interesting coincidence that your hotel lady was instrumental in catching the Serpent, esp. since that remake is so popular right now.
Nadine is an extraordinary person and besides being very brave she's also very nice
Hmmm...I don't think it's a remake...it is based on real events.
Great vid. Hope to get out there one day.
Thanks Rudy, hope you do
Loved that movie!!
Thanks for showing us some great places to stay, been going to Ko Samui for 15 years, I think it’s the best Island for staying long term, usually stay in Lamai or Bang Po, Mae Nam areas! When I’am there I always get a reading from a Psychic/Clairvoyant shop by the Big Buddha. Also had a friend who was into Colonic Irrigation would visit his surgery, called Care U Colon, alternative medical practitioner, once was enough for me!
Hi Roy, thanks for commenting. You're fortunate to have lived in and travelled to some great places (readers, pls see Roy's channel;). Samui gets an unfair rap imho, as it's as expensive (or cheap) as one chooses to make it. Even in 'normal' times could still find a/c rooms under 1000 baht, monthly bungalows under 10,000 and loads of great food at great prices (unless one chooses to chow down on western food at western pubs etc in say central Chaweng or Bophut etc). Meanwhile, Lamai, Maenam, Bang Po, Lipa Noi etc and just outside of top tourist zones there's still great value to be had all over Samui. Did get a fortune teller reading in Bkk once and he said take care of your back - he was right! As for colon and irrigation etc, NEVER is enough for me lol;)
@@SideTripLife Thanks for your kind remarks, agree with your assessment of Ko Samui, it has a lot to offer that most islands don’t, let’s hope that the tourists come back again so that businesses can survive!
Great video, thoroughly enjoyed it. When I get there I think I'll stop off for the night at every place I saw on your video, they were just too beautiful to pass, I don't know how you had the strength to pass them by yourself as I couldn't. Thank you for a great video and you took your time filming rather than what sadly some guys tend to be too fast. I'd like to buy you a beer, you deserve it, how can I do it?
Thanks kindly Acr 931. I forgot to add the link but if anyone would like to buy me a beer: www.buymeacoffee.com/SideTripLIFE
Appreciated!

@@SideTripLife Done!.. and very appreciated videos and your hard work.
another great vid but so sad to see not many people there hopefully soon
Thank you for this beautiful video 👌
Nice vlog
Another nice video , thank you . Enjoy ...
❤ I thought your drone footage was great. The problem many people have is being able to see the screen on your phone. Look into getting viewer goggles. They look like brasing goggles but with your phone inside.👍👍 Hope this helps.
Great sidetrip again :-)
Great video
Can't wait to get back:))
Enjoyed ….thanks. (Still stuck in London)
Stuck in Australia 🇦🇺 it sucks 🤦🏻♀️🥵😷
lol American Fried Rice ? That`s a new one on me too.
Actually seen it at various places all over Thailand. It goes back to the Vietnam War era apparently. Wiki narrows it to 3 possible origins. If any are curious, search "Wikipedia - American fried rice'
we've been enjoying watching your videos love the myna bird. I noticed you're traveling everywhere on a motorbike. We are seniors and prefer not to rent one or ride one 😜 We also like Hua Hin as we can get around by walking and taking a tuk Tuk or Taxi there. What part of Koh Samui( or surrounding areas )would be best if you don't have your rent a motorbike and not cost an arm and a leg.
On Samui you can flag a shared Songthaew like in Hua Hin (red ones instead of green) but expect to pay around 150 baht per hop between towns around the ring road.
@@SideTripLife thanks for your information hopefully it's not as crowded as the songthaew in Hua Hin 😅 did that once and prefer the Tuk Tuk or taxi
The drone has 6 kilometre range bro just hit return to home and hand catch it when it comes back...easy..😎
not lonnng (vid) enough ... thanks !
❤️
do you get lonely travelling alone ? these places are great i'm sure but to be with a companion would make them perfect for me
Not long enough 😊
How about buying yourself a decent mike like the Rode Wireless Go, for example?
Not very costly and it sure would make your great videos even greater.😀
Long vid, no problem 👍.
Prices for monks much cheaper. Not something you would typically see in the US. The pricing was interesting to see as well as everything else….what a way to wake up in the morning if your actually not their, YET😃
Use to driving a 4Runner so going to need to learn to ride a scooter of some sorts….looks like fun to ride this way.
It appears you can’t make a bad decision where you decide to stay, regardless of plans❤
Awesome video. Hey where in Canada are you from? So am I .
Thanks :) I'm from N. Van
@@SideTripLife I can see your humbleness and kindness all the time - yep a true Canadian quality. Thanks for all the amazing videos.
you re a great drone pilot!
Music is very close to Exodus, but not TOO close
Now I am confused.....so she wasn't in the series but the character Nadine is based on her?
Correct Ron. Nadine was also on the set to share her interactions with the actors. This production really wet to lengths to be accurate.
Thanks for a nice video! :) Maybe you have told us, but what kind of phone do you have with an inbuilt gimble?
Vivo X50 Pro but would get X60 Pro+ now as the builtin gimbal on the X60+ is now on the wideangle (vs on the main on x50 which has a too narrow POV)
@@SideTripLife Ok thanks, I have never heard about Vivo. Is that a new brand or belonging to another brand? Is it good in other ways, you like it?
@@SideTripLife Ok, I will look for that one and read about it. Could be something great for me :)
Did you have another yt channel? Voice is familiar. Where do u suggest to learn scooter riding? Thanks
please visit red moon for fantastic food and host
Thanks Sara & agreed! Stayed just opp last time and had a nice dinner + enjoyed some good live music there. Here's a glimpse: czcams.com/video/RNhOAAoRfUA/video.html
✌👌👍
So you just hired a scooter at the port and they took a copy of your drivers licesnce and passport and paid some cash. And they trusted you with a bike?
Correct
Don't forget that you need a international motorbike licence...Here at France with my car licence, i can drive my Honda PCX 125cc without motorbike licence. In thailand they don't check if you have a motorbike licence to rent a 150cc, so in case of problem, you're in a wrong position...if it's not your case
Great content bro. I used have a beachbar a little bit further down the road in ban tai. Samui is my second home from home and under normal circumstances I travel back 3 times a year to visit old friends and party my ass of. Do me a favour and have lunch at the jungle club in chaweng noi. Its located in the mountains and you will find it awesome. Great sea views and a good opportunity to shoot a nice video. It's owned by my long time friends khun It and Valary. Check Google maps for the exact location. Thanks bro appreciate it 🙏tell them jonny from Amsterdam send you 🤣
What are you using for filming?
Vivo X50 Pro. Still dialling it in. Will do a review soon.
Meanwhile, here's some other reviews:

I'm upping to X60 Pro+ as soon as it's available in BKK.
f/1.5 ZEISS, plus built-in gimbal on the wide angle this time, +++ :

The serpent was filmed in 2020. I think that lady was puling your leg.
The current Netfilx series The Serpent was indeed filmed recently. However, the real life events took place starting 45 years ago. Nadine's interaction with the serial killer was around 1975, thus accurate. Pls see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Serpent_(TV_series)
Edit to add, can see her on the actual Bangkok movie set in my prev vid: czcams.com/video/bwVt5uFEyRM/video.html
@@SideTripLife Oh so she was the actual person portrayed in the series, not the actress. That is so cool. I must have heard the conversation between you wrong.
No worries Bill. Actually, my apologies as I really didn't explain it very well in my vid (and you're not the first to wonder about this due to my lack of clarity;). Suffice to say, Nadine is an extraordinary and obviously very brave person, yet also a humble and very nice lady in real life. The Netflix series is well worth a view and they went to lengths to ensure accuracy: www.netflix.com/th-en/title/80206099
@@SideTripLife watched it last month. Really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was the jumping back and forth in time. If you're not looking at the screen full time, you'll miss the occasional '6 years later' or '4 months ago' and end up wondering what the heck is going on. Lol.
Great videos BTW. Really enjoy them. You are indeed very lucky to be living the life over there.
WOBBLY POPS LOL, I HEARD THAT ONCE BEFORE IN NELSON BC, WE CALLED THE GUY WHO SAID IT WOBBLY POPS==ARE YOU WOBBLY POPS?
What is the reason for alcohol curfew ? Curious 🙏
When people get drunk, they forget all the rules. Also, to lower the time people spend in the restaurant. Get your stomach filled and then leave. No chilling with alcohol.
Nice video but you really need a better mic
Thx & yeah I really do ;)
@@SideTripLife really enjoy your videos I'm from Montreal hoping 1 day I will be back there ,your very lucky to be able to do that
Keep up the good work
Who do you bank with.
My son was there and got hit with ATM fees 7.00 per withdrawal!! Grrr
Ouch! Luckily I have a local bank account as well as overseas thus only transfer in once in a while and use local ATM.
Nadine is not the one in the show... haha
Righto, Nadine is the one who lived through this in REAL LIFE and an actress played her in the movie. Quote: 'Mathilde Warnier as Nadine Gires'. Pls see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Serpent_(TV_series)
What make is your phone?
Vivo x50 Pro
Sadly with the new X60, Vivo has make the stupid choice to put the gimbal only on the X60Pro( 800€ !), not on the vanilla X60 for worldwide( Snapdragon version).
That's a shame considering that the X60 which it sell in China ( X60 Exynos), has the gimbal !( 450€ 4K60fps with gimbal, tele X2)
Thank you. Can you get a waterproof cover so that you can film underwater?
National Geographic here; would be interested in your videos, but they're a bit shakey and, in our opinion, The God's must be crazy was the worst movie of all time.
lol! Here's a more recent vid, still shaky but maybe just a tad less: czcams.com/video/a4Rd3l_i6qw/video.html
PS: best avoid Casey's new vid (shakey af;) czcams.com/video/h9xaHwBsRUw/video.html
